    This is my first time hearing and watching this epic performance of Impermanence by Architects. I love this band, and I'm continually amazed by Sam Carter's chops as a vocalist but also his dynamics and connection to the emotional nuances of the writing.
    He's a rare talent and it was so fun to hear him in this context and get a more raw perspective than his traditional studio sound ...Fun to analyze and experiment with for sure! Join me for some major inspiration!

      Thank you, I have heard of the band name before, but never listened to them. The orchestral accompaniment has sold the band to me. Made my first kinda scream sound too so I gotta listen to Sam Cater more. I think I’m getting close by singing “wah geh un” instead of “again”.

    omg all you had to say is chest voice with distortion and my quest to go from full on screamer to rough mixed vocals that has lasted at least the last 5 years and something just clicked. Damn. My problem genuinely was taking too much from my screaming background and lack of confident cleans that had me pushing too hard in the wrong areas - I switch to chest 'speaking' and then using my range of screams to layer it, then all thats left after finding where I want it to be is hitting the pitch. Chris you're amazing man

    When you spoke about how some singers make faces when singing the soft stuff, I felt relieved that I wasn’t the only one who noticed it. That’s one of my biggest pet peeves. I actually approached singing in a different way than what you told me. I approached screaming and leant my breath control whilst doing so, since in my band I do screaming. However, I immediately seeked professional instruction, and through that, I found your channel and that made me interested with clean singing. I recently got mixed voice down and trying to find ways to solidify my technique and improving the range.

    You have videos for almost all the artists (especially those in the crazy-rock-vocals arena)--Sammy Hagar, Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Benjamin Burnley--name it. Have you done a video on your music influences or tastes? It would be awesome to learn how music has been with you on your journey in life.
    I've been trying to figure out how to sing Architect style for a little while now, it's crazy you showed this as I just started listening to them last year. I didn't know they were known enough but you always seem to know where to find good vocals and music! Thanks for sharing, I'll definitely try to internalize and practice the screaming techniques here and in your other videos, it's probably the hardest one for me currently.
    P.s. I was jamming to "Love Someone" on a night drive last night, almost got it down! Great song.🤘

    • @chrisliepe
      @chrisliepe  Před 2 lety

      That would make a fun, concise video. What makes what I do so fun for me is that the vocalists you just mentioned ARE my main influences and tastes :) And many others represented regularly on the channel: Gerard Way, Spencer Sotelo, Conor Mason, Jeff Buckley, Freddie Mercury... The "my musical influences" is what actually started the "sing like" series I do on the channel. I like the idea though of making a video specifically about my top 5 influences and why though.. I think that would go over well!

    Great video Chris!
    First of all: thanks for all your great video's, it helped me a lot getting better and it unlocked my higher screams like you explained in this video.
    The thing i am working on now is mid and lower screams, which brings me to the guitarist of Architects: Josh Middleton. Maybe it's cool to look into his other band ''Sylosis'', a very underrated band imo. He is very good at those ranges with and without pitch. Check ''I Sever'' or ''Calcified'' for some good examples.
    I find it hard to get into the right sound without going high and let my voice break into the scream. Maybe you can help ;)
    Cheers!
