I live in Thailand not far over the border from Siem Reap.
It is a beautiful place and the people are so lovely.

SR is lovely but it's not cheaper than BKK for me. I rent an apartment just 10 minutes walk from my son's international school for less than the $330 figure you quoted. It's got a terrific gym and two pools. Sky train is 10 mins walk other direction. Of course SR doesn't have quality education, doesn't have great hospitals, doesn't have transport infrastructure or even much in the way of shops. No shopping malls. Your 7 Eleven is crazy price wise, a 20baht snack in Thailand cost $1.45 when I was there a month back. The tuk tuk driver we had in SR summed it up nicely, once people have seen Angkor Wat they are gone. Nothing to stay around for. If education and good emergency health care existed I'd be e there. But as it is, it's an occasional holiday place.

I travel the world on $1200US per month including travel expenses & doing all i desire. I don't drink & don't pay for companionship.
I generally pay around $200-$300pm for fully furnished accommodation, which is generally the minimum i stay in one place.

@@anniesshenanigans3815 Avoid the expensive countries. Avoid cold countries. Stick to tropical countries with very low cost of living. Avoid using air conditioning. Allow your body to “acclimate” to the tropical heat. It takes me two to three weeks of suffering in the heat when my plane lands in the tropics. And then I easily ignore the heat. Wear loose, quick drying clothing. Don’t wear tight clothing. Wear a ventilated hat. Always have a bottle of water with you. Avoid heavy drinking of alcohol.
If you use airconditioning, your body will never acclimate, and you will suffer in the heat every time you step outside. Also, by only using fans and cross circulation between windows, your electric bill will be much, much lower.
Stay out of Pub Street. It’s a tourist trap. Stick to further away local mom and pop cheap restaurants …..your meals will be much cheaper.
I had a nice simple apartment in Siem Reap for $100 a month. I know an expat American living with his Khmer girlfriend in a very simple $50 a month apartment.
      Good luck. 🙏🏼 ☸️ 🌴 🦎 🇰🇭 ✈️
There are expats living in Southeast Asia even on $800 a month. And perhaps less.

I'm done with Thailand. Coming to Siem Reap in October. Looks like what I imagine Chaing Mai (where I lived for a year) might have looked like 25 years ago. But I also hate that landlords are trying to bring 2 months deposits like here. Pattaya sucks.

A tip to drive in Cambodia, drive moderately like the local do, don’t turn too sharp, give time for the motorbike to sense you. Never realized on their skills to know the laws. Use horn or flick your light to let them know that you about to turns or alert them. Slowly when you turn into at the intersection. Bikes are crazy sometime with their impatience.

This is lo season, apartment you showed is a rip off, should be $200 month.
Also, no more than one month security deposit, otherwise it's a total scam,
Low season, means what ever there asking, offer half that, and if you have any kinda of necogiating skills at all, you should be able to get that apartment for 40% off their asking price.
Be smart, look at 5 units, narrow it down to 3 unit's, then you have plan A offer on.the unit u really like, plan B to fallback on if A gets totally rejected, and plan C for worse case, that A& B got both rejected.
    I guess common sense, ain't that common😢
