    Shower looks very good, my setup is an oztrail popup double ensuite with a prtable shower that plugs into a car socket and pumps water from a steel bucket that was heated on the fire. Little less convenient but it works

    Mine bent in moderate winds that crept into my camp and it was not strong enough of winds that got me worried. I had poles attached to both ends to hold it up and a strap bounded to my roof rack to prevent the tent from losing its square.
    When it was time to pack up the privacy curtain (we don't leave it deployed after drying it out), it wouldn''t close. It took several attempts until I realized that the arms were bent, hence rendering the unit unable to close in on itself.
    I had bent it back with a pair of pliers but unless you get it perfectly to its original, the folding mechanism twill not align. For this, I see it as a major flaw in this design.
    If higher grade materials were used, it wouldn't had bent. Was expecting the quality to be much better for Australian/SAfrican overland products. My EEziAwn seems pretty strong.
    The other issue I see when using this was that when the arms fold out, it doesn't;t lock into place. This leaves any movement inside the tent that touches the walls to lose its square or slight winds to knock it off. You can anchor the bottoms down but unless you have guy lines atop, it will flop around.
    Am in process of documenting it and sending an email to QuickPitch for review. Hopefully, they improve their product going forward.
    Bummer because I waited 6+ months to get this original design from overseas only to be let down after 3 uses.
    Mine also did not come with a mounting rail thus, had to drill holes to perfection (which doesn't always translate well). This was unclear at time of purchase. I have the soft pouch version.

    I think this a great product but like every one else a little pricey. We have the on board Glind Shower System and LOVE it. Its plumbed to the bullbar. The very first spot I chose to shower from was the side of the car like in this video. After two or three trips I didn't like all the water run off there, it was too close to the rear of the car. It's now at the front of the car against the bullbar. We work out of the back of the car so its well away from that area now, much better. Normally we don't need a screen but if we do we use a Pop-Up Ensuite. If it's a bit windy I just lash it to the bullbar. :-)

    Would be interesting to find out the price without having to contact the company directly. We have been using pop-up showers for years and they wear out pretty quickly. They only last about 12 months with us so this looks like a great improvement but pricing will be the big deciding factor.

    What would you suggest for the floor area? Also, is the unit "sealed" from weather? I ask because Id be a little worried about possible mildew issues when the shower is folded up and you're using it on a 6+ month trip. Maybe the fabric is machine washable? Thank you for demoing it and helping with the development of this product.

    Does anything hold the lid open so it does not slam down on your hand when you are re packing it? This would be helpful if more than one person is packing camp in the same truck as it could get jostled around by the other person loading stuff in.

  • @PatrickRich
    @PatrickRich Před 6 lety

    It really is nice and all. One more thing to buy the traveler that has it all I suppose. Having seen the failure of electric pumps and heaters/heat exchangers I've moved to a more simple solar passive system but this curtain would give me a little privacy. Its not really be a problem for me as I tend to travel in places where I can simply shower on the other side of my truck from where my travel companions are and the hill and rocks on my side seem to keep their comments to themselves.

    What a great product, would it tend to fold up on you in even a light wind though? Did it have any lock open mechanism? Maybe if it did and a base you could attach to such as a custom mounded plastic "shower tray" it might be even better for us in the northern hemisphere. Possibly an idea for optional extras.

    • @4xoverland
      @4xoverland  Před 6 lety +1

      Shower tray can't be folded so not a practical solution. I use foam rubber matts with holes for drainage, and then a second one outside the shower to stand on to get changed or get cold, or both. There are tie down eyes for attaching ropes in a wind.

  • @B61Mod12
    @B61Mod12 Před 2 lety

    The top lid needs a latch or stay to keep it up after opening otherwise on uneven ground or heavy winds it is going to swing down and hit someone's hands as they are deploying the shower screen.

    Andrew, I know you mentioned that installing this may have been the cause of the rattle--curious what your thoughts are on cost benefit of making modifications while potentially creating other problems. I know you are diligent about what modifications you make to your truck, but do you have an overarching philosophy about modifications? Your thoughts on this subject are appreciated.

    • @4xoverland
      @4xoverland  Před 6 lety +2

      The rattle was to be expected, after all, we cut off the roof and replaced it with a camper. But as careful as one can be, problems can and often do come up on a first trip. In fact, its very uncommon for there to be no problems with a major build, but if done well, these problems will be easy to fix, as this was. The shower wasn't the problem, but one simple blind rivet. Philosophy is keep weight down as much as possible by having items do more than one job. Weight is by far the biggest enemy when building a truck because its excessive weight that can cause problems that are not easy to fix, like broken shocks or a cracked chassis.

    What radio used in tracks on Australia? And on the roads? Ham radio (i´am Amateur Radio)? CB? UHF? I see "big antennas" on the roof.

    • @adelarsen9776

      1) Australia - mostly UHF 477Mhz CB - 5 watts PEP. (80 channels @12.5KC) Class License - Free.
      2) A little 27Mhz CB as well but not popular these days. Class License - Free.
      3) Ham Amateur - not many travellers use Ham but those that do can check in to daily skeds for safety purposes. Eg Travellers Net, 40m and 20m.
      There is a few outback Ham Amateur safety nets for travellers with Ham radio.

    • @4xoverland
      @4xoverland  Před 6 lety +4

      We looked at that option, and it would not have worked well. Its far too high to see into and store soap. Also hinge on top more difficult to seal. Drop down lid prevents access behind the curtain. Instead they sewed in a drop down flap with zips.

    Dear Mr. White,
    first of all, I want to thank you for all the Information provided and all the fun spread.
    But this time I am more than disappointed...well not about you or the EnSuite Shower itself but about the Company producing it..
    Immediately after I saw this video I send then a Mail...not getting any response...so I kept on sending emails..and they kept on not responding...I got my own Unimog in Namibia whilst being from Germany. After several tries I got in contact with some of my friends at a Camping Outfitter in Windhoek and ask them for help...they finally got at least an answer from QuickPitch...but a really disappointing one...Quickpitch only was willing to sell 10 Units at a time each costing 5520N$ which is about 440US$...
    I really love hassle free stuff as much as you do..but come on...over 400 U$ and you got to buy 10 Units ??? Also kind of strange that you do not even get any feedback on your emails..
    Sorry..maybe a great product but not the best way to act to customers.
    kind regards Martin

      It was the blind rivet that we inserted to attached the shower. Its a problem very specific to my truck's roof camper design, and not the shower. If we had mounted it 2mm back, it wouldn't have happened. It was a blind space so we had to guess. The shower is just a flat box and can be mounted any way one likes.

    Fantastic product, but not priced accordingly at all! AU$700 Is better spent elsewhere on your tourer. Especially when you can get a pop up shower dome/tent for around $20 to $40, that takes 1 minute longer to set up... .

      Exactly! It's only worth half the asking price and that's mainly for a convenience factor. I was sold until l saw the price...

    I just went to these links to see about the product and pricing... these companies expect me to contact them directly for the privilege of buying a product directly from them? It's an interesting concept every manufacturer knows of in western society called Amazon Fulfillment Services.... Ship a bunch to amazon, they hold your inventory, they handle the sales transaction, shipping, everything. Then when your inventory is low Amazon notifies you to send more to the warehouse. Every sane small company does this. Sorry for bitching too loudly, give me a price and place to buy it. Money being thrown at a company is like panties being thrown at a rock star... they all appreciate it, but very few get the opportunity, and even fewer know how to make it last.

      Its not my product and I do not have shares in the company. Its their business how its sold. It's a brand new product, never been seen before, and it is totally brilliant!. Fairly unlikely that you will ever see this product on Amazon. Designed in Australia, made in South Africa. Contact the distributors if you want one, and they are not in the USA yet. There might be a wait. Or buy a competitor's product - which won't be anything remotely as good as this.

      No, but if I were them I would be preselling them and offering international shipping for those crazy enough to pay for that kind of shipping.

      You won't have to pay overseas shipping if you live in USA (a bit of a wait), Australia or South Africa.

      Direct contact with any company is preferred in Australia.

    What a crying shame Quick-Pitch increased their prices for these so dramatically, no one is now interested in importing them into the states. You lost big money Quick-Pitch!
