I wanted a M2 air but you can find refurbished M1 Pro MBPs for similar prices.
    I ended up getting a 16” M1 Pro 16gb ram 512gb for $1300.

I still have an Intel i9 MBP with Touch Bar. Ridin' it until it dies. It still does the job for business presentations, vector graphic work and photo-editing for social media or large format posters.

My M1 Air middle level model and my maxed out M1 Max still run flawlessly. Linux runs better then any of my windows machines in VMs. Battery life still unbeatable

Best video so far on what to buy. My Macbook Air 13" is 10 years old this year (I cannot get over the backlit logo that made me buy this laptop in the first place). It is still going and works way better than the dreadful HP laptop from work.
However, my baby's age is starting to show so I need to upgrade before she explodes. Interesting take on Macbook Pro. I might just look at the Macbook Pro with the M2 Pro or M2 Max (didn't know that these two existed until this video). I was thinking of getting the Air M3 prior to watching this video but you have sold me the Pro instead.
Brilliant video. You've earned yourself a new subscriber. Thank you so much!

MacBook Pro with M1 10 core 32 core GPU 64 gig 4tb performs better than the M3 with the same specs for music production and mixing.

I'm not sure I would call the MacBook Air a typewriter :). The M3 is a fairly powerful chip in all forms and I'd argue you'd really only go the Pro if you have fairly heavy editing workloads that require more sustained performance. Keep up the good work man!

My 2020 M1 MacBook Pro 13” still runs perfect and I actually enjoy the Touch Bar. I see no reason to upgrade since it runs everything I use flawlessly. Even when my friends use it they’re amazed at how well the speakers sound when watching movies or other content. 2TB and 16 gigs.

I am planning to upgrade my current M1 MacBook to the M3 MacBook Pro 2023. Additionally, I am interested in purchasing two M3 MacBook Pro models, one for personal and professional use, as a technology content creator on TikTok.

I like my MacBook Pro m1 with the display bar, I love the way I can work with the selections. I love the applications on the bar for easy maneuvering too. It’s easy to operate and if you get lost, too bad you’re not intuitive enough.

This is like the best review video of the M series MBP and reason of which one to buy. Have many older Intel MBP and am on the fence on getting an M series MBP and this helped a lot.
Originally was going to get just an M1 non-pro MB that I seen a lot from Amazon and eBay. After your review it seem to make more sense to get an MBP M3 Pro from Costco at about $1600 which I seen other places were selling for the same price for the MBP M1 Pro.

I bought my very first MacBook M3 16gb and I’m happy😊 It took me a long time to finally decided to buy one coz..hmmm… I’m really curious😅
I did lots of installation, testing and used different OS through VMs in my work and my thinkpad e480 that I won in bidding for 115 dollars did an amazing job!! But it is bulky and the battery is still problem and the Macbook did solve all those problems❤.
But I still bring my 2 laptops in my travel(if I use my car) coz if I need to perform my task, it’s still easy to use the Thinkpad😅.
But overall my experience for macbook is amazing but right now I just used it for simple task..😅

Excellent video thank you, I have the M1 16in pro max fully loaded since launch. It is fantastic to this day doing 4k cine editing and so on. Other than confirming that I wasn't an idiot buying it, and I do get the fans spinning from time to time, this video has also confirmed that choosing a M1 Pro 14in (Apple M1 Pro chip 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine 16gb ram/1tb ssd) for a friend who has just retired and has 'ideas' - the perfect choice of model for him.
Too easy to say, 'you're not going to be a heavy user - get a cheap air' - thus limiting the option further down the line, when he realises he wants to edit the videos and pictures he will surely capture on his retiree travels, he can without compromise. He may fancy playing with AI, that can be done as well.
As I said excellent video, my friend is watching it now before he blows the dust off his wallet! (Hi Dave)

I really liked this video. It helped me choose the best option for me. In my case the MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chip. I think this machine will be capable enough to manage the kind of work I want it to (writing texts, watching movies/ videos and some slight gaming, like Minecraft). I think I will try to get my hands on a model with 512 gigabytes of storage and 16 of unified memory. The only thing that I am unsure of is, how long it will receive updates? But we can only guess and hope it will be a long time.
Keep making your videos and I wish you would do the same for the iPad lineup, if you have enough time and want to.

Many thanks to explain us why are Macbook laptops the best in their cathegory! I would choose a Macbook Air M3 13” or 15” with minimum 16Gb RAM and 512Gb or 1Tb SSD… it worth more and at the end I buy a Macbook for 6-8 Year use… because the Mac standard and quality is more then excellent and allow it to use a laptop so long!

Apple raised the bar so high with the M1 , even they're having problem surpassing it with any real meaning

Updates could happen this fall. M3 wasn’t going to be long term so I’m waiting. I have a M1 MBP maxed out. I’ve been needing a bigger screen, more memory and just over all more performance. I still love it though.

  • @manoharanrajkumar4814

Hi, I follow your reviews regularly. I was just wondering if you could help me choose a Macbook to run 19 Parallels desktop applications, mainly for Windows. I do not play any games on the computer, and I use it primarily for productivity. I would be grateful if he could answer the question.

M1. Even the base model, which you can find for really low prices, performs great. Spending more money on an M2 or an M3 is not going to be worth the jump unless you can find it for a similar price.

I disagree with this dude,i got the M2 base model 8GB unified memory and 256 GB storage and it does everything I personally want and does it smoothly.
really,it just depends on your use of the machine, they are expensive but for overall build quality and performance, nothing comes close to Apple and I mean nothing.
Being an old guy,I only surf the net and watch movies,so for me its fine and I have done very basic video editing in 1080p HD and it handles it very easily.

I have had both 14 inch MacBook Pro 16gb/512 and a MacBook Air 16gb/512 and yes the display, speakers are better but the one thing that I noticed is the battery life. I can easily get 8 hour day out my MacBook Air but the Pro on many days was hard not to charge before the end of the day. Not for long though.
With meetings, emails, WiFi use the extra power used more of the battery. With the Air I really get below 30% by the end of the day.
The ONE big issue was the dual monitor support using M2 Air. We have upgraded to M3 got a new Air and for our work needs this is the perfect laptop hands down. We do buy 16/512 models which yes is a definite must have as Apple is way behind in this area but you can buy more ram 🤷‍♂️🤬

For regular purpose, general uses, generic coding, university, not heavy high demanding taskes like video editing or photo works, Air M1 is the choice. Other models are only burned money for all 95% peoples.

Does m2 16gb and 256gb has 1 memory chip or 2 memory chip?
It is also providing 10core gpu.

    • @gadget-bear
      @gadget-bear  Před měsícem +3

It's the NAND chips thing, so it's not about RAM or unified memory, it's a disk thing. As long as storage is 256 gigs (only on M2) it's going to be only one NAND chip. But you would notice this less with 16 gigs of unified memory, because swap (supplemental memory) will be used much less often.

I've got a refurbished M1 Air 16GB RAM/512 GB SSD - still a great machine after being released almost 4 years ago!
I don't mind the "older" design (it's more iconic in my opinion) and the performance is still great for what I use it for (web browsing, emails, documents, spreadsheets and some iOS software development using Xcode).

These newer Apple silicon Macbooks are fragile so beware!!! I have a 2012 Macbook Air from bought new and it just doesn't died, I replaced the batteries a few times, it travels with me around the world. I recently got a mint Macbook Pro M1 and the screen is now bad, I did some researches I learned these Macbooks aren't as robust.
