    You are right, Kanami is a delicate and fragile person. She is really special in her own way. I think the 4 others try to "protect" her as much as they can. For example, Akane takes Kanami to the hotel because she gets tired early. We also know that Saiki in particular is always looking out for Kanami. Saiki and Misa were once so drunk that they didn't know what to do. They called Miku and Akane but not Kanami. Saiki said she would not call Kanami in such situations. Simply because Kanami doesn't know such "bad" things. I could describe Kanami with 1000 words but for space reasons I will make it short. Kanami is the most precious pearl in the whole ocean!

    Maybe she is a musical savant, certainly she is a genius but fragile. That said her work ethic and committment is formidable and in addition to her wounded seagull dance moves on stage her work rate on the guitar is non stop. The amount of energy that they all expend on a 2 hour show beggars belief but no one, not even Akane, spends energy like Kanami. The scruffy little genius is an international treasure to be protected at all times and her band mates must work to protect her.

      Kanami's work ethic definitely works against her sometimes. She has too much energy for her own good. I think they were very strategic in how they scheduled their tours this year so she can get the proper down time she needs to recharge.

      @@billb.5183 I think it was during the Band-Maid Nippon episodes that Miku mentioned they had to go over to Kanami's house and just make her STOP. IIRC, Miku and Saiki both said they had to go over after a zoom call because Kanami wasn't eating or sleeping right as she was working on writing new music and practicing . So they held an intervention to make her start eating right and working out and resting properly. I may be remembering that wrong, if I am, someone please correct me and point me to the right info.

    Hello Vladimir. You're right. Kanami, on a daily basis, is a gentle and delicate person, and she does not come from the same social background as these 4 other friends. Miku and Saiki nicknamed her Princess Air Head. But Mincho is another facet of his personality that tends to burn his energy on stage. I remember reading that she had a bad experience of confinement because of the Covid and it could have had serious consequences on her physical and mental health if she had not had the constant support of her partners (and also of his family probably). Despite this, she composed Unseen World, my favorite album. She's a pure genius, with a constantly active brain to come up with riffs and stuffs to compose new songs. Shambles is a command song for an anime, nothing more, a brilliantly effective banger. We're not going to throw tomatoes at you🍅.😆Thank you Wladimir.

  • @paddyofurniture4681

    Miku is the heart of BM, Saiki the soul, Akane is the muscle, Misa is the backbone, and Kanami is the brain. Together they embody the current, most excellent band in rock, standing on the shoulders of giants of the past like Santana et al.

  • @yang-it-yin7002

    Great review, I agree with your analysis of Shambles. I can imagine Kanami appears to be the type of genius that can't unplug and turn off that genius for a bit and recharge. Her creative output is supernatural sometimes I think she is an alien. I can imagine that she must have a lot of weight on her shoulders having to produce and deliver tracks that meet the high standard they set.
    I just would like Kanami to create an extended solo in any future composition. I also prefer her solo work where she incorporates the wah peddle rather than the harmonizer she seemed to be enamored with lately. I guess I'm really a big fan of the "Just Bring It Album". This album will always hold a special place with me because it was the album that introduced me to this great band about 5 or 6 years ago.

    I think they were more cautious when scheduling the US tour this year. They split the same amount of shows into two trips this time with a handful of shorter festival shows as well. There was plenty of down time between their Japanese shows so they could get proper rest also. As long as Kanami eats and sleeps properly, I think she'll be just fine this time around.

    • @vladimirreacts9
      @vladimirreacts9  Před rokem

      I also hope so. The management must take into account that they are all over 30 now, except for Saiki, who'll be 30 next February. For the most people, I thing 32 is approximately the line between youth, when you never really get tired, and maturity, when you can't forget about the limitations of your body anymore.

    Thanks Vlad. Kanami is the MVM of BAND-MAID. Can never convince me otherwise. I also wish Shambles has a bigger hook in it. Remember at the Jersey show when MISA came out from backstage and said Mincho was sleeping. Not knowing what we know now I laughed. Her long dress doesn't help her either. Peace.

      Yes, they invented that explanation on the spot and were joking about it. As for me, I immediately felt that Kanami is not feeling well. Something serious had to happen for her to run away like this...

    • @drogonr9318
      @drogonr9318 Před rokem +4

      Kanami is the MVM, as she is still the only one essentially creating the music, and she seems to be the most active member in its production as well. (I'm sure Misa and Akane are a huge help composing sections for their instruments, but all of this comes after Kanami has already imagined the song and muscled out a demo). The stress she must feel being responsible for new music while also being wedged into a busy touring schedule must get intense. I always think of her as the Brian Wilson of the band (without ofc the ego, drugs, and drama), but even more so, as - unlike Band-Maid - the Beach Boys had other members writing songs.

    When I noticed the tiny chaotic kanami solo in memorable on the release stream I immediately saw it as a stroke of genius, because the overall message was somewhat euphoric, and I could see how on purpose that was (and achi accompanied her into the anomie in those few bars you will notice).
    She is always this expressive and ingenious but we don't hear her "talking about me" so obviously.
    She was transformed by the Lopalooza gig. So free and generous in her playing and body language.

    As it is written for another anime. I am always aware that they have to follow the theme and style of the previous seasons of the anime. However I loved it as the song felt like a throw back to Rinne and the more chaotic style they are so good at. Even the lyrics felt like a step back into reminding me of the old positive fighting lyrics of the past. Which having watched just one episode of the first series of the anime seems to fit. The Band of late have looked happy and relaxed and able to talk to each other on stage and smile and just be in top form. Has Saiki ever looked so comfortable and powerful? But I am always nervous if they look too happy. Does this mean this is their swan song? Or if they look tired I feel nervous they are pushing too hard. But for now they have never looked so together and that is almost impossible to imagine how they just keep on evolving and improving from what I thought was perfection...... Anyway great to hear and see you again. Your insight is always fascinating.

I believe part of what made Band-Maid’s US 2022 Tour difficult for Kanami, and perhaps the rest of the band, was traveling from the U.S west coast to the East coast. From what other musicians have said that is very hard on the body. Band-Maid has changed their starting point with their 10th Anniversary Tour (East to West). So far Kanami has seem to be holding up and I’m willing to bet that her band mates are monitoring her. Thank you Vladimir for your comments and thoughts. You are a respected Maidiac stay well sir.

If that is the case, songs like Giovanni or Wonderland (to name a couple of creative masterpieces IMO) wouldn't work with Kengan Ashura. I've watched a few episodes of Kengan and it's pretty straight-up shonen violence in every episode, with very little of the wrenching moral and political issues like you get in Attack on Titan. Like "from now on", this is also a song that drains Kanami's stamina, isn't it? However, the reason why they released this song at this timing may be thinking of playing on this US tour.
    When I saw the Rockville fancam in May, Kanami looked exhausted when she left the stage after the performance.
    Therefore, I was worried whether she would have the stamina for an hour-long Lollapalooza show in the scorching sun without enough sleep, but I had no choice but to believe they were professionals. Kengan Ashura manga was such a banger. BUT!!! the anime, they made it 3D🤧. If it was animated by some big companies, it had the potential to be "THE ANIME"... at least in my opinion

    Hi Vlad-san. It’s been a while. How are you doing? Thanks for uploading this very deep and thoughtful video. I confess that since around the album “Unleash”, I don’t like much and hardly listen to anything except “Hate”. Kanami used to say that he wanted to make hit songs, but lately, because of her genius, she seems to be over-elaborating and moving away from songs that can be accepted by everyone. After all, a hit song is almost always something that everyone feels is good upon first listen, and if it is too elaborate, it will only be accepted by a few enthusiasts. That is why Saiki apparently asked Kanami to write a song like “Choose Me” again recently, but Kanami seems to think that he can no longer write a song like that. In other words, it seems that as their skills in playing and composing have improved, the songs have become more complex and maniacal, and as a result, she is going in a direction that is difficult to be accepted by the general public.🤔

      Good points & an honest comment. The Maids are ever progressing & getting more technical which should be applauded but it's those simpler riffs that grab you with their catchy hooks & melodies & sing-a-long choruses. "Don't You Tell Me" for the win, i say.😁

      @@GaryHolloway-810 Hi, Legendary Commentator Gary-san😁
      Thanks for your understanding of my personal opinion.
      I really hope for their world domination. For this reason, I think it is very important to have a hit song that is generally accepted. I feel that Saiki is not an instrumentalist and therefore understands this very well with his general thoughts.🤔

      @@cats-eyes Yeah "Shambles" has to be taken in context with it's subject. Most anime songs are intense & frenetic cos the lyrics are driving a narrative. Hence they fill a lot of the space instead of a killer groove....Ooh look at me being all serious. That's your fault that is.😏

      @@GaryHolloway-810 Oh, I'm kind of out of tune with the seriousness of the subject for the first time in a long time.😁 You are certainly right. And they have made several anime songs, which often lead me to know the band and the musicians. Hence the need for simplicity that makes us want to sing along. We know the Band-Maid so well that we tend to look at them favorably and understand how great their songs are, but it is difficult to say whether they are applicable to the general public as well.🤔

      @@cats-eyes That's true. An anthem-esque song that immediately grabs everyone's attention with it's catchiness & inclusiveness. The Maids taking a breather & penning another "Spirit" or "Fate" crowd pleaser is what we need imo. I had to put "Imo" cos you know how some people get.😆

    I got Freezer vibes from it, then I was getting I'll and Corrallium. A few people said that got Hate? vibes from it.

    I agree with you Vladimir and I hope I don't get angry comments because I love Band-Maid. The truth in my opinion is that we don't need this song. Of course it's great and the musicianship is off the charts but that is the case in all of their songs. The arrangement is very much something we've heard before, it's like Dice and Rhine put together in a blender. I'd rather the band take some down time, the fans aren't going anywhere and we are willing to wait until they really have something new to say. Of course maybe this was an opportunity they didn't want to miss, doing an opening for an anime is an opportunity to reach new fans but the band is growing and I think can now afford to give themselves some time off and miss some opportunities. Again, I think they can afford and have earned some down time.

      Well, we don't know what's happening behind the scenes. We know that the girls are recording a new album, they hinted on that. And after all, Kanami considers it her job, to compose the songs. She is a very systematic human being, I'm pretty sure she wakes up every morning by the alarm clock and works at least 8 hours a day. Maybe even 16, as is a custom among Japanese.
      I really hope she does not get a burn-out in the end. Nobody's getting younger, and what was OK when you are in your 20s, maybe already too much when you are in your 30s...

      @@vladimirreacts9 I want to amend my comment. I was wrong about not needing this song. With all the buzz and press from the Lollapoloza show, the Best of CD, and the US tour restarting it was a brilliant move to release a new song and probably a good choice to have it sound similar to some of their most popular ones. The band is riding a wave of popularity too big to ignore. A lot of new fans will love this and the anime will help with more exposure. I still think they deserve some down time, but the timing of this was too good an opportunity to pass up (imo). I guess it's a good thing I don't manage Band-Maid.
