The Worst Possible Spawn in Deep Rock Galactic

- Out of all the spawns we had in Deep Rock Galactic, not once did we have one that got us all absolutely rekt after only a minute in. Especially when a Bulk Detonator (which we've named Dave) decides to welcome us.
Anyone would think that Management at DRG would know that at least some of the dwarves that died on the planet were because of horrible landing spots like this. - Hry
"We're trapped,, somebody dig us out!"
*Driller's body smolders in the corner*
Management had enough of you kicking barrels
Fxck management I'll kick all the damn barrels on the pod 🤣
What do they even use the barrels for?
@@Nothing92849 Don't worry about it.
Storage most likely in truth.
@@Nothing92849 karl knows
They turned them into barrels getting kicked in the launch bay
I'm guessing the driller panicked and forgot he could drill a tunnel to escape. It happens. I'll drink a beer in their honor, RIP brothers.
Tbf drilling a tunnel would make a killzone for both sides. And you can't exactly shoot over the shoulder of a fellow Rock and Stone Enjoyer in a narrow tunnel
@@dj11o9er9 That's what C4 is for. You can drill in and then slightly up and put the C4 inside, run out quick blow it up and have a wider area to work with. Also gunner could have ziplined lol. Like yeah it's a BS spawn but easily livable if they used their classes lol.
@@Thebees21 I'm....not really sure that a zip, of all possible things, would have been their saving silver bullet there. Considering how finicky it can be at the best of times nevermind that clown show, plus the initial area infront of the pod not having anywhere to really zip to, PLUS how hideously slow it is, in addition to the flyers to knock them off, AS WELL as the ridiculous number of enemies that would simply follow them, well....
They likely could have lived if they had drilled away right off the bat, yes, but you can hardly blame them for not expecting....this.
@@Thebees21 Youre laughing, they died and youre laughing.
@@papapalps2415 3 Engi platforms and everyone could've jumped out as well, or driller digs a 45deg tunnel anywhere up the hole the drill/pod left, so they could get up and out.
If the spawn looks like this the moments the door open, first thing i would've done is immediately open my map so i could see where the cave even IS.
I once had the pod land on the edge of a cliff on SandBlasted Corridors. We got blown off the ramp and all fell to our deaths instantly, including the scout who panicked and couldn't get a grapple off.
clearly inexperienced scout. Good one would grapple instinctively.
@@1222dss I play with a lot of new players. Most my friends only have around 10-20 hours and only play occasionally, or are very new to shooters in general so don't have those reflexes or instincts. I think it was only their second time playing scout too lol.
@@1222dss when in doubt look down and grapple. 🤣
I've had that but with ice. Whole team got frozen over and over as we tried to get out of our spawn hole.
@@1222dss Thanks for your intervention Mister Condescending
Every single person panicked. That was a beautiful ensemble of mistakes. Great content.
Very true... I think the driller should of just kept drilling away
so many pings
Yes. Stay in the pod until clear.
@@mikaelpalm2130 that`s leaflover talk!
It was a really bad spawn. And we are all commenting in hindsight. But i was just thinking where is the tunnel? Where are the ziplines to gtfo?
But its just a panic. You just go "wtf??" for 5 seconds and it is too late.
I have had bad spawns. 2-3 radioactive praets just chilling outside the droppod and i think it was 5 spitballers. And at least 1 salty leech in the ceiling. bodyshield goes off bcs of praets, i bolt to get away and get spitted. Gunner gets grabbed when shielding me and scout pelts all his cryo nades on the spitters. Engi rescues gunner just in time for at least 2 spitters to defrost. And when scout grapple gtfos, some basic bug nibbles him to death.
@@olesams im gona be onest im used to this bs happening. And if you dont stay calm and dont find a whey to leave that zone asap you will get over run fast. They start saying that this is a very bad spawn instead of geting out of there enything could save them driller zipline engi or gunner could done sertant thinks to help/complety deal with the situation at hand... But you get used to that when you play too mutch solo and too f mutch of 5 hazard random plays... Sou I understand
"When I find out which egghead plotted that as our drop, I'm going to rip his spine out" more blue collar words have never been spoken.
I wish I had this recorded, But our worst landing was on 2X xp + Haunted cave, Pots O gold drinks, And we land on Krassus detonator mid insertion, So the fucker died and exploded 100 or so meters above us in the drop pod tunnel.
By the time We finally manage get up there and mine all the gold Unknown horror breaks the platforms, Gunner and driller both fall to their deaths, I as scout and our engi manage to save ourselves.
Engi landed next to a Shellback and got punched into 5-6 exploder glyphids, And I get grabbed by mactera and then executed by 3-4 trijaws at point blank range before I got to pull senses off.
Good times.
Classic haz 5
"you are steve now congratulations" thats literally how it works i love it
When in doubt, hide in the drop pod and wait for the driller to dig a tunnel out of the hole.
This. And scout should have skipped town and kited the bulk detonator
@@Drako9823 And the hole wasn't so deep that the engi couldn't have made a ladder of platforms along the wall to near the top from the drill.
I *never* get out of the drop pod until i see the area isnt swarming with bugs.
0:03 "This will be the end of us" The game has already determined their fate.
One time, me and the boys started a point extraction mission, and a bulk detonator spawned right under the pod and killed us all before we even walked off the ramp.
EDIT: in case I didn't clarify, the detonator spawned under the pod while it was still falling. It got hit by the pod and was going through its death animation while the pod doors were opening. By the time we were walking down the ramp, BOOM.
It was also everyone's first even encounter with a bulk detonator. As far as they knew, we started the mission and inexplicably all died.
and in my time of playing i thought i have seen some shite but apperintly bad drop points happen :\
Once, when I was still pretty new at the game, I got pinned IN the pod by a Bulk Detonator when I launched a Hazard Level 2 game. Got slapped to death repeatedly without being able to leave the pod
Honestly, I feel bad for the guy who joined JUST as the Mission Failure screen popped up.
Very late reply, but that was probably a crassus detonator since they spawn with mission generation.
@@jamesdekock8729
nope, regular detonator. Gave is a big black crater.
@@KOMISSARIAT That wouldn't even make sense XD. Imagine how quickly the game spawned a det
I had a really bad start yesterday. We landed hazard level 4 on the sandblast and near out the gate we were double teamed by a prospecter ship and a bulk detonator. Our scout saw the ship fly over a pit and decided to give chase. He messed up the grapple, fell down the pit, somehow survived then was mauled to death by whatever the hell was down there. Our driller ran up throwing a c4 at the bulk detenotor before it immediately exploding downing him. Our gunner got blown up by kamikaze bugs shooting the bulk and I got mauled to death in the drop pod hole. This happened in two minutes.
I know your pain but I play as a driller and I’m usually the last one standing had two bulk dets show up my team was down swarm had shown up basically the cards stacked against me let’s just say I turned into doomslayer for a while there was no nitra in the current area had to find some in the next drilled my way to my team got them up dropped a resupply oh and the dets I killed them on my own I had enough for two resupplys the one I killed them with and the one for my team and we were on hazard level 4
>Driller refuses to drill
>Gunner shields only after everybody died
>Scout doesn't GTFO
>nobody suggests any of the above
It's a terrible spawn, but this looks like four headless chickens.
So true
That was just an average haz 5 start really hahahaha
This guy rocks and stones
in their defence they were probably overwhelmed a bit. my bf has 600 h and I have 200 and yet we still forget to do saves like that :P
Also the Engie nuked himself in the face and then nuked the Detonator as soon as the Gunner tried to revive the Driller to get them out of there en masse. Nuke Engies who don't know how to use it kill their team more often than helping
me and my mates spawned right on top of a bet-c and this root boss in hazard 5 so technically thats not the worst lol
I've had a few worse. That driller clearly had a leaf lovers, affected his mind.
If he just drilled some sort of bunker and went up from there it would be playable
I would say this video is still worse, I've never played hazard 5 but I imagine a Bet-c is still not that bad to fight if you know what you're doing, and you should know how to fight a Bet-c if you're playing level 5, but yeah the root thing is going to suck
I had the same happen to me on haz 4 while I was alone. That sucked.
Korlok Tyrant Weed?
our team once spawned into a cave that was rather small and before everyone could even get off we were getting hit by a crassus. combine that with a praetorian showing up and it was a 20 second wipe out
On your way down, HR calls you: "By the way, your contract is terminated."
Funny fact: the only guy that could have saved the mission was the first one dead. Damn bugs are becoming more and more clever by the day.
Engi could've easily placed a few platforms to get out of that hole, and he was the last to die, no matter how much you wanna pretend he doesn't exist ;) But yes, driller would've easily handled this if he wasn't brain-afk along with the rest of his team lol :D
@@christofferrasmussen6533 Even the scout could have jumped out of the hole and tried to kite some of the baddies off...
I think the entire team just had a brain meltdown when they saw the bad situation and nobody ended up doing anything that would have saved any of them, lol. Cuz there was definitely a lot they coulda done.
I cannot undedrstand driller thought process then. Hears a call for his personal role's help, hold his drills, looks at a wall that is an easy tunnel out, looks up, sees bugs, oooo flamethrower go brrrrrrrr, dead.
The gunner could have saves the entire situation with one well placed shield
Everyone had opportunities to save the team, they couldn't. Now shut up about the superiority of your main class.
When I took my team to their second Haz 5 we landed in front of three spitballers, an active horde of glyphids, a cave leech, and three praetorians
But also the ground we tried digging through was actually the hollow ceiling at the very top of a very deep cave where our actual objectives were.
We didn't make it.
i friggin hate when that happens
Hover Booooots
That's why you should always carry "iron will" perk.
That's why you should always carry "field medic" and/or "dash" perk. Ftfy.
"Iron will" requires you to take damage and get killed.
Dash and Iron Will with Vampirism is GOATed
And field medic requires you to have allies that go down, what is your point?
These are all fail saves in different ways.
@@Chronically_ChiII just because your teammates IN A MULTIPLAYER game are bad doesnt mean you are, such many cases. I dont play drg for the bosco experience, and in multiplayer the more targets to distract bugs the better for me so all players need to be up and running.
@@secretname2670 Pretty sure if you're playing Haz5 or elite deep dives, you have on average same skill level teammates, or god forbid, one of your 3 teammates is better than you.
I've been dropped on top of a Korlok encounter that awoken a Bet-C with a gold Bulk all in the same room. As the three of us took down the Bulk, and the BET-C in the explosion, another spawned in shortly after along with a swarm of praetorians being announced. This was before we started using the pyro-gunner build and none of us still understand how we managed to get out of that mess without any of us getting downed once.
Pyro gunner build?
A random server I joined had a bet-c, korlok, and two dreadnaughts. Of course we fought them all at once : )
Bro had something close happen to me except I had to take down two bulks on my own my team was down
Driller was dum trying to kill mactera, should of drilled a small tonnel away
I mean he did not try to drill them he had his drills out but he did not fire them so...
Ah yes. Drill a hole. A hole where they can all funnel into and kill you while you try to get away.
WHERE ONLY ONE PERSON CAN SHOOT PRETTY MUCH. A GREAT IDEA!
@@dj11o9er9 yeah it would work, depending on drillers load out , the scouts freeze grenade or the drillers freezer main gun, or the gunners shield would block the flow of and keep u safe
@@dj11o9er9 How about drill a hole to the flat ground above where they were getting absolutely fisted lol, it doesn't take that long to get out of a shitty situation
@@dj11o9er9 seems like youve never played this game lol
Remember Miners, don't leave the drop pod unless you are sure it's safe.
Bugs cannot get into nor shoot into the drop pod, and sometimes you are immune to damage and/or effects so long as you are inside
But DO NOTE, that once the last player has left the drop pod, even for a moment, it start the timer for when the DP will leave early. And if you are still in the DP when this happens, the doors will close on you inside, and you will be dropped from the top of the map when you clip out of the DP. And only the Scout has a chance surviving that fall.
If you are overrun, return to the DP, but do not stay inside any longer than you need to.
Gunner can place and grab a zipline too. Or the engineer can use their platform gun but sticking a platform directly under yourself while falling is a very hard shot. Scout has the only sure chance.
Thats not true, the other day a friend was afk at the start and he got knock out even tho he was inside
Enemies can definitely attack you inside the drop pod, they dont even need to come inside. They can hit you right through the walls.
Yeah if you afk in the pod it will still take off with you in it. Anyone can survive it too with the hover boots if they are good.
If you land on a praetorian or another player it negates the fall damage as well
I love how every group has their own names for certain enemies. We call "Dave" big red (mostly because nobody remembers the name. We had an escort mission and we all decided to ride the doser as it was digging through the ground and suddenly we all exploded and team wiped and all that was left was a golden crater... Damm big red
Dude this exact thing happened to me a week or two ago, everyone wiped cuz the escort thing drilled into a Bulk Detonator :D
One time i had a spawn in refining where the refinery was at the lowest possible level while all 3 morkite wells were incredibly high up and on the other side of the map, and this was in the magma core so the only tunnel up just *had* to be full of scorched ground and flame geysers. I was the host and was the only driller so everyone left and rejoined as driller, we then proceeded to make the greatest pipeline system known to dwarfkind.
My favorite start to a game had EVERY BIT of area covered in bugs. The doors opened to a truly insane scene of chaos.
I love how you did the subtitles. Great video lol.
As youre descending: "This will be the end of us"
Wise words
'From where you're kneeling it must seem like an 18-carat run of bad luck. Truth is... the game was rigged from the start.'

I do love the sheer panic that this game puts into you
Mission control knew what he was doing when he sent you into that hole
back in the good ol days when the leeches were terrifying, we had bug d day right out of the drop pod, absolute swarm. 3 of the 4 dwarves get leeched right out the gate, and the last one clueless and swarmed, good times
You know, I always wondered why my one friend would always make me put on the Iron Will perk... now I understand.
One time the drop pod decided to float in the air when it spawned, and since it goes back in the exact location I got lucky when the end of the mission was happening and I had to slowly fly over using a cave angel, it was kinda funny but kinda stressful
i love how the clip image is just them wiped out in the failure screen.
If they can work out so my drop pod location dosent fuck the bois and me at the end. Thatd be great. Ive had some where you need a gunners zipline to even have a chance to drop off onto the platform. Just a sick freefall that did kill on first mistake. Shit can be so frustrating.
This is one of those starship troopers landings.
One of my worst was a refining mission with every morkite well at the top of the map with a Dreadnot stomping in with an exploder infestation as the welcoming basket right as the pod went down.
Thank you for showing me that yes! It can, in fact, be far, far worse.
This is how managment gets rid of employees they no longer wish to have they send them to the death pit pretending it's an actual mission
That's why I don't leave the drop pod/the ramp until it's safe to do so.
i can top that by saying i have experience a similar event but for me, we had elite threat on the mission so we had an elite Glyphid Crassus Detonator and an elite Glyphid Menace. On top of that, there were a few more elite creatures. And of course I can't forget the Nayaka Trawler rendering us all useless every few seconds.
I once had a bulk detonator spawn right at the door of the drop pod.. needless to say even with pod's protection, you cannot tank the bulk detonation
It’s like I say
“Some days, Hoxxes REALLY wants you dead”
Or if you're at the end of the mission and you make to the escape pod and the mule is still only halfway through the cave, and you have to survive the onslaught of bugs all herding in front of the escape pod!
It's like the whole insect brigade assembled and waited to get their revenge.
I hosted a game and the pod drop in a huge field of explosive plants. Killed us before we even started
Mission control:
"Deep Rock Galactic Thanks you for your work effort :D!"
I love starts like these. Haz 5 will teach you to stay in the drop ship until it's safe to go out.
The Worst Possible Spawn, The Worst Possible Players
Overkill after waking up in med Bay: that guy in mission control is lookin like he has more than *cracks knuckles* 2 legs
express elevator to hell
the drop pod took you directly to your graves
The worst experience i've had is a nemesis outside the drop pod which quickly grabbed me and my friend instantly ending the mission as soon as it started.
When mission control has enough of the dwarves, and decides to end their lives
And this is why you never leave the drop pod immediately.
I joined a few seconds after a game started and might have had my personal pod land on the drop and immediately fell to my death
A perfect situation to demonstrate how op the cryo driller is
Bulk Detonator: For you, Dave. For us, Ceccè.
and this my friends, is why you stay in the drop pod for certain mission types, such as extraction
"Driller, you could solve this in seconds."
There was one time when I entered a mission and the moment I see the doors open I was met with a Crassus.
I almost had a panic attack, but at least I got some gold out of it
Whatever happens, it's the Scout's fault
protip: when in doubt, just start fucking drilling. dont even wait, just go.
Usually a solo player so I'll just say my worst: my pod literally dropped on the ghost and he was able to hit my ass twice before I was outta the pod but the really bad thing was that I was stuck in a small hole in the sand caverns with no idea where to go because of the storm that happened and that ghost fucker was about 3 feet behind me I just completely panicked and started digging into the wall I got EXTREMELY lucky that it was a thin wall that opened into a large cave and I booked it I survived the incursion but damn was it a hell of a way to start
The first time me and my buddies went to try h4 our drop pod was facing a wall, we walked out around the pod, immediately got killed by a bulk detonatorand failed the mission lmao.
I once had a spawn, decent cavegen but a detonator was around a corner, a bunch of bugs come out of nowhere and a nemesis grabs me out of the drop pod and we all got mauled by bugs
When the launch team is tired of the barrels in the launch bay
me and my friends, on one of our first DRG missions, decided we wanted to speedrun for shits and giggles. the drill landed, we all jumped out, and then we were on the defeat screen due to not being able to see the floor upon jumping out.
I just played a haz 4, my standard difficulty that I can complete mostly easily. For some reason we had haz 5 lvl swarms back to back, as we were killing the last of the swarm another would be called in and this proceeded for about 5 swarms before everyone started running out of ammo. Easily one of the hardest missions I've died to, and it makes me believe drg has some hidden sliders for missions as I've had much easier haz 5 missions and this supposed haz 4. I love that you never know what they are dropping you into
Or a Mission with two Players where 3 Menace Glyphides kill a Teammate and while trying to resurect two Bulk Exploders come around the Corner and Instant kills me...
"This will be the end of us" - For once the Scout wasnt wining for nothing.
This is a mission control moment
This is why you don't put foreign objects in the launch bay.
Once spawned with a full ambush, an oppressor, a bulk detonator, and a nemesis right on the entrance
The driller thought he needed to fight instead of drill no wonder. LMFAO
yesterday I dropped into Azure Weald and a Dreadnaught Hiveguard was waiting for me just to say hi, I was like, "Wtf"
This is what happens when one person fails to "Rock-and-Stone" back.
If I was the gunner in this situation I would of thrown a shield down a bit sooner.
Glad me and my gang arent the only ones that get flustered like this lmao
silver driller, makes sense. still gotta learn the instict to drill up to areas immediately
That bulk detonator... that's too much.
"management's spine is mine now"
XD
This surely inspires me not to mess up like my former colleagues
I was playing hollow bough, double det, one crassus, one bulk, and literally six stabber vines on a haz 3 complexity 2 cave
*chuckles in Iron will*
*Dies again*
Funny DRG stories?
One point extraction a tritilyte deposit we had missed blocked the escape pod door. Not even the scout could grapple in from any angle and the mission failed.
In hindsight if we had tried to clear the event it would have removed the blocker. But with the shorter escape timer of PE and time spent trying to squeeze in it would have cut real close if possible at all.
I mean you guys seemed to take it well, kudos.
And here I thought getting snatched by a cave leech as soon as I leave the drop pod in solo was a bad spawn...
I once had my drop pod land in front of a detonator and a dreadnought cocoon that got opened somehow
They did not even get to have a chance to fight at the huuli hoarder
Had a similar situation but I was on the other side of the map with engi and we having a terrible time all because of a trio of dets and four oppressors and pretty much whatever else decided to say hello and try to kill us and it was very near the end aswell
"this will be the end of us"
One of my favorite spawns was me and my friend walking out, and immediately running into a detonator. Well, I feel into one by accident and died to fall damage, than I kept trying to warn my friend about it, but he was distracted by ore and didn't notice it until it was on him, and acted surprised about it. Like, bro, I warned you about it lol.
i once dropped into a cave with 12 spitballers and 6 more throughout the rest of the cave. but also why didnt you do anything to get out of there as the driller? if you went straight into the wall and your team followed you would have been fine
One time me and my friends were doing an elite deep dive and the drop pod landed right in front of a nemesis. It was our first time finding it so we had no idea what to do and we wiped
Welcome to the pit! We have: bugs, and, despair.
I once got off the drop pod with my team and walk for 5sec together to get one shotted all of us by a sneaky detonator that just came to say hi from the cliff
Mission Control be like:
"Damn waste of fuel.."
I was in a game once and had a lithophage Corruptor block the only path to take right at spawn. I was playing with people who seemed new to the game and felt so bad for them.
Damn, I had a similar experience to that earlier today while soloing the fungus bogs. The only differences were the difficulty was Haz3 and the Bulk Detonator reached the hole after I zip-lined my way to freedom.
And yes, I said zip line, not grapple. It was either that or waiting for the Bulk.
ive had the inverse of this where it spawned us on the top of one of those giant spires you sometimes find.
Only reason it was terrible is we had no engineer, too steep for ziplines, and the digger didnt watch his step lol
Damn whoever rolled the die got snake-eyes for sure
I once landed in a EDD, in azure weald. hiiigh up. Engi jumped off and died on impact, even with his plat. He might have taken damage on the way down. I driller, (not played by Will Smith) with little range, try to jump off on a root, but the 5-6 mactera shoot, i try to be clever (panic) and fall off. Scout finally lobs cryo but now me and engi falling have triggered a spitballer and the rest of the spawn bugs. So when he comes down to rez, he gets a nice cuddly overwhelming pile.
Gunner with his shield is ofc the last. He shields on the.. gangplank. Problem is, we are all out of the pod so it leaves. Taking his shield with it and about 0.2 seconds after that he is overwhelmed, spitballed and GG.
