Maracas Solo / Demo - Advanced Techniques - Meinl Percussion

- Demonstration of basic and advanced maraca techniques with a short, groovy solo at 92 bpm. Not a drum tutorial / class / lesson on how to play the #maracas or beginner playing techniques, but I hope it can help you find new ideas, for that incredible Latin #percussion instrument, one of the most ancient and authentic indigenous rattle instrument of both Americas and the Carribbean.
The deal for this episode 8 was to explore in a minute as many sound possibilities and techniques the regular Cuban maraca playing position could offer, without switching to a maraca llanera holding position, which, in terms of sonic and rhythmic possibilities, I have absolutely NO ambition to compete with, considering the incredible complexity and virtuosity of Venezuelan and Colombian maracas llaneras and the amazingly beautiful repertory they are part of!!!
Playing here the #Meinl MSM3 Traditional Rawhide Maracas, a well-balanced and robust instrument, with a sharp and warm sound (no plastic here, only organic material!!!:))). Very precise and versatile, although not as loud and easy to handle as professional plastic-made equivalents, this pair of high-end maracas will fit all accompaniment purposes, from a discreet bolero to a powerful salsa.
#SixtySecondsShow #Episode8: no high/small percussion is meagre... :):))) Enjoy!

You play instruments how they are meant to be played. AWESOME!
Thank you!!! :))))
His hand movements are both an musical artist and a culinary one.
Thank you! I'm a terrible cook though...:)))
One of my friends thought the maracas were easy so I showed him this video.
Hahaha! That's the point of these videos! Thanks for showing it!:)))
Any instrument can be hard depending on the part
Enterly level easy but like most skills there's layers of hardness
@@absolutelyshmooie7086 indeed, but some appear easier than others at first sight
@@all9472 and that depends entirely on the instrument. For example, as
you said, most hand drums (for instance) can be played almost immediately by beginners, and the difficulties reveal themselves later on. Some others on the other hand (thinking of North Indian tabla for example) will require months if not years of practicing basic sounds and coordination before being able to play some basic stuff on it
I like maracases! The sound and everything is so great! Thanks for such a good work
Thank you very much! And you're most welcome:))
I love this so much. How on Earth do you get such skill and accuracy? I love it. ❤
Thank you very much!:)))
And it's at everyone's reach! it's all about time, practice, and dedication!:))))
Cheers!
its cool how similar they are to drums and other percussion. i will have to get a pair to go with my djembe and bongos!
That's wonderful and inspirational
Thank you! 😇😇
Great performance with the MSM3 maracas what do the MSM4 Jumbo maracas sound like ? I never see anyone playing the Jumbo Maracas , there are no demos or videos on them at all. I have a pair of the MSM3's . I really like them a lot . Thanks for the video !
Thanks a lot!
Well, large maracas are the most commonly used, although I find they get pretty loud, more suited for a (proper) large ensemble, when it comes to salsa music. But all techniques I demonstrated are definitely achievable in any pair of Cuban maracas, no matter the size
Exelent thanks
Thank you!:)))
Very nice.
Thanks!
You moved with grace. Is it okay to use your sound as a sample for free?
Thanks:)
For the sample, it depends of what you will do with it: if it sticks to the legal frame of ''fair use'' and it is credited, then you actually don't need to ask.
:)
Great
Thank you!:))
EPIC
Thanks!
Great video mate. The kids will like this. Short and to the point.
Thanks a lot! Glad it can be of any help:)
Aye bro. I understand if you ain't in it for clout and just to take videos of your absolutely amazing skill but bro, if you took this to Tik Tok, you'd gain hella traction. I mean personally I can't stand tik tok but there's been hella musicians on there, getting their lucky break and if you decide to go to that platform and do your magic, like you're doing here, I'm sure that can be your route to gain hella views if that's what you wish. I mean you are out here making an entire song that's engaging WITH ONE FUCKING PERCUSSION LIKE THE FUCKING MADMAN GENIUS YOU ARE so I'm sure ppl will notice. Just wanted to put that out there and that I'm proud to see you master your instruments and will be sure to stay tuned. Anyways take care man, nice playing.
hahaha:)) Thanks a lot, really appreciate it!
Indeed, I am as little present as possible on social media, and tiktok is definitely the first on my hate list:))) But I'll think about it...:)) Thanks again!
@@EmmanuelSimonWorldPercussion of course man, I just wanna see everyone get what they deserve, ye feel me?
Thanks mate:)))
Amazing Talent
Thanks!!:))
I agree
❤
Thanks!
When I play the maracas I go chick-chicky-boom, chick-chicky boom~
Lol:)
Guys. Importent news. Guys...!!!!
I have discovered a new easter egg...
(Just wait and see)
Play all of these wonderful videos at the same time, each in different tabs. The beat you will hear is a special flavour...
Peace out to all countrymen. M. B. x x x
Hahahahaha, nice one! I just tried: improbable polymeter-polyrhythm-polywhateverwecancallit!:))) But the resulting texture is defintely something!!! Cheers:)))
Yecch!
Always appreciative of mature, elaborated comments, constructive criticism and benevolence on CZcams:) Thanks:)
Which model of maracas is this?
Read the description entirely.....:)))
When will nee video come?
Soon hopefully, working on it:))
🆒
Thanks!
What brand maracas is this?
Check the video full description, it is mentioned there.....:)))
@@EmmanuelSimonWorldPercussion there is not the jumbo model? I have the msm2 and 3 and it's look like different haha Big hug m the video helped me a lot
@@ezequielgavio157 Glad the video could help! Indeed the msm3 model I play here is the medium-sized rawhide maracas that Meinl offers, the msm4 will be bigger, the ''proper'' maracas size for salsa combos. I also own a larger Pan con Queso hand-made large maracas pair, but I still like the polyvalence of the medium model Meinl (msm3) offers, very sharp (thanks to thin beads), discreet enough for smaller ensembles (not necessarily Latin music) and still loud enough (with the help of a mic though) for louder ensembles
António Maracas
Have you ever played in orchestra?
What kind (genre of music) of orchestra?
@@EmmanuelSimonWorldPercussion Any of them
Of course. Many.
tremendo cumbión
Gracias!
Yours look darker than the new ones, like yours better.
I don't know if Meinl has updated this model of maracas (bought these almost 15 years ago - time flies!:):):):) , they actually look quite brighter in real than in this video, forlighting and luminosity reasons I believe:)))
Cowbell please
You mean, ''more cowbell''?...:)))
@@EmmanuelSimonWorldPercussion cowbell, cencerro, campana...
@@SENC2014 yes yes, got it the first time, was just joking...:)
The 2 next videos I'm working on will be on flamenco castanets and caxixi, but cencerro is definitely a good idea for the one after, thanks!
@@EmmanuelSimonWorldPercussion good !
Take a bite at the end of that huge turkey 🦃 leg 😂
Lol :))))
What’s a geologists favourite instrument? More-rock-as
Hahaha, nice one:)))
How the hell did I end up here?
Hahaha, mysteries of the AI:)
Can't hear anything.
All i can hear is metal drumming oddly
we can see its not it first time using maracas a real professional
Not the first time indeed!:):):)
so many farms expiring during this video 😢
any one from familyguy ?hhhhh
You don't know how to play maracas. You remind me of my little nephew.
Wow, your little nephew must be damn cool.
@@EmmanuelSimonWorldPercussion yeah he must be well accomplished..with atleast 10 or 15 years behind him.
Somebody get this man an iron
