- This April, Boston Dynamics announced the discontinuation of their hydraulic Atlas and introduced the successor, a completely electric Atlas robot engineered for practical applications. The new electric Atlas looks stronger, and more flexible than its predecessors. The forthcoming iteration of the Atlas program is a culmination of more than 11 years of research, reinforcing their dedication to providing the most proficient, beneficial mobile robots that address the most demanding issues in the industry today: with Spot, Stretch, and now, the new Atlas.

I like that you brought up competitors, but boston dynamic still seems heads and shoulders above everyone else
I agree, Boston Dynamics are streets ahead of the competition. I mean, how much have learnt by trial and error over the last 11 years with Atlas HD? Everybody else like Figure, Apptronik, UBTech, LimX Dynamics, Sanctuary are just doing catch up... Thanks for the comment! Very much appreciated :)
Really cool and scary at the same time! 😮
the one with the wheels handle or whatevery it was called was the best hunter killer design imo.

New Atlas looks sick! Scary to see those omnidirectional movements.
I love the new more compact design. Can’t wait to see more releases from Boston Dynamics!
My boy c3-po standing up is something straight out of a horror movie, and a good horror movie... God I love it.
Your content is very professional and informative!
I appreciate that! Thank you. I have had the odd thumbs down for some reason. But comments like yours motivate me to do better :)
Definitely a robot to build a lunar or Martian colony in the near future.
That would be an incredible achievement for humanity! Thanks for the comment.
I’ve always been impressed with Boston Dynamics and what they’ve been able to accomplish; however, their new Atlas may be a leap forward when it comes to capabilities, but it is also creepy as hell. And not the “uncanny valley” sort of creepy, I’m talking about the “this is how a sci-fi horror movie” begins level of creepy.
It is the way to moves like a horror movie scene and the speed of the movements that are freaking people out.
This finally hit the point of creepy for me.
Atlas movements do look creepy indeed… 😂
They haven’t lost any time! 😂
Indeed within 24 hours of releasing news of Atlas HD, the video came out.
Don't you think it's more efficient to give these robots wheels like Wall-E's?
Why not legs, since this world is design by humans. Having a wheel robot is very limited! Also Atlas is designed beyond the capabilities of most humans. Boston Dynamics is definitely the head of the part, since they have years of experience of testing the old Atlas.
I think 1X Technologies have gone this way with their EVE robot but this may limit how versatile the robot can navigate in difficult terrains. It would work well for manufacturing sites with flat surfaces and could simplify the design. That's a good point.
Replacing hydraulics with electrics was the way to go for Boston Dynamics. Servo motors are slimmer and more intelligent with force sensing feedback these days, it makes it easier to generate smooth movements while packing a punch of torque to carry heavy loads. Everybody else like Figure, Apptronik is just doing catch up with Boston.
Robots will leap planets into the universe. Colonize across the expanse.
NASA and other Research Institutes in Europe are already investigating the use of robots for space exploration. Space is harsh environment so those robots will have to be bullet proof design to survive! Thanks for the comment :)
@@CuriousLion-ll2we all of us who love sci-fi already picture cities of robots! Lol
Futurama helps envision that future too and maybe a few other sci-fi creations. Lol
@@randymulder9105 I mean, 20 years back these robots were impossible... 20 years from now, who knows.
@@spidey1100 China sending an android soon.
Imagine, robot decides to continue on...lol
The Boston Dynamics Dog Robot looks electric. So this isn't really a New Era for them. Just a new humanoid shape
That's true. They have been playing around with SPOT for quite some time now. It will be interesting to see if Boston can integrate the smooth movements of the hydraulic Atlas into the new full electric counterpart.
That’s true. 😊
Telsa, give up on this market. This isn't your thing.
With the EV car industry having a wobble at the moment, I think Tesla are trying hard to diversify their market as much as possible before it is too late and file for bankruptcy in 2-3 years at this rate. Optimus looks promising though but they are miles behind Boston Robotics.
@@CuriousLion-ll2we I've owned a Tesla, and I don't anymore because I don't want one. At first, they were the only ones with a high-range EV and good charging infrastructure. But that's no longer the case and the public is SO OVER the "minimalist design". It's not too much to ask for a speedometer and turn signals directly right in front of the driver, to name just one. And touchscreens are annoying (in ANY car) when a car is in motion. The touchscreen was cute and clever, but gimicky.
The public wants buttons and knobs, so get over it Elon.
Whew! I think I just got triggered. ;-)
The EV market is in shambles 😂
@@charliehorse8686 God I fucking love buttons. It's a crippling joy of mine.
robot (dead) voice for narration kills the video.
it is better than other AI voices but not perfect. I admit. Thanks for the feedback.
Excellent choice of points to cause fear for human life, and More Important what stocks to buy for lonng invest. Xiéxie
