Haha I never see Barov in my lobby, he sux. But... when you do see him, there's a chance it's a group que, then it won't matter what strat you use, and Barov becomes OP OP
A good change would be to have Barov's hero power cost 0 for the next turn if a gamble ends in a tie.
A more fun change would be if you saw the opponents warbands

He had 6 minions on the board, so the 9/15 poisonous was the last minion he could play. If he played the 9/15, then he had no more room to put the divine shield anywhere, he had to sell a minion to make room.

I've played this guy about 12 times and won 9 out of those. The key is not to use his power till you get to 8 gold, most people tie early on. Then use gold won to tavern up super quick. Build a strong board early and stick with the curve, by turn 6 you can see who has what and who is generally winning matches.

I always do quite well with him. It’s the draws that screw you over. But I’ve finished first a lot with him. Use the coins for buffs not upgrade tier. Being greedy will get you destroyed

At 13:23 Ligthfang seems to buff the Murloc (The Felfin Navigator) that is still in Bob's tavern, Kripp didn't buy that one. Has Lightfang always done this? Buffing the cards in Bob tavern if you own the same card at the time and it gets the buff. I'm sure this would only be a visual bug or it works so that buffed cards don't actually go in to the pool. But is kinda odd it would do that especially considering that if you have the same card twice Lightfang would only buff one of them.
Also I'm really interested into this as the cards you can buy are apparently considerd "the deck" of Bob and he is considerd a player or something similar. Some say it is because Battlegrounds is probably based of hearstone arena... and so made for you and an opponent. Any case I'm saying this because you can actually damage and so probably also kill minions in Bob's tavern and they will retain their new stats (as damaged stats) once you play them after buying them. This includes losing abilities like divine shield.
And presumably if you would buy all Bob's minions and you attacked you will hit bob and I don't think anyone has a clue what happens then. "How much health does Bob has, does he has health, can he die, what happens when he takes damage,...)
And if you wonder what can ever attack a minion in Bob's tavern in the buy fase, well the answer is a Sky Pirate. And how do you get a Sky Pirate to play? You can steal one with Rafaam if your opponent has a Monstrous Macaw that triggers a Sky Pirate. The Sky Pirate will attack immediately once spawned and if it dies and you hero powered as Rafaam then you will get a playable Sky Pirate.(and of course it's the first thing to die) Also your opponent has to have a place left on the board to get the Sky Pirate. If that happens you get the Sky Pirate as an actual card and once you play it in your buy fase in Bob's tavern it will attack a (seemigly random) minion.
I don't know how many people saw this or how many times it is recorded/viewed happening. As it is a rather unlikely situation wich is only made possible through quite a bad situation/"deck" That is only possible in early game/early mid game. And it was back in Jun 17, 2020 so maybe it is no longer possible but the system on which Battlegrounds is based is definitely still the same so the same rules probably apply, being buyable minions are attackable and what more.
I don't know whether many people know this or how Battlegrounds is made/works but I think "nobody" of the players actually fully knows. So this is quite cool info and might interest some people hence the long explanation. I got all my info from this video made by Arumba one of my favorite yt and twitch content creators he mainly does/did Startegy games being mostly Paradox (Ck2, EUIV), Factorio, Hearstone,... He made an awfull lot of video and streams an awfull lot (he is on a yt video break for the moment but still streams all the time on twitch, epic plug). XD Arumba07 or just Arumba on yt.
He has done many other strategy games and played Path of Exiles, Dota 2, Stardew Fortress, Dwarf Fortress, you name a straegy game odds are good he played it. And he is quite good in about all games really going deep in the technical side, getting as efficient as possible doing the math but always open for silly tricks to seek or try new strategies to spice it up. So really like Kripp in many ways. He has Excel emotes and regulary convinces literal thousands of people to watch an hour of Excel calcuations. XD I remember him doing litterally a full Excel stream just around 6 hours doing game math to figure out what the game actually does as games never actually say what they do in the tooltip. And if it says it's vague or just plain wrong in the majority of the time and so in strategy games it's important to know what it actually does, hence the number crushing. But as he said that was probablt the biggest Excel (math program) stream on twitch. XD

Lord Barov is actually a really good hero imo. The only two runs I got with him were 1st place (pirates and murlocs)
I agree, it seems really nice to me. I got two first places, one second, two thirds and fifth. I am at 9k rating. I guess people just don’t know how to plan ahead with him yet

Dude, so true.. It's really sad to see because he used to be super good at ARPG's and WoW, both mechanically/skilled and with the bigbrain stats/spreadsheets behind it. It almost as if he has that disease (can't remember what it's called) that elder people get where they just slowly before less and less mobile, but the head remains intact.

Probably an addon or some combination of background software interfering. I won't be surprised if he knows how to avoid it and chooses not to so he can have an excuse for when he screws up.
His used to not lag this bad, it's something fairly recent. So it's either an update that's caused it (probably an update from an addon) or something he doesn't have configured properly. It's nothing on Blizzard's end causing it because it's not happening to any other streamer. I suspect he knows it's nothing from Blizzard and at this point is just using it as an excuse because it makes things more exciting.
@@remnant24 He does know how to avoid it. Simply restarting the game removes the lag. He should have done it against the ghost when watching the fight was meaningless. Probably doesn't so he has the lag excuse when he makes bad plays 5 seconds before the rope burns out.

If you are very good is like 1.4 gold x turn.
A decent pay out. Maybe a little to dependent of the first turns getting lucky for not taking to much damage. But that is the how the champ works.
if a group snipping is a thing, this gamble thing kinda puts a new level of snipping fun for us.... :)

Finally a video on this hero so that I can say that it's absolutely garbage that it steals your gold on a draw. Had 4 late game draws when I played and it just adds another layer of screw you over bullshit that this game mode certainly doesn't need.

I've noticed that EVEN when winning, the game is full of spite, salt, cursing and feelsbad - and I'm not talking about Kripp alone. I've watched other fulltime BG streamers and they are kinda frustrated almost all the time. I guess that's just how it's designed: 90% frustration, 5% 'okay fine' and 5% feelsgood. Why? IMO because there's so little control over what happens. Hero roulette, then roll roulette, then matchmaking roulette, then combat roulette, then triple roulette, discover roulette. And I thought original HS was rng clown fiesta
Streamers often play this in thought of winning because of their skill to play, but they tend to forget that its the skill to calculate percentage that defines who wins a lot and not. Ergo, they get angry because the game doesnt feed them what they think they will get because the odds are generally high, but you can flip a coin and land tails 1000 times in a row, and despite the percentage dictates its more or less guaranteed to get heads the 1001th time its still 50/50. Why dont people understand this >.
