Love this film. Don't care what anyone says. It's a Christmas classic to me. Also, of all the other Arnold films this one will be shown every year during Christmas without fail so it could potentially be the movie he is most known for as time goes forward. The actor who played the son also played young Anakin Skywalker. Rita Wilson (Howard's wife) is the real wife of Tom Hanks.

Joe Pesci was originally chosen to play Myron, since he worked with Chris Columbus in "Home Alone". But Sinbad was chosen instead because of his similar height next to Arnold. Having a short guy next to the 6 foot Arnold Schwarzenegger would've been too similar to "Twins" (1988), another Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. Sinbad was given the offer to audition while he was with First Lady Hilary Clinton and Sheryl Crow on a USO tour in Bosnia-Herzegovina (For spreading charity and entertainment during a brutal genocide and civil war going on in the Yugoslavian country). He did the audition and the filmmakers loved it!
    * Funny thing was that Sinbad was on the verge of quiting his acting career and he thought that he "messed up" his audition, but luckily, the audience loved him! And at first, the filmmakers were uncomfortable with Sinbad playing Myron since his comedic performance would've been affected by playing a villian, but Sinbad was convinced that his comedic-villain character would generate sympathy than hate from the audience. And indeed, Sinbad did put on a show!

Nice reaction. This is a special family movie for us. We discovered it by accident while traveling to visit family for Thanksgiving. We spent the night in a hotel at the midpoint of our trip and this movie came on my wife and kids really enjoyed it. The next year we made the same trip and stayed in the same hotel and the movie happened to be on again. So, it's become a tradition for use to kick off the Christmas season with this movie. Now, my kids are grown and they don't get excited about it as they used to but it's special for my wife and I as it takes us back to our trip to visit her family for Thanksgiving. It was probably the trip home when the move was on since it would have been after Thanksgiving. It also reminds us of having kids and trying to find the hottest toy each year. Now, we can order online but back then we had to go to actual stores.

When I was a kid, the big toys were always the latest Star Wars toys. I would always get a lot of Star Wars stuff from relatives, but it was always the secondary, rarely the main toys. But I loved them all, even if I did have more Storm Troopers than anything else. :D

I have this on VHS somewhere. Good cheesy family friendly Christmas flick. Merry Christmas! Have you watched his film Eraser yet? It's good. RIP Phil Hartman. Arnold's son in this is young Anakin Skywalker and his mom is played by Tom Hank's wife Rita Wilson. Good seeing Sinbad in here too. This is the second film that Arnold and James Belushi have been in (Red Heat, 1988). Martin Mull from Clue is the Radio DJ.

I said a few days ago you'd both enjoy it, I know by now you enjoy a bit of silly fun and approach in the right way to appreciate that type of movie. Hell my 2 favourite comedy films are 'Hot Rod' and 'National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1' (a spoof of Lethal Weapon 1 - 3). It doesn't have to be clever, just make me laugh.

Sometime last month I was at Walmart and actually saw a Turbo Man for sale. It was such a nostalgic trip to see that toy. Unfortunately I didn't buy it but it was fun to see. It is great to see you two watching this film. Have a Happy Holidays!
