  • The Aggies have struggled all year to find out who they are on offense and defense; Auburn may have been just what the doctor ordered in realizing who we are as a team. If true, we may have unlocked the barriers to get to what we most desire.

      It definitely seemed like it, I think we also woke up our nickle. Bryce Anderson had a really solid game and looks like he will thrive in that role provided it stays that way. He happens to cover really well, but I just thought he was in the perfect role for him this week.

    My concerns from this game:
    1. Auburn had a lot of wide open receivers that the QB could have hit for big yardage if he held firm in the pocket and took the hits. I think KJ Jefferson will be able to do that.
    2. Hard to tell if Durkin is working or Auburn’s offense is just horrid
    3. Looking forward to Arkansas, I think they looked like a really complete team on the road against LSU. We could lose that game easily especially since it’s a neutral field. Secondary still looks weak and the pigs have some tall, really good receivers.

      fair points, its always hard to proportion out how much is us vs how much is them. Some have pointed out that we wouldn't do well against a good QB, to that I have responded that we had/have a good QB and look how the Miami defensive game plan played out. We are certainly not going to play perfect each play, and I think we will always be able to point to some busts, or coverage that wasn't tight. However, if we play aggressive, it should be more difficult to exploit those weaknesses in theory.
      Jefferson worries me because they RPO a lot and he works out of the pocket or on the move as well as anyone. should be a good game.

      Shout out to max Johnson a world class Aggie
      Hope everything heals for the other world class Aggie connor

    I’m an auburn fan it was a great game. I would not get to excited about max Johnson from this because when he got in we was down to our third safety. who our coach said was responsible for those plays. Also for what ever reason we did not come after him. An I would like to add we played like this vs cal on offense. But good luck on the rest of season.

      I’m not as excited about Max as I was the way our DC adjust the scheme. Note, we struggled against yalls front the first half way more than we did in the second half. I don’t think that was because of max, but rather the personnel grouping we did. Either way, I do think yalls defense was quite good even though yall might have been thin at some positions. Good luck to yall this season, I hope Freeze gets yall up and running soon like yall are used to.

    Blocking and wrapping up when tackling. Pretty basic but we still need to improve. You’d think by this time all players would know how.

    • @atmcoldchills
      @atmcoldchills  Před 10 měsíci

      No joke! But look at the improvement, I can’t remember us adjusting this much from 2 games before to current like that. Maybe thats because Elko had the basic down better, but it was a sight for sore eyes. Need to see more of it still. I’d like to see the same urgency too, it was palpable while watching the game in person. Our guys were pumped up! Maybe the home crowd did it, but the manner in which they played really impressed me.

    Seek and destroy and run downhill. That's what these players were born and bred for and I loved it. Did Durkin finally figure it out, or has be been hanging back and sandbagging the rest of the SEC. But that would not explain the debacle in Miami. Either way I hope we continue to see a downhill aggressive style of defense. That's the kind of play that earned all these players those four and five stars. As for the scoop and score, I thought it was clearly a forward pass. That was not the issue. The issue is did the receiver make a "football move" after securing the ball? To me, he clearly secured the ball took a step forward and was in between the first and second step when Tyreek hit him. So did that constitute a "football move"? It's totally ambiguous. But it was no less ambiguous after the replay than it was when the call was made on the field. And the call on the field was fumble scoop and score. But it is the nature of officiating in the SEC. It has always sucked, and apparently it always will. That's what all the other fans told me when we first came into the league, and I have to agree. They make aggregious calls in multiple games every week. But it's not just us. The SEC just has the worst referees in the NCAA. I cannot explain that, but I know that all the teams feel like they are being abused by the referees on a regular basis. But I don't think it's deliberate, they are just incompetent. I cannot explain why the best league in the country seems to have the worst referees, but it seems to be consistent and it's probably not going to change.

      @atmcoldchills  Před 10 měsíci

      I honestly thought the same as you on the scoop and score. Most were focused on it being a lateral, and my first thought was did he fumble it? I thought he secured it myself, and you are dead to rights IMO that it was no more obvious after review, certainly not certain.

    Can we sustain this?

    • @atmcoldchills
      @atmcoldchills  Před 10 měsíci

      I think we can, but I think it depend on Durkin more than anyone else. The way he called that game and prepared our guys was night and day different. honestly, the offense has got to be called differently in my mind too. We can’t afford to get QBs injured. Sure, that is on Addazio and the O line, but it looked like we schemed this problem away in the 2nd half. We are deep and RB and WR. A little less deep at QB, but if one goes down, the other looks like they can pretty much pick up where the other left off. So sustain, yes, that depth is there and we can definitely ride it. If we have an injury at DB though, we could take a hit.
