- The most recent episode of “Game of Thrones” took many fans by surprise when Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) lost her virginity to Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). The twist was especially upsetting for Tormund (Kristofer Hivju), the wildling who has spent the last three seasons pining for Brienne and trying to win her love. In an interview with Vulture, Hivju said he understood Brienne’s choice even if it meant heartbreak for his own character.
“I must say on behalf of Tormund, of all his approaches, she has never shown him a single centimeter of affection,” Hivju said. “And Jaime and Brienne have a long story together. So on some level, I can understand her. But when you saw how the episode turned out, you could avoid a lot of crying if you just went with the guy who loves you the most!”

I don't usually get invested in character love archs, a lot of times they get over hyped. But I gota say I loved tormunds crush on brienne. It was so cute and at times hilarious. Though brienne never showed him much interest, I am glad that their arch felt organic, they didn't HAVE to end up together. It's one of the only things well written in the "season-that-shall-not-be-named".
I didnt like it to be honest. I felt like the Tormund in the final season was almost a completely different character to the Tormund that Jon met beyond the wall.

Honestly. I’m the books it feels like that is the end goal. Hound definitely cares for her in his way and I think Sansa grew to realize this and appreciate him for it.
The actor was a great choice to play the hound but the character is much younger in the books.
