    Thanks! It's always nice to capture such problem drivers on camera.

    You have a point there with the road work. Even though Indiana should still have the funds to do their portion of the Tollway, it will take forever for Illinois to get in gear.
    As for the end of I-65, good point. I forgot about that railroad crossing. I'm just glad they made it an interchange because that old light was just odd. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks Geoff! People miss that all of the time! Just imagine when it's dark and they made that wrong turn.

    Exit 249 (109th Ave) was just constructed a year or so ago. All it really does is feed the residential district of Crown Point and provide an easier route to Winfield and Lakes of the Four Seasons.

    Awesome video! I thoroughly enjoy and love your annotation style. This is one of my favorites from you. Excellent work!

    Yes it does. I put your link to the beginning of I-65 in the description. I should've mentioned it. But as for the way it ends, it was far worse when it was a stoplight at the Indiana Toll Road. The interchange gave it something at least. As for the track, well we're ending in Gary. Who else you're gonna play?

    I actually have that song on my playlist! Great choice!
    A few tidbits here: the section between IN 2 and US 231is getting much needed work, but it also looks like it's being prepared for the Illiana Tollway with a third lane in each direction.
    As for the terminus, I remember looking at an old map that showed that I-65 traffic committed to the Toll Road after passing 15th Avenue (a railroad was in the way). The light was a quick fix to connect to the steel mills and the Dunes Highway.

    Very nice drive on I-65 Kristophere, nice scenery and music. Cat and mouse scene with white SUV was comical (people like that aggravate me as well) Good job!

    We use I-65 to bypass Chicago on our way to Michigan (from Missouri). We have found that once the interstate gets the third lane to get over to the far left, since that ramp to westbound I-94 takes most of the traffic (and congestion) that was on I-65.

    Rt. 10 (exit 230) is two exits before Crown Point (exit 247). Rt 2 (exit 240) is the exit before Crown Point.

    Now that 65 has been upgraded from 4-6 lanes from IN 2 northward, can you revisit the interstate again?

    You are right. I'm just glad it was redone. That whole stretch used to be four lanes back in the day! Tough sledding at times!

    I know it sounds like I'm splitting hairs, but the northern terminus of Interstate 65 should be a few hundred feet south of the Dunes Highway intersection due to the at-grade intersection with the driveway to the Alliance Steel building. I know this is small potatoes compared to the old traffic light interchange with the toll road, but it seems wrong to have an at-grade intersection on an Interstate highway. That said, a look at Google Maps (and especially Street View) shows no viable alternative to this intersection.
    The parking lot is on the south side of the building, because there's no room for it anywhere else on the property. Whether you look north, south, east, or west, there's no alternative to the Interstate 65 intersection unless you can convince a billionaire to fund it out of the goodness of his/her heart.
    There's no room to drive around the east and north sides of the building to reach the Dunes Highway. This rules out the northern route.
    There's not enough space between the Alliance Steel building and the neighboring building to route parking lot traffic through there. Access to that neighboring building from the Dunes Highway is blocked by a gate, and this is the only way in or out. This rules out one western route.
    Building an access road to reach Alabama Street would require either cutting through the property of another neighbor or cutting through a swampy area. I imagine that this would be prohibitively expensive and/or involve lots of red tape over zoning and environmental issues. This rules out another western route.
    Building an access road to reach Michigan Street and 15th Avenue has the same issues. This rules out the southern route.
    Building an overpass or underpass to the east of the building would have even bigger issues due to everything to the east of Interstate 65 - a pond, the toll road, and a trumpet interchange. This rules out the eastern route.

      Is it amazing if they have to be honest with the same thing as well as the last time I was not aware of that was the first time in the past year and the day before that was a lot better than usual and the best picture of the interstate highways are so very much easier to get on or off

    True! You will find very little of anything there-light, services, etc. The only saving grace is the 70 mph speed limit.

    4:50 Goodbye traffic! We take this going up to Michigan from Missouri, and we just get over into that left lane and watch the bumper-to-bumper traffic leave us behind! A great feeling...know we're getting close.

    • @TheSolarcatcher
      @TheSolarcatcher  Před 6 lety +1

      Yeah, I don't bother with I-94 to Michigan much. I find taking U.S. 12 to be much more easier and scenic. And it seems like I-94 is plagued with construction. Thanks for watching!

    • @brycecordry6153
      @brycecordry6153 Před 6 lety +1

      Well, we do take I-94 to Michigan, but we always laugh over the fact that most of the traffic on NB I-65 is headed for the Westbound Borman. We always comment that we are glad that we are not having to sit in all that, but instead heading east, which is comparatively free-flowing.
