I drove this from Galena to Rockford during the 2014 blizzard. That was after I had to have my car pulled out of a snowbank. Not fun, but I had clients I had to go see (I am a social worker) and make sure they would be ok. One of the more memorable drives in my lifetime.

This is hilarious when you say " Thank God the reconstruction project is over" 10 years later we are in a reconstruction of I-294
When is the concessionnaire going to bring the ITR up to modern standards?
Great day for a ride, and thanks for the ride along. I'm afraid the days are numbered for the foreseeable future to get out and take these leisurely drives due to current political & social events going on in our country and the world right now. Enjoyed as always, and safe travels to you and your loved ones.
Thanks! I did this in early summer as a bucket list. Trying to head back south, but may not for a few years. These days are more trips with the family.
Welcome back
Hi youre back :)
Good to see you back. I visited the Warren Dunes last summer although you are already past them where the video starts.
Great Video!
Glad to see you posting again! Hope all is well! Enjoy your Fall season! Mark in Iowa. This was a good video! Mark.
Glad to see new content miss watching you
Welcome back!
You're back on the mainland! OK, OK, I know that the series of Hawaii videos were from last year's trip, but I only see your drivelapse videos, not everything else that you do in life. So it feels like you just came back. The St. Joseph Valley Parkway video you mentioned is one of my favorite. The first song in the video "Driving" really made that video.
It's too bad that the butterfly endangered area is between two freeway segments that would’ve been connected if it wasn't for that, but I'm so glad that US-31 was extended somewhere! Also, I find it insane in 2:11, that concrete for the ramp and into the freeway itself was part of the construction of the existing freeway that was completed decades ago, and it only opened to the public just about a year ago. So that particular pavement is not new...the opening is. I am aware that segment was abandoned for many years until the US-31 connection was completed. recently
I had doubts when I heard of this plan as I was worried about the freeway to freeway connection here, but MDOT handled it well. But yes, that pavement is well preserved. It was just a matter of the route. But they did a lot here, especially on mainline I-94 and the business spur.
Awesome to have another series of videos. Great work, man.
Thanks. They probably won't be week to week, but getting there.
😮 Really happy this project is finished and turned out really well too!
So am I. I'm glad they found a solution.
before 2007, you couldn't take 355 to i 80
Nice video! When you were driving, it made me feel that I was in Arizona and not Hawaii😂😂
You are correct. After being in the southwest a few years ago, this stretch definitely gave me those vibes.
You should have driven over that crazy Fort Madison toll bridge. Not many bridges like that on Mississippi, Missouri, or Ohio rivers that I know of.
One of my favorite drives in NE Iowa. Also enjoy the ride on Hwy 18 from West Union to Postville
Wow Yeah
0:25 This looks totally different now, the whole I-270, Lindbergh, Dunn Rd and Taylor Rd interchange has been totally rebuilt twice since we moved here in 1980. 270 wasn't built yet, and Lindbergh, Taylor and Dunn had a 5 way intersection here then.
when was this taken?
2016. I put the year in the last frame.
@@TheSolarcatcher nice what day was it taken it looks like June
What video editing app do you use for your videos? I would like to try it out

History on the road is hard to find
Just found this video. Nice job. I see it was filmed 9 years ago, otherwise I'd congratulate you on photoshopping out the construction. This stretch is getting a major overhaul now in 2023 with more to come on route 8.
My favroite whenever we drive in the iowa quadcitied area (im in qca) is 2:35, when the hill of the interstate ur on kinda drops a tiny bit so you suddenly see all the lights, very cyberpunk like tbh
What a ride! What a series!
you should visit the east coast
