for a budget barefoot shoe, maybe.
But this would be a great shoe for the transition from conventional shoes to barefoot shoes and eventually barefoot.

      @@moredatesmorefiber3526 I have reviewed them.
The TSLA is a replica of the Vapor Glove 3.. a true barefoot shoe.
I would pick the TSLA over the Whitin.
While the Whitin has better material and aesthetics...
The narrow toe box and arch support is a negative.

But would you put Tesla over ALL Whitin models? Whitin has a Barefoot skinner sock-like shoe and other zero drop models… maybe you can do a video on affordable zero drop wide toe minimalist shoes… Whitin, Joomra (I believe they may be the same company), Saguaro, Oranginer, Weweya, and Tesla. Would love to hear your take or analysis of these affordable shoes!

I’m mid-60s male…retired military and retired federal LEO. Through the years in both careers, I’ve had my share of injuries and stresses on my body, that I deal with even today. C’est la vie, I guess. While I work hard to maintain a healthy weight, I’ve been successful there by watching what I eat and drink, and walk, hike, backpack, kayak, and run my Aussie daily! I’ve watched a few of your videos, and you, sir, are an excellent communicator. Your videos are on point…and just looking at you and your condition, you obviously “practice what you preach” lending even more credibility to your message. One of the criticisms of Whitin…is their durability. But at the price point, I say “so what”…wear them 3, 4, 5 and maybe even 6 months…buy another pair. Unfortunately, then they end up in a land fill somewhere….but I think it’s safe to say that even the more expensive versions (vivobarefoot, Xero, etc) do as well, eventually. Again, Bravo-Zulu, amigo….I do enjoy-and learn from--your videos! Be safe, be well, and thank you, again!

I have a wide foot with a high arch. I just purchased my 2nd pair of these shoes. I even purchased a pair for my best friend (personal trainer). He likes them as well. I feel enough support for my arch. I know they're not a minimalist shoe but this works very well for me for walking and light running.

I agree - these are a good transition. I ordered these in women’s and also a pair of Xero Prio cross-trainers.
I’ve worn the usual running shoes for so many years. I have to get used to this zero drop.
I put the Whitins on if my feet hurt in the Xeros after a lot of walking. It helps a lot. Glad to have both.
Definitely culling my shoe collection and moving towards barefoot shoes.

Picked these up a few weeks ago. Great for casual wear and very comfortable. Taken them out for a few runs. The warning that I would give is going uphill for me the heels move a little, which causes ankle socks to work their way down and under my heel. Longer socks have been fine.

Thank you for this review. I just received a pair of these and after opening the package and putting them on my feet, I suspected they weren't really barefoot shoes. You confirmed what I was thinking. I find them difficult to put on, but once I get them on, they are comfortable. With no heel and a decent toe box, I think they will help me transition from my traditional walking shoes. I wore them for a short walk -- on pavement -- this afternoon and they were nice, much easier to walk with a forefoot strike.

Received a pair of these today and only had to wear them for a minute before I got onto the Amazon site and returned them. Extremely uncomfortable. I am size 9.5 narrow and the size 10 Whitins in this model (marked size 43) are too narrow and don’t allow my toes to spread at all. Worst of all is the hard nubbin that sticks out into my arches. I’ve never had any type of shoes that did that, and would never be able to get used it. I’d try the newer “wide” version, maybe, if I knew for sure it didn’t have the arch problem.

  • @Sazoji
    @Sazoji Před rokem

I actually started my barefoot journey last year with these guys in the vine program, but I've now just bought into a pair of vapor gloves and spreaders.
Over time the (I got the size 12, should have gotten 11, got the vapors in 11 since the sock upper folding over is PAINFUL on this pair of whitins, and you need the laces tight to keep the cruddy insole from sliding out) the insole slides out and degraded super quickly. My worst time with these was waiting in a long line (>3 hours, multiple times in a week), without any sort of position to sit or move my legs, is there a better way to stand for a long time in zero-drop shoes?
Most of my walking is on campus, wearing down the rubber to where it is now thin enough to penetrate small thistles...
It's a lot of complaints, but I've worn these guys out daily and the shoe itself survived a ton of abuse, well more than the 40$, but wanted to comment here that they are indeed a good into to zero-drop!
I have a lot of foot sweat and I wanted to ask about wearing socks, I've been fine throwing the whitin shoes in the washer and hang drying, but I'm wondering if I should go with socks on the vapors? I hated socks before I went into zero-drop, often using fabric-top slipons and light sneakers before this, but I dont want to melt the adhesives or have residue build up which seems to be common in the spring with my feet.
Also amazon vine is pushing me to review these super thin carbon insoles, I'm assuming those would do more damage since it looks like it's for "energy return" from heel strikes...

I had to cut the ends of the lace holder since they stabbed the top of my foot with every step, but after i cut them and rounded them off, they were decent shoes. I found that wet roads were a little slippery for the first 2 months and they were incredibly sticky and loud for the first 2 months as well. But theyre durable and have held up for over year while being an everything shoe (lifting, running, working and walking) so id give them a 7/10. Theyre light and comfortable and dry quick after they get wet in the rain.

I run my road runs in aqua clouds from zero but every once in a while where of days I need just a little bit more that’s like a I think 5 mm total and I was kind of wondering, instead of going to a regular shoe if these would work cause I won’t be using that often that’s all I want. I need a little something more I guess so I wonder if they would work for road ridingbecause the other ones from the same brand are really just a shoe and the rubber underneath is really hard and it wouldn’t be good for a road
