    I bought this a little while ago but had set it aside to work on the tremendous cars the Elf had sent me. My curiosity got the best of me and I had to put it together. I needed to know how it all went together and how it felt so we cracked open the box and got to wrenching. Please stay tuned until the end and I have a question for you all in order to get this finished off and out running. Hope you guys enjoy and let me know if you guys have any questions.

      They are great kits and they have raised the price on them since but the Racing Fighter is still right around $125-130. The clips in the axles work really well and make life easier assembling.

    I recently built this kit too. I upgraded my son’s HSP Brontosaurus to brushless and used all of the HSP electronics in this car. With the 550 motor, it’s plenty fast and lots of torque. I heard you say that you ordered from Tower Hobbies. That’s where I got mine too. I always throw in a Futaba servo or two whenever I order from them. I like the S148 precision servo. I used to use those Tower Pro MG995/6r servos but I got frustrated because they didn’t always center properly and would drift to one side. I ended up replacing most of them. It’s a shame because those servos work great otherwise but the Futaba precision servo gives me much more control and accuracy.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Před 2 lety

      My driving is crappy enough to warrant precision servos but I understand being frustrated with wonky ones, I have servos drift and glitch at very poor times and when I was driving nitro stuff that could be catastrophic!!! For most of my builds I get cheapies from Amazon in bulk. So far they have done well and no failures yet. Most have not seen too much abuse but some have seen a few good licks and have kept rolling. Tower is the best place I know of to get Tamiya kits and they have great coupons and flash sales!!! I'll check out those Futaba
      utaba servos next time I'm there. Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!

    Hey Addam, as you know I love my DT-03. The final chassis understeers a fair bit so I can recommend some additional weight to the front of the chassis to help keep the front end down. Transformed the drive for me. Look forward to see how you go with this one bud! Keep up the great content 👍🏻

    Hi There Addam, a very interesting kit indeed. Box art does look good, but I’m sure that body will turn out good in your very capable hands. 😊😉 I appreciate that the Tamiya paints are a higher price, even here in the UK, but I think their paints are better quality and cover better than most. I’ve got my notification ready for the next one. Take care, keep well and all the best to you. 😊😉😊

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for the confidence in me I won't make a mess of it! I do love the consistency in Tamiya paints, everyone of them works and colors are always the same. I have used 1/2 can of year old paint and finished with a new one and you cannot tell them apart. I did use some of the Traxxas paint the other day, while nowhere near the amount of colors it works well and is the fastest drying paint I have ever used! I am hoping to get it and another one out this week and get some running video done, getting kinda cold for these old bones so I have to pick my days wisely!

      @@tonysimpson5310 I can certainly see those being better. These plunger style work better than the pogo stick ones but are a bit slow to react. I am thinking about running it and then playing with oils and then doing mods to the plungers and drilling holes to be more like "normal" shocks. I'm sure someone has done it but don't recall seeing it done.

    DT-03 is a very nice chassis for the price. Few weak points tho. Motor mount to body cracks if driven hard and the mysterious C-hub splitting that happened to me few times, i have my own theory about that. Great vids btw 👊🏻

    Hi there Adam , I’ve just decided to purchase this as I’ve always fancied it , I gave in finally ! Just quick question , what speed controller do you have with the kit ?? I’ve found a bargain kit but it doesn’t include that - Ive used a Tamiya TBLE-04S Electronic Speed Controller with my others, is that fine for this model ??

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Před rokem +1

      If you have one on hand sure it will work fine. If you have to buy one then I would just go with the Hobbywing 1060. It is a cheap and handles down to a 15turn motor so it should be more than enough for you. It is a really nice kit to put together and for the price you cannot beat it. I would pick up a bearing set for it. I think it takes 14 5x11x4 bearings so you can get a kit from TRB or Fast Eddy or buy a package of 5x11x4 sealed bearings. I build so many I buy mine in bulk from TRB but for a single build it may be cheaper to a packaged set for it. The only thing I do outside of the bearings is I use 20wt (or 200cst) oil stead of the stock oil which is closer to 30wt. It speeds up the cycle of the shock a lot better yet still offers good resistance on landings.

    • @nikko7507
      @nikko7507 Před rokem +1

      Excellent il purchase the bearings , I’m in U.K. . It’s not a bad price £11.69 for ten pcs ( bearings) best I could find , from China . The hobbywing 1060 sounds great , il get that as they’re well cheap in U.K. … i have a spare RS- 540 sports tuned motor il try that out in the 🏎

    I would go one of 2(3) ways with this. Use all three paints as you rightly said about stripes down the side OR since the body is so sleek, do a WW2 fighter plane theme or submarine theme. I really do not recommend painting it all white with "Gravol" printed on the side and calling it a suppository theme...

      @AddamsPlayground  Před 2 lety

      I think either you will be happy with, I have not run the Neo yet so I can't give a valid comparison yet. Both have pro and cons but I think for the money either will be a last and have a line of hop ups available for them. For a 4wd platform another good ones to look at are the dragon lineup.
