#MonsterHunterWilds #MonsterHunter #SummerGameFest2024 - Hry
I'm loving every single thing I'm hearing about Wilds. No load times, open world-ish, no more tenderizing, you can pick up traps without destroying them, set up camps anywhere. I just need to see some gameplay now!
who would've guess they would bring the thunderstorm from Frontier into mainline...... I CANT ESCAPE THE HIGHLANDS 💀
Ok but the Highlands music :)
I would just like to say this is the best post-demonstration review I've seen so far. I think it honestly helps that the person who saw it with their own eyes doesn't hardly know anything about the Monster Hunter franchise... Everyone else is saying "CONFIRMED" this and that, when in reality it's probably a smaller detail with other implications that they're taking as confirmation for something far different than what was actually shown. Regardless, it was a breath of fresh air to hear someone describe the content quite clearly and without bias, while the MH professional interprets it thoughtfully, without jumping the gun. Great video, thank you for sharing!
Gaijin Hunter also made a great video, second only to this one, but the downside is he didn't see anything himself. He just collected information from those who saw the presentation in Japanese. But it looked to me like he only included reliable information.
Big kudos to you guys for approaching this the way you did. The fact that the lesser experienced person in MH hunter attended SGF, but that you filtered all of that through your more experienced counterpart for clarity and context was a really good decision on your part and made it approachable for both old and new hunters. I can't say the same for everything else I've heard or read following the SGF closed door presentation. So, again, kudos to you guys for doing it this way!
Ash, you did an amazing job collecting info, and Brandon did great interpreting it all. Can't wait for more info this August and i hope this experience gets Ash on board to try Wilds.
Monster Hunter Stories 1 is about to launch and thats very cool, but I'm kinda baffed that Monster Hunter Stories 2 didnt get a discount to coincide with Stories 1 release, specially since Capcom is doing a sale for Rise, Sunbreak DLC, Generations Ultimate and a lot of other games, but not Stories 2. 😕
Strange, cuz i got it the last time there was a discount going on, and it had a discount then, strange not now when it'd be the perfect time too. I mainly waiting for the discount for Dragon's Dogma 2, cuz it definitely has similar issues to the 1st game on launch, so i either want to get it at a discount, or when the inevitable dark arisen-like expansion comes out that fixes alot of similar issues
if I had to take a guess, probably because the people who buy stories 2 will have played the prequel first, and if they enjoy the prequel they're most likely going to by the sequel
this is to say no point in putting something on sale if the target audience will buy it at full price
Wait, is it gonna be $60?
@@plus-delta4477 Stories 2 is releasing at $40 for standard and $50 for deluxe on PS4 the same day as Stories 1. I think Stories 1 releases at $30
Because Stories 2 is coming out on Playstation.
This is so cool! They adapted the environment aspects along with the monsters, its become more in depth in hunting
Why are there so many bots? Damn.
Anyways I’m just as sad for Brandon as he is, would love another Monster Hunter fan’s thoughts on what they saw in the demo. I am glad we can at least see what we can get out of Ash’s impressions.
I appreciate the deep dive, fellas!
I was so curious as to how this game would bring the franchise forward. Rooting the gameplay in the environment is something they've always tried to do, but it really seems like finally able to realize some of those aims. Seems like Capcom knows what theyre doing with this rollout, each new update offers just enough to keep me excited without spoiling too much. Thank you Ash for you coverage and bless Brandon for adding that MH expertise.
Every new thing I learn just adds to: yeah, I can see why they're taking an extra year to develop this game.
You did a great job, it was nice having someone who knows MonHun to help decipher this info. Instead of me yelling at my screen.
so the guy that isn't familiar with the franchise got to see behind close doors demo but the other guy who is a fan of franchise didn't get to? Damn dude lol
That's how they're trying to hype it up. Because the game is for new people, not long time fans of the series. Sadly they don't care about people who were there from the beginning.
@@ant_989 Literally not at all why it happened, they pretty much mentioned in the video that they weren't in the area for them both to see the event. Stir up drama elsewhere.
@@TheFrostedfirefly It's a fact, they stated it themselves around time they released Iceborne in some interview. Newcomers are more important to them than long time fans. That's why they keep changing the formula and keep implementing stuff no one cares about. To hook up new players. To make them excited. I know tons of people who were playing since MH1 on PS2. With transition to new gen with MH World many people dropped the game after 4 generations because it changed so much. It changed core aspects of weapons and gameplay. They don't really care about long time fans which let them create World in the first place. It's sad but truth. Sadly true MH fans are minority now and majority are World/Rise babies who knows nothing about the series. That's why they rather invite to those kind of showcases people who knows nothing about the series because their reception is based on other game genres and series. Inviting people who knew the game since old games is more risky because they might complain how much the game is different than their beloved series.
@@ant_989This argument is fundamentally flawed. They have invited experienced players and those unfamiliar alike to these showcases. And the reception is glowingly positive. Additionally, world is Capcom’s best selling game of all time, and players old and new universally enjoy it. Stop acting like you’re better cause you played the old games and other people didn’t. Monster Hunter is an experience that deserves to be shared with others instead of being locked away and collecting dust. If you really care this much about old monster hunter, than you should spend your energy advocating for the preservation of old games and making older games more accessible aside from emulation and being lucky enough to have both the game and system. You should be happy that at least some of the new fans are going out of their way to play the older games. They want to enjoy the same experiences you did. They’re just as much of a fan of the franchise as someone who’s been there since day one. Alienating people worsens the games and their communities in more than just their perception by people outside of that sphere and you should be ashamed of contributing to this toxic behavior. If anything, trying to dictate who is and isn’t a “real fan” based on what games they’ve played of all things, could not make you yourself any less of a fan. We don’t need this behavior in the mh community, which from both my experience and the experiences of many others, is one of the nicest communities in gaming. Do better.
@@ant_989this is just not true at all. Old fans and those unfamiliar alike were invited to the showcase. It has a very positive reception. World is Capcom’s best seller of all time, and is enjoyed by old and new fans alike. If they didn’t care about their fans there would have been massive outrage. People like you who try to judge who is or isn’t a fan of the series just cause they’ve played specific games do nothing but make this community and game series worse with this terrible behavior. MH is an experience that deserves to be enjoyed by many. If you care about the old games so much, you should not only be happy about the newcomers that are trying the older games, but you should also be trying to advocate for old games to be preserved and accessible to people beyond emulation and the pure luck of having the game and its required system. And additionally, these developers do listen. If they didn’t we would have the slinger exactly like it was in iceborne, clutch claw and all, they would still be trying to make games with underwater combat, mounting would still be insanely powerful. If they didn’t listen then these games would stagnate and fade away, but there’s never been more life and popularity in this series and its community. It is better for a game series to experiment than to stagnate. It is better for developers and companies to listen to their fans and critics. Because if they didn’t do either, this franchise would not have made it that far.
Love how they're making clear design decisions that comes from the benefits of it being an open world game. Nice that they have focused designs instead of just being an open world game just for the sake of being an open world game. Reminds me of the design of Breath of the Wild. Looking forward to this
Good work from both of you. I think you went above and beyond when it comes to relaying the information you had.
A lot of other ppl who saw these behind closed doors demos stated that hunt timers don't exist anymore. You apparently have infinite time.
Also, it was stated that NPC hunters will show up if you S.O.S. flare in offline mode.
Im pretty sure timers still exist. It’s a core mechanic of quests. The timer only starts when you start hitting the monster.
Thank you guys for sharing this, can’t wait!
Excellent info and discussion. Definitely subscribing for more. Thanks for sharing. Monsetr Hunter Wilds sounds like it may be one of the Highlights of this Gaming generation.
Thanks for the video guys, loved the new information.❤
Im lovin all this
Good coverage, and excellent break down of information.
Cannot wait for this one!
Wow, the comments are full of bot accounts, i just reported them all, but there is no option to flag those as bots.
Thanks for the video, this kind of content reminds me of when I was a teenager and came back home to read news abuout new Wii games that were about to lunch, including MHTri.
Technically we did have monsters attacking you in pack in earlier games like Velocidrome and Velociprey.
Excellent music choice!
Something I noticed is that nobody is talking about the palicos doing combat specifically.
I think your wrong about Sekrets, they are going to be an integral part of monster hunter going forward. Since the maps will get bigger and bigger and that added mobility is vital.
31:56 this is a stretch but are they referring to that one “bird up” joke that a popular animator terminal montage puts in his monster hunter animations 🦜
Hunters we have a world we can live in now lol
2:36 wait what? That’s going to be an adjustment
The talk about lightning storms being warned to seek cover and the vague “it might or might not hit you”. Is really scary, granted it may not happen too often but i’m really worried that the game will be filled with annoying features and mechanics that will just completely stop the momentum when in a hunt.
Another thing that i worry is in certain videos i’ve watched is the possibility of having to deal with herds when your just trying to hunt the alpha/drome, going by the 2nd trailer of the npc and hunter having to bait the herd and separating it from the main target would be greatly annoying rather than fun.
There are apex monsters.
Thor magala is the apex of the windward plains, and it looks like a flying wyvern.
Alpha monsters are more similar to alpha pokemon in pokemon legends Arceus.
Can’t wait to catch all the status frogs and lit them in my room!
Dude I hope we still get our rooms back! Or what if you could decorate camp❤
I love how people are like it’s open world… then right after.. can I fast travel lmao. Make it make sense.
Great info, but the music in the back round sound be lower or turned off
31:59 oh gawd its the downy cregs again 😂
Hoping to see more Brandon monster hunter videos in the future!
Do meals just have a time limit now? Or do they expire when you finish killing a monster
Bring back the cactuars
I am like number 567
What was the background music you were using?
Look up the Monster Hunter Jazz & Swing albums! They're also music DLC in World.
@@bigwee125 Thanks!
I have heard they have changed how the bowguns work.
If this is true i need to see the changes before i get this game, as i have played since 3U and played every entry in the series before and after as a bowgunner (both light and heavy).
I’m even more hyped for this game now 🤩 sounds like they are giving us what I’ve wanted for a while. A more open world like BotW, no loading screens and more I can’t wait 😝.
I really need to go play MH World before this drops huh...dangit
On the website they say the desert is the first locale.
The seamless questing is intersting but feels like they forgot about speed running which has been a part of MH for as long as I can remember.
The herd behavior and detail behaviors are all interesting but i haven’t heard how that enhances gameplay.
Great info but i don't think he's supposed talk about the alpha doshaguma.
It’s not alpha it’s apex.
@@djdedan sorry I got square brain 🧠
i like alpha way more than apex tbh
Decipher the noob's mad scribbling during the event to perhaps get some good intel on this demo, i love it. maybe not as informative as a first hand account from a veteran but this will be fun.
Yeah, there's a reason they say this maps is the windward plains and the general region is the forbidden lands. Also they officially said locales. If they are twice the size and have 3 phases, we may get less of them than 5 but multiply by like 6 cause twice the size with 3 flavors to them.
When passing between areas, how wide were teh paths? Could gammoth fit?
So restock is back? OH NOOOOOOOOO!!! Look forward to bad balancing to account for restock spam again in the endgame content. I hope i'm wrong. More bad news, another video implied that farcaster are infinite so fast travel during combat is a thing you just have to nope out at any time for free. With restock this is a nightmare scenario, when it comes to game balance.
I've been asking for more environmental traps since before Iceborne and also asked for traps that hurt either just the hunter or both hunter and monsters alike. This is awesome.
The packs use to be the large monster and it's small monster minions.
Aiming attacks seams like something from underwater combat, in that there were contextual animations for your attacks based on where you were aiming so normally virtical attacks that may miss could become horizontal or vise versa. That idea is cool.
That's not the guiding lands, that's called expeditions. There's no reason to think you can just run from the planes into a volcano.
I keep forgetting that restock exists in rise and world lol. Whenever im low on potions its always an herb and honey trip
I think it sounds cool, but I'm just hoping they're not taking too much away from the fighting aspect of Monster Hunter, aka the main focus of this series for its entire duration maybe except World. Storytelling has never been its strong point, so having too much cutscenes would feel a bit distracting from the hunt. Too many mini games also feel like it would hurt the flow of the hunt. They're neat, but try them happening more than a couple of times, and it'll get really tiring, which happens in pretty much every game.
They've also done the whole lead monsters individually type thing in other games. Spoiler alert, multiple monster hunts suck in basically every game except Rise/Sunbreak where they went too far and made multiple monsters a good thing. If I have to spend 5 minutes every hunt just luring monsters around everywhere, that's gonna feel deflating too. It's good for casual players, but it's basically gonna drive away all the people who enjoy the Guild Lvl 140s or Special Investigations or the EX Deviants
Open world monster hunter?
no.
They said during the live showing that it's somewhere between 2x-3x the size of World in terms of areas
No but its almost getting there. I think whats important rn is making the zones as detailed as possible with every aspect from the bugs to the weather to the monsters and us
@@semekiizuio will there still be multiple? If the whole thing is this one dessert map, even if it has rocky and oasis areas, I can imagine that getting tiring
I hope it can be on Switch 2
The console would probably have to come out soon enough for the game to release on it at the same time as the others since a simultaneous release is a big deal for them, and the console will need to be powerful enough to run it, significantly more powerful than the original Switch. If it all lines up though, it is a possibility, and they just haven't announced it will simply because the next Nintendo console hasn't been revealed yet.
@@mallow2902 yeah, not getting my hopes up but a man can dream
Not if the PC version applies stinky Russian DRM like they tried.
Shit, Denuvo is still unwanted and unfortunately that’s still there on the PC versions
This is Capcom. It's pretty much a guarantee that they'll put it in for about a year or so, then remove it. Just like every other game they've put out in the last several years.
Not personally a deal breaker for me, but if it is for you, I'd plan on either waiting a year or so or getting it on console.
lmao
Not pre-ordering Crapcom games anymore. Will wait for 50% sale. They don't deserve any more if they keep on having shit performance, Denuvo and no mod support.
I don’t really like the new art style
