Amen!.....I am going thru this now!.
I would love to tell you about what i am going through with my claim.
I will say, getting a professional and doing my homework has already got most my roof covered, and after a brittle test I offered for them to do, they invited my contractor to do and document.
I will report back with results soon.
Thanks so much for taking time to make video!

I use this on any house there is enough wind damage.
I use the term repairability test.
I am not at a 100% success rate.
I do win most of the time, because I don’t have the customer file if there is no chance of winning. I don’t push it.
This may also be just a local thing that I’m successful.
The carrier will not do this test around here. They don’t complain when we do it. I only do it on one slope.
I do document the test. I do show the owner.

Coming up on our next video we will be discussing how to perform the simulated repair, what you may run into, documenting the repair, the "what ifs" we have had experience with when using this approach. Hopefully we can give you a little more ammo to help with your success rate. Very glad to hear that it is working for you at least a majority of the time. We are also very adamant about not filing claims without sufficient damage, it only hurts the insured at the end of the day. Sounds like you are doing great and we hope that this channel is helping you in even a small way. Excited that you are watching and hopefully tuning in for more and more info coming soon!

As an IA if you the CTR performs a repairability test and as they attempt to lift the shingle it's tearing or crumbling I'm buying the roof. But if your just saying look granular loss! I'm not writing a narrative for that. Granular loss is a sign of wear and tear. Wear and tear is not covered under the policy provisions of any company I've worked for. As the gentleman in this video states there is a lot a facets to roof claims. Like your state regulations, endorsements, weather reports, ACV and RCV policies...With that being said document, document. Photo documentation is the most important because if the IA can't see it he/ she can't write for it. For insureds make sure your contractor does not perform any repairs your insurer hasn't approved. That way your not stuck with an out of pocket expense or the contractor putting a lean on your house. FYI be weary of storm chasers as my insureds have told me plenty of horror stories. Anyway hope this helps when filing claims.

If there is wind damage, I almost get every roof bought. Except Allstate but they pay after appraisal.

If you remove the lower shingle the top shingle can't seal correctly causing it to not be pre storm. The tar is gone

Most shingle manufacter's no longer use a tar strip now. I is low melt rubber mix, witchance is placed at the underside of the bottom of the shingle's. The only single with the adhesive strip on top side is 3 tab.
