Former NHRA VP of Operations Graham Light discusses the time a movie crew took up space at his Edmonton Raceway during the summer of 1979. The end result was the popular Fast Company flick, with stunt driving from the late Gordie Bonin and Light.
It's a bit over the edge but has those original sights and sounds of fuel racing in the era. We've edited the film to make it more family-friendly, and added commentary from Light. For the most part, it's the full movie.
There's a little cheesiness from the movie that diehards will pick up on, but its minor compared to the joy it will likely bring longtime drag racing fans. - Zábava
My first recollection of seeing William Smith as 'Falconetti' in the mini series "Rich Man Poor Man". He's been in quite a few movies and tv shows but I did not know he was in this movie. He portrays a drag racer pretty good. As the description says, if you like the sport you'll enjoy this movie made back in tha day.
Never forget a funny car on
156 n stoney plain rd. Used ta go to speedway everytime they showed up
The fact that Edmonton was a destination for the racers in the movie is a testament to the fact Edmonton is the drag racing capital of Canada. ITV news, Chuck Chandler track announcer, “you Pacemakers guys are too used to your vans”… the list goes on. I too was an extra, one of 20,000 or so in the grandstands. There’ll never be another Speedway Park.
At least we still have Rad Torque
I have this on DVD
Very Cool👍《☆》Probly the only movie I ever seen where William Smith isn't the Villain🖖😎☮
Fellow Edmontonian here.
My mom's boyfriend took my brother and I to this as extras.
He was friends with Terry Capp.
I went to school with his son

240 Gordie stunt driving. Sure miss him, he was my friend!
That was pretty good movie.. keep them coming!!!!
Good one 👍👍👍😎
Me and my dad are extras on this movie at rhe car show scene Terry Capp was our neighbor and my dad's best friend they both owned custom car shopscl in Edmonton.
Enjoyed!!! 👍👍👍
THAT WAS BACK IN THE GOOD DAYS BEFORE MY TIME BUT NOT BY MUCH I WAS RIDING HOT WHEELS... LOL
Always bugged me that they used a prop chassis on all the upclose still scenes. It's so obvious in multiple scenes the injector and front wheels are different and the body is just sitting on the car all flimsy lol!
This copy of the movie is missing the best parts 😢
Gold
The only mistake that bugs me is at 7 min. where he is starting a dragster and the butterflies are open when it's idling. The people that are suppose to be watching for this need glasses.
What is this? The whole movie with a bit extra tacked on at the start?
Awesome old school movie man!😎
