      Thanks for watching and for commenting! It is a fantastic 1911 for the money. The only downside for me is that the thumb safety is not ambidextrous, since i am a lefty! Hope you get your pistol soon.

    I've got the same Colt Comp Pistol, and I love it. I've got about 1100 rounds threw it now. I agree this thing runs like a timex it just keeps ticking and ticking. No problems of ftf, or ftf, and fte. Tight as well. Nice video

      We are still very happy with the Colt Competition. They hadn't come out with the 38 Super yet when we bought ours, but we have a Tanfoglio Witness Elite Limited in 38 Super and it's a great cartridge. Thanks for watching our video, and for your kind comment!

    Excellent review. One of the better ones on YT I have the Colt 1911 Govn. Competition on order with Bud's Gun Shop. You just convinced me that I made the right choice. P. S. Your son Luke has style.

      Thanks for your very kind comments, and for watching our video! We love the Colt competition 1911. My only nit with it is that it isn't ambidextrous, and I am a lefty. Other than that, it shoots well and has had no issues with reliability. I hope you enjoy yours too!

      I would have grown up left handed too if the Catholic nuns in elementary school didn't wack my left hand (hard. To the point of tears) with the metal end of a wooden ruler while I was writing my letters. "The sign of the Devil, James. Put your pencil in your right hand, and don't let me see you do that again." I always day dreamed of the nuns flying away in their habits.

    • @VegasWestsideShooters
      @VegasWestsideShooters  Před 7 lety

      When I was a kid there was a show called "the flying nun" with Sally Field, you can probably find it on CZcams. I am a surgeon by profession, and I am used to making due with right handed tools, since left-handed surgical instruments are generally not available at the hospitals where I operate, but it would sure be easier to be right handed! Incidentally, Latin for left is Sinistro, which is where the word sinister comes from - all of us evil lefties!

      It's a great 1911. I only wish it was lefty friendly, which it isn't. It is accurate and reliable, great gun for the money!

    Are those the rounds that have that funny sound?? Didn't sound like a gun going off. I am looking @ the colt competition. Could be my first 1911 trim .45?!

    • @VegasWestsideShooters
      @VegasWestsideShooters  Před 5 lety +1

      I think the sound is funny because of the reverberation off the cinderblock walls. This range is very narrow and between two high walls, so it is like shooting inside a bathroom or subway station. I think, for the money, this is a great 1911, and it would be fine in either 38 super or 45 acp (like ours). Thanks for watching our video!

    700? Dang that's a lot of shooting!

    • @VegasWestsideShooters

      Luke uses the Colt for IDPA and shoots 100-150 rounds each match. We mostly use processed ammo from Ventura munitions which runs $60 for 250 rounds of 230 grain ball ammo - we are working on our 4th box. Also we shoot some HSM remanufactured 200 grain hollow points. The only ammo this gun won't cycle reliably is Black Hills semi wadcutter match ammo - otherwise it runs like a swiss watch!

    • @82luft49
      @82luft49 Před 7 lety

      VegasWestsideShooters, Is the Ventura ammo dirty? I purchased 500 rounds from LAX Ammunition for $159.99 (for the first time. Thought I'd try them out) and it turned out to be the dirtiest ammo I ever shot. I would hate to have the same problem with Ventura. Ditto for HSM.

    • @VegasWestsideShooters
      @VegasWestsideShooters  Před 5 lety +3

      We use the ones from CMC - Chip McCormick Custom - so far they have run without a single failure or issue - thanks for watching our video!

  • @trod286
    @trod286 Před 7 lety

    I notice that during the range shooting the shooter is readjusting his grip after each Shot. I was wondering if its the Grip texture or ergonomics of the Colt or the over powering of the Feedback from the Pistol.

    • @VegasWestsideShooters
      @VegasWestsideShooters  Před 7 lety +3

      Probably just my amateur technique! The gun does have substantial recoil since it's a 45 cal but it is definitely manageable. I still highly recommend this 1911. Thanks for watching our video!

    • @trod286
      @trod286 Před 7 lety

      I looking at this pistol closely I'm due for a New 1911.. I wish the 2017 Gold Cup Trophy was available but not until mid summer is what one distributor has told me.

    • @VegasWestsideShooters
      @VegasWestsideShooters  Před 7 lety +1

      So far we have no complaints, and at $899 it was the best bargain for a 1911 with all the features this one has. The Remington R1 enhanced has similar features for about $100 less but I haven't shot that gun and I don't know anyone who has. I think the Gold Cup Trophy is significantly more expensive.

      I bought my 45 in December of last year. I've put about 400 - 450 rounds of FMJ through it, no issues. I did change the mainspring housing to a V-Grip steel one from Wilson Combat (the factory one is plastic). Also the blue sight had to go. It was to dark to see even in good lighting. Other than that it's a great pistol!

    • @VegasWestsideShooters
      @VegasWestsideShooters  Před 7 lety +2

      I would say we are over 800 rounds at this point. We will do an updated video when we get to 1500 rounds, but so far we have had zero malfunctions with this gun. The only ammo it doesn't like so far is a semi-wadcutter from Black Hills ammo. It shoots JHP and FMJ without a hiccup. Thanks for watching our video!

    The rear sight is adjustable for windage AND ELEVATION.
    Luke should be shooting from condition one, not empty chamber for training for defense.

    • @VegasWestsideShooters
      @VegasWestsideShooters  Před 6 lety

      Thanks for pointing out about the rear sight adjustment, i should have mentioned that in the video. When we are at the range, we don't insert the magazine or chamber a round until we are at the firing line, for safety reasons. We have taken a defensive pistol 2 day course where Luke used the Colt 1911, and he was taught to carry in condition one. Thanks for your comments, and for watching our video!

    • @VegasWestsideShooters

      A “tight 1911” does not equate to a reliable 1911 🙄
