This was sooo helpful just in general. Lots of painter insights I had no idea about. Also you are a cool and funny guy. 😎

    Skin seen as material
    Do things in order
    Back to Front
    Proportions (sight and size)
Body Shadow space placements due to Light source
    Directionals (Up Down Left Right)
    Wearing headphones and head tilt
    Values (Darks Lights)
eyedropper would help to transfer original image's correct values
Blend values and contrast values on edges
Indicate the direction of the light source
What pushes and pulls an effect
see the stretch in forms and push it where need be
flip image to reassess what's been placed (mirroring)
What makes the composition hold together (example, shadow being placed lower creates rectangle design shape with body and balance)
Look at large issues first and foremost throughout process
Stuggle with left leg is due to length better shortened for sake of proportion
Where is the light coming from, then place it (Light has place in a picture even though its source is unseen its force field should be acknowledged.

Found the bit about local value changes very helpful! Also good to know I'm not the only one who uses grid based proportions.

16:59 knot? the guy was just shot in the head. this picture is a very famous Frank Capa photograph and depicts a anarquist militiaman beeing shot during the spanish civil war.

eehmm it wasn't a head-shot. Republican militia used to wear a beret with a tassel on the top-front. Even if it was a head-shot, at that distance and with that type of rifle wouldn't be an exit hole. Real gunshots don't look like in the movies, they are much less "dramatic".
