I am a 71 year old dude from Chicago. Been Army for over three years now. You probably can not get more general public than I am. Most of the so-called popular music is just pablum. BTS is real food. They have depth and breadth and height. They are the real thing.

"Slaves to capitalism, slaves to money
Slaves to hatred, prejudice, and revulsion
Slaves to *CZcams*, slaves to flexing
    Selfishness and greed are
frantically rampaging Turn a blind eye and it's all easy,

During the Las Vegas concerts after the Grammy loss, you could see that BTS’s had finally had enough. They got the message loud and clear, and they basically felt that they were no longer going to play everybody’s game. So their current pathway and choices doesn’t surprise me at all because they have finally had enough And they are not willing to play by anybody’s rules anymore. Not the western music scene, not the K-pop music scene and not the politics of whether or not they were going to serve in the military or not. They have had enough and were making their own choices and army is right behind them.

I find comfort in change. It is the way of the universe. However, this greed manipulation that this BRILLANT ARMY described and explained so astutely is an example of entities and organizations who refuse to let go of the monopolizing they have profited from and gloated over for decades. Change is here .......and BANGTANG is the change.

As a retired data analyst and die-hard ARMY I have also noticed many many discrepancies regarding charting of their music etc. The only thing I can say is that BTS rules and ARMY will keep supporting them always. There aren't many "top" artists out there that wouldn't kill to have a fandom like ARMY! And in all honesty if tickets went on sale for a "maybe..lol" 2025 tour today they would be sold out by midnight all over the world and it doesn't matter if it's an arena or stadium!!! Me and my old body will be there supporting them just like I did in Chicago. Have a blessed rest of your weekend.

I have a lanyard with OT7 on it that carries my wallet. I was in the store and the girl recognized them and then started to say that she knew they were on a break or something and that when they came back it wouldn’t be the same. It was so awkward for me to listen to her go on about something she knows nothing about. I for one an going to be saving up my money until 2025 or 2026 just for the chance to be one of the people who gets to go to the first OT7 concert in years and I know there are millions who feel just like me. The “General public” does not understand this and it’s not like you can explain the depth and breadth of what BTS is to a stranger in 30seconds. Time will tell and ARMY will talk by their actions as time goes on. I believe that ARMY will just be bigger than ever when they come out of the military and I can’t wait for the day we get to show them our support in person and prove everyone wrong.

Since she posted this, it has been confirmed that the change that Billboard made was to only count an email address once for album purchases. So, it doesn't matter if a person forks over the money for 10 albums, it was considered a single purchase if they used the same email for the purchases. What made me laugh was that Jimin literally lost 90% of his sales numbers and had zero radio spins, but still made #45 on the top 100 for the second week. They took so much from him, but he was still in the top 50. Suga made it clear that BTS is now aware that it doesn't matter what BTS or ARMY do, the Western music industry will literally change their own rules to keep BTS and BTS members down. The music industry's accolades are completely worthless and now everyone knows it. I don't think that the Western music industry is going to like the fallout from this.

Their music has so much meaning to it. They're so young, but the words to some of the songs are like they've lived another life in another place and time. So much wisdom. They are a group of young men that have paid attention to things that are going on with society at large, whether in their own country or around the world news. Disclaimer: I'm a 37 year old Army in Texas who had never heard of K-pop before BTS. I listened to rock, alternative, and classical exclusively prior to BTS. I'm GP certified.
I remember back in 2018 when I joined the fandom, Twitter Armys had created State by state accounts that encouraged local Armys to call the radio stations in their state and request BTS. I cannot tell you how many times I was either hung up on, or told DJs had no say on whether a song was added or not so we needed to stop calling (WE as in there were MANY calls).
I finally gave up. And now I rarely listen to radio if I can help it. My local rock station is backed by Iheart radio and every hour for the last two years Ozzy Osbournes "Under the graveyard" has played. I literally cannot stand that song now. A true rock fan would NEVER choose under the graveyard over every other Ozzy hit every hour. So now im boycotting radio until they play BTS and some Mr. Crowley. I look at most music coming out of major labels as a manipulation from the industry- no sincerity at all. An unfortunate side effect of their shady tactics.

But it extends farther - Stray Kids, Ateez, Seventeen….real music for real people. Music with depth and meaning. Their ability fold two languages into their composing/singing/rapping is just incredibly impressive. The writing is on the wall. Keep blocking what the fans want, they will walk away. These orgs such as Billboard are on their way to being irrelevant.

and as soon as the song begin it count as a stream so they get so many fake streams that way. i have many acc and it happens on all of them so i know it´s planned that way. that´s why you should stick with playlists so a wrong song don´t play by accident. unless you want to listen to if.

For the independent artists the fans support is everything. To achieve good numbers for an independent artist is proof of true success because they need real fans to achieve those things without any major label backing them. I'm a Dimash Dear and I know Dimash most likely never will be an industry favourite, no matter how talented or successful he is he will not be pushed on radio or music platforms, the fans have to work hard for him all the way. So everything BTS and ARMY have achieved is impressive, their achievements are the results of hard work - not getting anything for free. It's hard to constantly fight against the established industry but in the end I think it's much more rewarding to have that kind of true success with engaged and loyal fans willing to fight for you than having success based on being an industry favourite.
So to all the fans of independent artists out there, keep up the good work - we know our love and support matters.

21:36, freezing the charts and making the numbers unavailable/uncounted, is what the Korean Hanteo sales chart did with Like Crazy. They didn't want to report that Jimin surpassed 1m sales in one day, so they under-reported his sales. And when ARMY informed them of their 'glitch', because they could see the correct numbers on the real-time counter...Hanteo shut that counter down and called it a technical problem. Jimin actually reached nearly 2m sales, but Hanteo cut 770k in their efforts to keep him from breaking the record. But they had to officially report that he broke the record anyway, because K-ARMYs wouldn't quit buying and pushed it across the 1m mark...again.
Then D-Day sold 1.2m its first day, so D-Day has the record of all-time highest sales in a day. At least until the group comes back in 2025...

So glad you watched this!! I had seen this already, and it backed up everything I have noticed since becoming ARMY in 2018. I can really get behind this exposé for its journalistic, unbiased portrayal of facts. Though the endgame is in defense of BTS, the toughest arguments would have a hard time standing against these facts. My first job was in radio 3 decades ago, and I was there for the uptick in industry overtake. No more local requests and popular demand -- it all became beholden to pre-recorded, pre-ordained playlists which invalidated all the local requests at ground level. It's only gotten worse since. If you think about a group from a very small Korean label selling out the biggest stadiums worldwide for multiple nights per city YEARS before they even had "Dynamite," and "Butter," you have to realize: something is amiss in a serious way! A conspiracy theory? Try mass global attendance at every show worldwide and extensive multinational fandom, compared to top-charting Western artists. Self-love and introspection have always been subversive and never served the moneymakers(well, until Big Hit made a big hit). You can't really argue with album sales and concert attendance, versus paid-for radio streams....keep seeking your joy, ARMY! ARMY+BTS= mutual nourishment is SUPREME! Better than a Scammy...

I’ve had artists I have liked to listen to and loved their stuff and maybe bought an album but my relationship with BTS is something I’ve never experienced before And it stemmed from feeling protective towards someone that was being bullied. And having been bullied so much in my life, I am willing to set alarms on my phone to get up and immediately start streaming or buying BTS products just to send a message to the industry and the more the industry does this More committed I become so by them acting this way in a sense. They are in advertently promoting BTS by treating them this way because I feel we live in a society today. We’re people are sick of being told what they like when it isn’t true. It’s a shame that in these days the industry is paying attention more, not even to their artists, but they recognized a type of music with lyrics that are horrible and do not give any message to the public (I have to say vulgar lyrics) I am an ARMY since 4 years ago, I am 55, and the first thing that I love from BTS is that they make MUSIC in all senses with beautiful and positive messages in all their songs … So we can say at the end that BTS doesn’t need the industry either a Grammy to show that they are amazing and make great music … they have us all the way until they will come back all together…. Aahhh .. in the meantime we have to mention that even making music as a solo artist they are wonderful …👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I really enjoy your reactions, I love how much you love the boys, as a group and individually.
Boracity is definitely a force to be reckoned with, I love that they have a receipt for everything, leaving no room for doubt or speculation. It is what it is.
About mass buying, it is Army’s money so we can spend it as we want, and if we wish to buy all the versions of the same album, How cares? It is our money.
I think it all comes down to power. BTS is able to sustain itself as a foreign act without falling into the illegal practices and the fact that the industry gets 0% of their success is the reason why they try to downplay and sabotage them. I always get really impressed with all the accolades BTS has, their success was forged through hard work, going against all odds, anger, and Army’s support. The music industry stopped caring about the music so long ago, and BTS is about the artistry in their craft, so they won't simply start buying and paying for awards and recognition to please some powerups that don't have any idea about music.
Anyway, love your channel, keep safe and I purple you 💜💜💜

Hey John ...Kudos to the creator!!!! Someone who created content that tells some of the REAL happenings in this "somewhat corrupt?", industry.....Over twenty years ago I worked as a traffic coordinator for a popular FM radio station. Part of my job was taking weekly calls from recording company reps with their "suggested" adds to weekly play.....of course, final decisions would be made by the Program Director, but I got to be a mission of info. I had the opportunity to experience first hand the levels of "promos" that they were willing to "gift", to promote their artists....and I was at a mediocre level of decision making. At least once a week I would receive "gifts" in the mail of various artists merch. And when they were on a major "push" for new artists, or releases...they then would do the regional in person visits. Dinners, drinks, concert tickets, and that was only at my level. Who knows the levels of compensation made for the PD, or company owners. When the movie "Dreamgirls" came out, it really portrayed the level of "palm greasing" that could make or break an artist...The decision of Prince, to become, "The Person formerly known as", Taylor Swift deciding to re-release her catalogue after her falling out with Scooter Braun (now a part of what co.🤔).....and these are just some of the highly publicized examples. I applause this person for bringing the REAL ugly truth to the forefront!!!!! Unfortunately, it won't change over nite, but the more the general consumer is aware of this ...we can only hope for some revisions to this questionable processes in the making of artists level of success.....As always John....thanks for sharing!!!!!💜

      Personally?
I think Taylor Swift wasn't quiet as angry as she pretended: she got a lot of reputation/clout for making big waves with that "fight" and the rerelease of her music is genius: easy number 1s and promo also for her new music.
I admire her for that. She has played the industry well and I think Scooter Braun has learned a lesson - mind you that was about money for him in the first place but he did loose rep because of it.
And I'm told she is very intelligent so I think it does work out. I wish her luck - but she is definetly playing the industry game and plays it well.

I'm an older Army. I grew up on Michael Jackson and Prince, but also listened to the great music my parents listened to (i.e., Commodores, earth wind & fire, etc). I've been listening to BTS for a long time because of their discography. The variety of their songs, the message just makes you want to hear more. Heck, you know the music is great when you'll listen to it in a different language. Before I started listening to BTS, I had stopped buying music because I could listen to sub-par music for free. Long since stopped watching the awards shows because they were tired and no one I thought worthy ever won. Like music from back in the day, I can listen and will listen to BTS over and over. Hell, I think I could singlehandedly keep Jimin's Face on the charts because it's in rotation every day over here. It's just a shame that the very things BTS sing about (love yourself, inclusiveness, bringing everybody up) are the very things the American/Korean market try to tear down because they do it on their own terms. THIS video is spitting facts, and I hope people are listening because we need a change. I'd rather be part of a fandom, the a puppet of the music industry spoon feeding me what im supposed to like. I hate we don't hear BTS on the radio. Billboards wants us to believe BTS isn't being played because Americans don't want to hear them, but that's just nuts because we're buying, streaming, and downloading the hell out of the music. ARMY , let's keep doing what we need to to keep the best music this decade from becoming a footnote in music history. Thanks for reacting to this awesome video.

His whole video has Army or/and his members throughout the whole video. He wanted to show his love for Army and of course, his members. That song is awesome! Our Sunshine, Hobi, his song he put out before he had to go in the military, was for Army. Our 7 normal boys from Korea, our BTS, put Army first. When they win Awards, they have won many! When the award is presented to our 7, the very first word from all of them is "ARMY!" There was never a group like BTS, ever. There will never be another group like them. Our 7 are kind, respectful, humble. Not only are they singers, dancers, they are all comedians! I think the words I hold on to the most is from our TaeTae. At one concert, our TaeTae got one his microphone . He called out to Army. " I have something to say! Army! You belong to us! You are ours!" TaeTae knows. And we will wait for them to come back to us. They work hard to make great music for Army. There is new Army everyday! Our Sweet Suga tells new Army never feel bad if you weren't with us from the beginning. The day you found us, is the day we debuted for you." Army tells new Army, " Never feel bad for being new. It would be cool & scary to see these Boracity essays show up on television, so that more of the "general public" gets to see what is going on. Perhaps start somewhere like PBS Frontline (in the US), which is a documentary-style show mainly watched by highly-critical thinkers, especially because it's on PBS. I've watched them as well, over the decades. Some of the general public may become intrigued, some will get confused & the rest would be apathetic, firstly because they may not know who BTS is. But it is the first group, the "intrigued", that may become more curious about BTS, as well as curious of the music industry (western) that has been fooling them for decades. Of course, Boracity would have to design her essays to be a bit more understandable to the public, as well as giving enough subject to extend to an hour show. Anyway, I would like John to continue more reactions of Boracity's videos, because her videos are very relevant in understanding why things are not always what they seem to be. Boracity is one case of someone "sticking it up to the man". And with receipts.

    You know what's funny?
SO MANY YEARS before getting to know BTS or caring about music charts I already had a sense of how the music industry is pushing music they want us to listen to.
Annoying songs sounding all the same, same lyrics, same words repeating every chorus, same beats, zero concepts, zero soul, zero content, playing over and over until
it's stuck on our heads, so they release next song and we forget forever about the previous hit in just one month!
For some reason, as I was felling that but not being able to explain it as a kid, I avoid listening these music -that were not even that good- but kept playing incessantly on radio and channels like mtv, so I tried to listen to independent artists from my country (brazil, and I found out so many talented artists)and old hit songs(i'm obsessed with the 80's music and i'm also the biggest pink floyd fan) that could really feed my soul and make their mark at some moment of my life.
Right now Im thankful for discovering about BTS but so angry about the sick capitalist music industry that sabotage them because they dont make a profit out of them. My boys are so talented and hard working, they deserve so much better. I dont know if they are aware of this corruption. I dont know if I want them to know about this. And then the music industry has the gall to blame it on the listeners. 'We can't make these long 3 minute songs, people don't have the attention span to listen to that!' 'We can't use high-school and college-level vocabulary, listeners don't want to have to go look words up! Use basic terms!' 'Listeners don't want complex ideas or imagery! Keep it as simple as possible!' 'Don't make a full chorus, just use the sentence- better yet, use a phrase. And use it for the hook. Just repeat it, repetition is what people want to hear, it's catchy!'
All that, and it would never dawn on them that the reason people don't buy this dumbed-down, predictable, repetitious music is because it. Is. BORING. And they cannot comprehend why ARMY's over here listening to 3-4:30 long songs translated from Korean, with out of this world wordplay, vivid imagery and layers of meaning. So they dismiss it as a fad, and retro music as nostalgia, and keep grinding out the boring gunk. And whining about how nobody appreciates 'popular' music anymore.
