I personally don't know how I feel about these accusations. Maybe I just can't accept it, since this music has been such a big part of my life, and will continue to be, but there's also something that I never trust about the Internet. I believe something this serious should be taken to court, not just discussed on Reddit and then coming to a conclusion.
The justice system makes it extremely hard to prosecute sexual assault, especially this long after the fact. A lot of victims also choose not to come forward because of the social fallout that could follow their lives. You should believe it, but that doesn't mean you can never listen to the songs again, I guess.
'Believe women' is a disgraceful position, I have known many women to tell many lies in my time, why should they be automatically believed about anything
Didn't like 7 different people and band mates all corroborate the accusations? That's not quite the same as discussing on reddit or "just believing women" I mean they were clearly a really good band with a loyal following, why would the band itself throw that away if there wasn't something to this? a former member of the band literally said that he had sexually assaulted his girlfriend when she was 15 before they began dating. there's literal text messages talking about it
I know I just wish it wouldn't have happened. Matt has a lot of musical talent and it sucks that they did what they did. I just wish people were better. Jank could've been a really good band. Now the music is ruined for me.
Ok, im trying so hard to find some bands that sound like jank did. Not lyrically, but sonically. And dont list all the counter intuitive bands, love them all, but they dont sound the same. Its not just twinkly emo, its more than that. I just want more shit with this energy, that doesnt make me mad to listen to lol
Literally just listen to turnstile or like old tbs and brand new. Bayside even has a wildly similar sound. As for newer bands I’d say algernon cAdwaller.

the tl;dr explanation: Ruben quit the band and said on FB not to talk to him about Jank, then Jank posted a status that said "all three of us are okay," then a little while later Matt posted a long FB post about how there were accusations of them being an abuser and went on to explain the situation that happened, the other party to that situation commented, "why did you post this here?", Matt took down the status. Band went quiet. All social media went down. Sam is doing a solo project, Ruben is still in Soul Glo, Matt has dropped off the face of the earth.
I think they said the name change on Instagram. It's private I think, and idk the username. Someone on reddit follows them and confirmed it a couple of times. They also said Lou posted an update around late February, detailing their life since JANK ended. They got hospitalized a couple of times for mental health problems/suicidal tendencies and are still going to therapy. Them writing new music is a fairly recent development, though. The same person who follows them said Lou is trying to keep it lowkey.
The whole story behind what happened makes me want to rip my hair out, these guys had such an amazing chemistry going
