  • Installing the same part on two, almost identical, e46 BMWs might sound a bit redundant. Until you realize the second of our two cars is an M3 chassis, which shows us new problems to overcome. The M3 had a larger brake booster pushing the antilock braking system to the other side of the engine bay. Today we show how to deal with this lack of space issues all M3 owners will run into, and show in more detail how to install this Maxpeedingrod vented catch can on the M54 engine.

    This has helped my car so much been running it for 5 months now. Only issue I have had is blow by coming in through the glove box because of where the catch can is mounted.

      @TenzaMotorsports  Před 7 měsíci

      Really? I haven’t had that issue. I think mine probably vents out the side with the m3 fender vents.

    Thanks for the indepth look into the install! Didn't see a link for that hose clamp you referred to using a lot of, in case you want to throw that in too, love that you provide links to the build-sheets for the cars, and parts in the video too of course.

      The description has been updated! Building cars isn’t always easy and people gate keep too much. I try to make it as easy as possible to build your own. Thanks for the comment!

    Just FYI, only early models upto 2002 have the ABS system in the drug bin. Late models have them by the brake booster.

    • @TenzaMotorsports
      @TenzaMotorsports  Před rokem

      Is this only on the m3? I’ve never seen it in the drug bin on a non m except the Xi cars.

      @@TenzaMotorsports Yes, the relocation only happened on the LCI M3’s alongside other improvements. Xi’s (Pre LCI & LCI) always need it in the drug bin to make room for the front axle and components.

    would you happen to know anything about the m52tu25 ccv, wondering if there are any other vacuum hoses on it? mine busted yesterday, not sure where, but it has such a bad vacuum leak that i could put my hand over the intake tube while engine was running and it wouldnt even suck my hand to it.. engine is running way ruff and wayyyyy rich.. im going to go buy the Dorman 02253 Vacuum Bypass Caps and hope deleting the ccv fixes the problem. im going to vent to atmosphere straight from out the valve cover for now just to get to work tonight, hopefully it wont cause any problems, but was worried about a hidden vacuum line somewhere on the ccv other than the main big 3

    I went VTA on my turbo m54 and it likes to burn oil at high vacuum (idle and decel). Didn't burn oil before turbo + before vta cc. Think its from lack of pulling vacuum for my oil rings? I read that can happen.

    • @TenzaMotorsports
      @TenzaMotorsports  Před rokem

      When you say burns oil? What symptoms were you getting? A catch can will consume oil because it isn’t going back into the dip stick return. But it should be pretty small amounts.

      I’ll keep an eye on that with my cars. I haven’t seen any signs of that. We just ran this car, that I worked on in this video, last night and there was no smoke. unfortunately don’t really have any advice for you. I’m sure the information is out there! I just am not familiar. I’m new to catch cans lol

    Okay nice but why not use the out and have it run in to the inlet manifold like factory also what about the hose that runs in to the sump
    My self id prefer it to run from rocker (inlet) then run to the factory spot on the inlet (using outlet ) then run it back in the the sump like factory but i have a turbo oil feed filter under my oil catch tank so I can reuse the oil but my tank don't have a filter like yours will make a video some time soon as will be adding on to my X5

    • @TenzaMotorsports
      @TenzaMotorsports  Před rokem

      Because this is a vented catch can, if you run anything to your intake it’s going to cause a massive vacuum leak. that intake line is after the mass airflow sensor so you’ll be pulling in unaccounted air.
