After buying super fakes for a test drive and then getting into exclusively buying authentics, I can tell you most people will never be able to tell the difference. Most don't even know the designer if it's a understated brand. Super fakes are not cheap either if you want quality imported leather, mirror copies, etc. they start in the 200 range and can go up into the 1k-2k range depending on what you're getting (bags, jewelry, shoes, etc). If you find a good artisan they can make you copies or even original designs.
Canal street and similar street markets have barely passable fakes, most are overpriced for the low/mid range quality they are. I didn't get into fakes to create an "image", I just love fashion and designer pieces. Besides, mid-range and fast fashion brands "dupe" and rip luxury designers off every single season, so I don't view them as anything special or original. Dupes also almost always have inferior quality to the designer version, in a way it's like buying a fake in itself. And TONS of people buy them for the sole reason of "it looks like the designer" and "i wanna look trendy for the gram"..."iNfLuEnCeR ViBeS".
Take Zara for example, how ethical do you really believe they are? Their factories? Their treatment of workers? The materials they use for their goods, is it all non-toxic? They churn out designer rip offs and charge exorbitant amounts of money for polyester at the end of the day. Shein anyone? đŤ˘đ¤Ž They're probably one of the worst with their proven toxic & cancerous goods.
As for the 'organized crime', canal street and other street markets probably fund those kinds of things but if you find a private artisan overseas they are just trying to feed their kids, not a gang lmao. There's a lot of scandal around authentic brands too fyi...the whole Balenciaga thing? Wtf was that? It's literally part of organized crime. đĄ

@@babycakes1402 Yes that's what I mentioned in the start of my comment. Superfakes can run from the 200-2k (even higher for exotic skins) range depending on the brand, quality, and design. They're extremely difficult to differentiate from authentics by the average person, usually only experts or special authenticating software can determine the authenticity and sometimes even those fail. What is upsetting is that some are taking advantage of this and flooding the preloved market with these superfakes, listing them as the real thing. đ
no excuse for supporting or condoning black market fakes & the lies that are told for fakes.

As someone who used to work in retail (specifically as a someone selling name brand bags), I realized you really donât need to spend more than $50-$100 on a high quality bag.
As a worker, some companies might give you over 50%-75% on a bag that can be priced up just because it has a brand name attached to it.
As long as that bad fits your needs and you love the look, that should be it!
Also supporting small businesses who make their own bags is also a plus, you donât need to drop money on things that have a name attached to it!

I've never understood the fake bags thing because you could literally just buy a lower priced bag. People complaining about Chanel prices can easily find similar style bags for less, but they don't because at the end of the day, what they want is to pass a Chanel bag as real. I can't afford a Chanel bag but have a small boxy bag that I bought from a maker on etsy. It was a $100 leather bag. No one needs a fake. To me, it's the equivalent of would you have the same energy if someone stole your videos, art, etc and justified it with, well you already make money so what's the harm?

I really wanted a Chanel classic flap bag, when I finally had enough to buy one, they did a price increase, the sales people were incredibly rude to me, and they didnât eve have one bag in stock in my area that I wanted. Also, I started watching some horror stories about how the Chanel bags just are made like they used to be, in a sense, Chanel is selling authentic counterfeit bags if you think about it! If they are using their own heritage and quality to sell a bag that is even cheaper! Itâs terrible! 10,000 is a ton of money for a bag! I still wanted a Chanel bag, but I wanted the quality of it without the fear. So, I bought an expensive fake. I didnât know then, about the criminal activity and possibility of child labor behind purchasing it at the time though.

I love functional leather goods like handbags, wallets, and eyeglass cases. They leather feels softer, warmer, than synthetic materials. There are plenty of companies that make quality leather products at a reasonable price. They donât fall apart like the fake designer goods do either.

agreed. i rather have one authentic bag than 10 replicas. if i want a chanel flap but with a limited budget, just get one from a reputable reseller like fashionphile, i don't need a brand new chanel flap bag every year/season. if i only want to spend $500 on a bag, i'd just get a polene or coach, the quality and craftmanship are there, and still authentic.

This is nothing compared to Shanghai, China. I saw some âsuper fakeâ Chanel and Gucci that took my breath away. They looked and felt like the real thing. These bags were never displaced out in the open, but tucked away in a secure place. The sales person would always asked if you wanted to see a higher quality designer *esluxscom* than the ones they displaced out in the open. If you said yes, the sales person stepped away and brought you a designer bag that looked authentic.

Before promoting counterfeit goods, I would suggest looking into the makers of counterfeit and the industries counterfeits fund (google that and tons of articles from reputable publications come up from as far back as 2000s on this). The option of fakes makes financial sense but from an ethical sense, âis it responsibleâ would be another question that should be asked.
The exact same is true for many of the luxury houses themselves.

From my experience, buying a famous brand is very troublesome. It costs a lot of money first and needs to be maintained later. Once it breaks, I have to wait 1 to 2 months to restore it. *condupcom* . I want one A more convenient way.

Love this take. I buy replica ready-to-wear much more often than bags. I find myself rotating out most pieces in my closet pretty often, but with bags, belts, watches, and jewelry there are some Iâve had for years that I still carry or wear, so Iâm more than happy to buy 1-2 authentic bags/accessories per year.

This is great advice. I buy 90% of my bags, shoes and clothes secondhand, the rest of my clothes i sew myself. I don't gravitate to fake designer items but i am sometimes tempted when it's a super quirky design you've got no chance of ever finding secondhand. My bf recently got me an LV loop flower print blue monogram bag replica in the far east. I still love my LV reverse monogram *preluxs* clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.
I'm not a fancy bag girl--not having the kind of lifestyle that requires a designer handbag, I buy purses at Goodwill or even make my own--so you would think none of this advice applies to me. But it absolutely does. The general advice to follow here is to focus on spending your money based on your values. If you really want a high-end designer bag, save up and get one. If you want the look without the expense, get a knockoff. Or if you'd rather save that money and go to Disneyland, don't buy a fancy bag. Spend your money based on YOUR values, not on what other people think you should be spending your money on, and cut back in areas where the expenses aren't necessary or desired.

You know my grandmother gave me a fake *esluxscom* preluxscom bag because she knew I like pretty things and she thought it was pretty too. I was 22 years old at that time. I really don't care. I bought a replica of a Chanel brooch at the *hotdups* to compare materials etc. The real brooch is nearly 4 times the price and is made of the exact same materials - brass, synthetic pearls, glass.
Bags that cost 1000s of dollars and carrying specific names on them, are status symbols, nothing else. Thank God I don't have status so I don't feel the need to symbolize it. I do pity a grown person who believes that spending their money that way adds to their worth as a human being. Of course some just like having stuff.

Looking the part. Totally. I think anyone critiquing on either side is not showing enough empathy. I am an adjunct professor who is looking for other ways to create work for myself in the world. I was raised on Ross and Target. Lately, I've been collecting some better quality Coach and Rebecca Minkoff. I know it's not luxe, but it's a way to start caring for my belongings and building my wardrobe. I feel like it's important to live within one's means and I'm proud of the honest work I do as a college instructor. Honestly, I don't judge either way. The one thing I think everyone should probably do though is care really well for what they have. whether it's a leather conditioner or a sweater pill remover. A store clerk inspected my bag and immediately told me that the bag was of excellent quality. She pulled a current bag out of inventory and compared the tags and I saw ZERO differences.

Iâm a member of the Rep Ladies Reddit page but have not ever purchased one. Theres a big difference between designer inspired and a replica. Replicas use branded materials to counterfeit the original brand or design. Because itâs illegal, thereâs more risk. Risk of product being seized by customs, risk of poor quality or not getting what was pictured or promised since these purchases are not regulated by virtue of them being an illegal transaction. Itâs also believed that some counterfeiters are associated with larger criminal organizations that use counterfeiting as a means of funding their other more nefarious businesses- drug or weapons trading) Sounds far fetched to some but definitely a real thing and not worth the risk in my opinion.

I think this is so interesting as a handbag fanatic and love buying real. I just traveled to Paris and I couldnât help but adore all the women AND menâs fashion in the streets. So much designer Birkins, Kelleyâs, Chanel, YSL, Loewe. It was amazing to watch. Then I remembered how I read an article about some rich lady in NY has a fake Birkin collection but they assume itâs real because sheâs rich. It got me thinking how many people have âexpensive handbagâ on their arm and itâs fake. OR they literally wore all their designer items in that one outfit and thatâs the extent of their collection. What about those websites where you can rent designer bags?! Maybe some also paid the premium to get the Birkin pre-loved vs playing the Hermes game. By the time you spend bag quota you probably could have paid less on pre-owned market. Also designers go on sale!!! I get emails all the time from NM, Nordstrom and brands like Burberry all the time that they are having private sales. I also buy items pre-loved. Moral of the story is donât just assume that $6,000 bag is what that person paid for it, it could be fake, pre-loved or on sale. Just because you have money to buy things doesnât mean they donât love a discount or they would use their money to buy these things ! Iâve also seen women in a Chanel group on fb sell their bags to gather funds for a different bag.
It all comes down to your mindset in buying luxury goods. I buy designer handbags and jewelry because I love the design and I can easily afford them. I don't buy designer bags every year or season, only when I come across one that I really like and can see myself using it all the time. I couldn't care less if strangers think my bag is real or fake.
I went to the dentist with my fake LV Damier Azure Neverfull from *hotdups* and she gushed how much she liked it and said she had one too. I said "mine's a fake". And she said "So is mine."

Here's the reality: if you're rich and famous, your bag is seen as a sign of success. If you're just an ordinary worker working a 9-to-5 job, your real bag is likely to be constantly discussed by others. Therefore, I currently buy bags on *condup* and no longer care about other peopleâs opinions.

i dont care if it is a big name brand or not but i refuse to spend more than 20-30 dollars on a plastic bag.... if i am spending a lot of money it better be a good quality back pack like eastpak that has 30 years guarantee or a real leather fancy tote/handbag that can last for years while actually using it... not these nonsense polyester/pleather bag that will peel in 6 months with extensive use but cost 3000 dollars with some dumb logo on it
I believe in buying the real thing. If someone is really going to rebel against snob culture, then carry a good quality bag with its own non inflated label. Faking it is just tacky and supports the brand name snob culture. Women with 7 figure incomes can afford to make choices like supporting emerging artisans who will make a bespoke piece just for the individual customer.

Itâs so wrong to buy fakes. If you donât want the big expensive bags, you can get something cheaper elsewhere.
And if you get a fake to try and blend in, thatâs even worse : either accept the rule and get those expensive bags to fit in, or refuse to fit in and get the bag you want.

Hi ! Was there a time when LV Mono Vernis Perle Read PM Monogram.does not have a date code? My aunt and I were trying to authenticate an old Vernis white bag. The bag size, the monogram design is on point. even the stitches ,the color of the thread, the color of the inner lining. the lock,the hardware,the stamp,the zipper even the LV near the handle does not overlap.The only thing we noticed is that there was no date code. Accdg to my aunt that bag was given t her by her aunt in 2009 .But that *esluxs* was gifted to her aunt in 1998. There is only a slight discoloration but it looks fantastic.
In my opinion, you cannot say youâre fighting against the âYou canât sit with usâ mentality of designer brands if youâre buying the fakes, you just canât afford the authentic one.
If you donât want to buy the authentic one, thatâs fine. Buy the dupe or the fake if you want to, but donât justify it by talking about fighting against designer brands.

I have a authentic collection of LV, Gucci, Prada ( Balenciaga which is really collecting dust atm đ) , Fendi , a little Chanel and others ⌠mostly collector and classic bags Iâve collected for years !!! For the past 2 years I have also added the Prada reedition , a bumbag ( R) , and a couple of other trendy pieces that I really didnât want to add but rather just wear once or twice ⌠they are pretty much identical to the authentic ,which I have plenty to compare to and I can just throw them away when theyâre no longer of use .
The reality is that large designer brands such as Gucci, Hermes, LV, etc. are becoming outdated as consumer demand has shifted from wanting to appear "wealthy" to wanting to show their "intelligence". 10 years ago if you bought a *esluxscom* you were "cheap" and "fake", now you're "smart" and "cost-conscious" because customers have realised their's no need to pay 10x more for the same quality bag.

Perception is everything, I remember saving up for my first LV and some coworkers automatically thought it was fake because I was a young black girl. At that point I really stopped caring what people's opinions were, people will always have their opinions based on how you look. After this I shopped in *esluxscom* . If you drive a Bentley and get out of the car with a fake Hermès, no one will question you.

if you're only saving 10-15% from the retail price, you might as well get the authentic ones because they come with lifetime warranty, you can literally pass it down for generations since these brands will continue to service your jewelry pieces as long as they're authentic.
