  • Welcome to the Reclaimed Heirloom's tutorial on how to make faux wood planks with Annie Sloan chalk paint! I will show you how to make a faux wood grain finish in a plank wood pattern with chalk paint to this repurposed furniture piano bench into a coffee table. This calk paint faux wood technique can be used to make faux barnwood finish or any type of faux wood finish you are trying to achieve to your restored furniture piece.

    Materials used for this project:
•Painters Tape (any width will do to create wood plank segments)
•Chip Brush (we used a 3-inch brush) to create a light wood grain effect
•Small Artist brush to create a dark grain effect
•2 regular paint brushes (we used 2-inch brushes but any size will do) for dry blending
•To create wood planks we used Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint Honfleur and Graphite. (You could use Annie Sloan’s Coco if you want a darker wood colour if you like)
•2 cups for the Honfleur and Graphite

Hi Nikki! It’s so nice to hear that!!! I wish I have Stephen’s Spielberg film studio helping me but I don’t and sometimes we get comments about editing, we are trying to improve on every video. We are a film production team of 2 (myself and hubby)! Greatly appreciate your comments and understanding what it take to make these pieces and tutorial videos! 💕🙏🎨

The Reclaimed Heirloom just stick to it! I remember this time last year starting my channel and it was very slow and discouraging. Consistency is the key. You’ll learn what works and get better at editing with every video as your community grows!

The Reclaimed Heirloom tbh they all do the same things it’s just about finding a program that you like. They all have different interfaces but essentially do the same things!

      Hi Jezei
The base colour I used was light but it is called Chateau Grey which is a light grey green tone then continued with the browns and black for the faux wood finish. I have a more recent video I did the same technique a few weeks ago available on my playlist
