I met Mr Koopman when he came for an organ recital at the Auckland Town Hall in New Zealand in the 80’s!! I was a teenager and my mother brought my sisters and I to listen to him play. We were sitting eating our lunch prior to the concert beginning near the Town Hall when my mother recognised him as he walked by, which was very fortunate as Mr Koopman thought the concert was the next day!! He than realised that tha lady who was supposed to pull out all the stops and turn the page’s wasn’t available - so he asked me to do it, as I could read music - an enjoyable memory!
Great story. And Koopman is still performing.
Wow just WOW !!!
@The plantation boys To be honest, it wasn't really luck 🙂As I soon discovered that Mr Koopman and my parents were well acquainted, looking back I think that he was suffering from a little jet lag. However, it was most fortunate that when my mother called out to him, he was honestly under the mistaken assumption that the concert was the following day!! It certainly turned out to be a very good thing that he saw us sitting in the park, because if he hadn't turned up for his own concert, I imagine there would have been a lot of disappointed people.
It was rather nice that a few days later that he came for dinner at our home, especially since my sisters and I had been rather small the last time he'd seen us when we were still living in the Netherlands.
Plus, us kids got to perform for him!! Which was a lot of fun, as my youngest sister played the cello, my middle sister played the flute, and I sang.
It is one of my favourite memories as a young teenager for sure!!
I was captivated as soon as I heard the pedal line drop.
Bach a genius, Schnitger a genius organbuilder, Koopman a genius organplayer, an orgasm for the mind!!
Vivaldi a genius
@@sararisaliti1626 thanks from don Antonio....
i come back to this recording atleast 6 times a week maybe more, i just really like the articulation and the registration and my subwoofer likes it too
not my favourite bach organ piece but i have been coming back to this recording because the pedal is insane
I've listened to several BWV-594s and no one plays it as perfect as this one.
Bach totally fell for the expression of italian style. For an eminence like Bach to actually transcript another musician's work into his favourite instrument...you can tell he totally fell for Vivaldi's art. Thank God for these two gentlemen. Brillant interpretation. The leitmotif represents fireworks. Because it is inspired by the lifestyles of oriental rulers of the era.
ARE YOU A MUSICIAN
HOW TO LISTEN TO THIS WORK, IS THERE A STORY OF SUCH ABOUT WHAT IT OR SIMPLY EMOTIONS AND EVERYONE DEMANDS THAT IT IS LISTENED TO BE HEARD OR
I think Koopman's choice to use a loud reedy solo voice in the Adagio is a stroke of genius. The score does say 'forte' anyway.
One of the best BWV 594s ...ever
Please be aware that it is known that Bach has been writing menuets in the style of Couperin. If his publications (and possible alsi the roprts of Telemann coming back from Versailles aee being seen as very good by J.S.E.Bach just like Corelli's and Vivaldi's violin compositions than it cannot be acceptable that you use the name of the most famous organist of France AKA "Le Grand Couperin", when complimenting some incredible clutz who has lot of video's where you can hear the keys strike the board underneath the key. Anybody with a brain can understand that you should not be hearing rattles! Why so angry it are the Mattheus passions of a.o. this director who caused a lot of unecessary work for my boss
@@tummiehond9432 Whoa!!! Nitpicking and word salad much?? Just chill and enjoy the music without sweating the tiny details. I am LOVING this video: great organist, good sound quality, and a delightful but little-played work by Bach.... who could ask for more???
@@tummiehond9432 Agreed that Ton rather 'dive bombs' the keys; however, HOWEVER; there is no organist on the planet (Piet Kee was the only other) who can bring Bach and Buxtehude to life like this. I'm more than happy to hear keyboard noises when the sound from the pipes is such as this. As for FC, his 'L'art de toucher' was purely for the plucked keyboards, not the organ! PS As for unnecessary 'noises off', in Brüggen's 'b-minor', during tutti passages with full chorus, some sound engineer still managed to make the oboes' keywork audible. In my view that took some doing ;-)
Wow I've been listening to Bach for 30 years and this is the first time I've heard this piece. Love it! Time to open the windows and turn my system up and let my street hear some good music!
It is a great piece transcribed by Bach from Vivaldi's RV 208

I'm ok with you, sir.
I'm with you, my brother in the gospel of Bach
Powerful yet completely
transparant.
Timing is fantastic and uplifting.
What a JOY !
Koopman is great !!
This is the best bach interpretation I've ever heard.
100 % correct
This is one of the best recordings I have heard of the wonderful Groningen organ. Mr Koopman's imaginative registration brings out a magnificent pallet of tone colour..
I agree
Of course , with the signature of Tom Koopman! … he is also a brillant Director orchestra, a great artist when playing Bach Cantates. Thanks for sharing
Love Bach's organ concerto transcriptions and this is one of the best interpretations I have heard.
The energy in this performance is blistering. The sheer clarity of the registration choices is a joy. Marvellous piece.
An honour for Vivaldi.
What an honour!! ;-)
myempathy .. yess sir , slowly but steadily WE LEARN there is VIVALDI at the very base of BACH GLORY :D :D
Top lebendig! Danke, danke, Mr Koopman!!!
Ach, und die Schnitger-Orgel...göttlich.
When I heard this the first time I thought what some one stuck something as good as Bach. NO I had never herad it before and I LOVE IT

Vivaldi + Bach = Estasi divina.
Bach never ceases to amaze me.
Magnificent! I almost can hear a choir of angels singing in the background when I listen to the first movement.
Wunderschönes Stück und absolut genial gespielt....Klasse...
Is halt Koopman - ein Weltklasseorganist par excellence!
Glorious! Magnificent organ transcription! Bach and Vivaldi, both made heavenly music!!!!!
,gracias.
Beautiful!!!
This is EPIC!!!!! If not for CZcams and Mr. Riccardo, i probably wouldn't have heard this recording for my entire life. LOVING IT!!!
Perfectempo! Wonderful energy.
Powerful and amazing allegro finale!!! It makes the public to jump in their sits
Koopman = Just perfect¡
Totally AMAZING!!!
Amazing! Such beauty of Music!
Absolutely perfect registration for the work, and for the acoustics of the building. Thanks from San Francisco!
Thanks Riccardo,
Very relaxing to listen to Ton's masterful playing!
Estupendo!!!!!!
Es geht einfach so ab :D,
perfekt interpretiert
this is just MAGNIFICENT! out of this world!
Bellissimo. x
Beautiful music!! I'm in tears! Completely music-drunk...
Yup.
I know exactly how you feel!
I'm so really really like it! So great and amazing!
Grandioso.
El sonido es maravilloso, gracias.
Beautifully played by Ton Koopman with also a nice choice in the stops of this organ.
this concerto is a dream
Stunning galloping accelerando as the work progresses. Mr Koopman, you have "lift-off" in the last section. You're flying high. But most enjoyable.
FABULEUX ! ! !
Fint...........
wath a great performance
Un pur délice
Love it music 🎶❤❤❤❤
I love it
Tolle Aufnahme!
Geniale Musik.
NÃO EXISTE COMPOSITOR IGUAL JOHAN SEBASTIAN BACH !! ÚNICO !!
Non dimenticare Vivaldi......
Yooooo that echo effect 13:48
It sounds amazing
Fantastisch!!!
Wow!
Grandioso ;)
Grandioos!
Bardzo ładne wykonanie, czysty dźwięk. Muzyka J.S. Bacha jest piękna. Made in Poland.
A marvellous interpretation
And on marvellous sounding organ.
gran brio!
I looked long and hard for a similar recording of Bachs 594 and could not find any one that even came close to this one. This specific recording I could not find on Deezer or Spotify. If anyone knows a better (impossible) or similar recording of this piece please let me know.
Die veste Version auf der ganzen Welt!
Such joy isn't possible unless you're on singing term with angels
wow🎹
Those are some legit intimidating pipes! I know it's blasphemy but I'd love to tickle those keys for even just a minute! I'd lose myself in acoustics and history and die a happy man!
wow!!! :D
cool !
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!
Coming back to this recording again, and once again struck by how this compares with Enrico Onofri's approach.
Inebriante !
WOW! Fabulous! Listening to this I feel like I am in the presence of God.
no, you are in the presence of two human geniuses: Vivaldi & Bach.
Bach was a christian and he did dedicate his pieces to the glory of God,you can absolutely tell there is something about his music that sings praises to the almighty and everlasting God
+ Jhr. Humphrey; Amazing
4 grootheden: Vivaldi,Bach, Koopman, Schnitger: indrukwekkend!!
Hij is goed hé ?
va ascoltata più spesso Ti rigenera ...
Normally, the original music is the best, and other versions for different instruments are not that great. But here we have the opposite situation: the original piece RV 208 by Vivaldi for strings sucks, and this organ version by Bach is absolutely marvelous!
+Petik Kozak I completely agree but on the other hand it's hard to imagine any piece of music not being improved by Bach's intervention!
+Petik Kozak Like David Griffiths said, Bach improves an original piece. So the fact that RV 208 sounds much better under his able hands does not surprise me one bit. Now I'm curious to hear RV 208 once I'm done with yet another wonderful masterpiece by Bach I have not experienced (this keeps happening on a regular basis, by the by, and I couldn't be happier).
Petik Kozak; it’s strange. “RV 208 ... sucks”? Bizarre. Take away what Vivaldi had written & there is no composition by Bach. And if RV 208 sucks, then why did Bach transcribe it (along with 10 other Vivaldi works)? Bach was a genius. He picked out good music to transcribe.
@bb1111116 I totaly agree... It has to be very very hard to say "It sucks" about something written by such master like Vivaldi admired by another master Bach. They definitelly were respectful of each other.
15:40 headbang all the way
🤘🏾
THIS ! 3:40
Goed en in een oprecht tempo
non plus ultra, soli DEO Gloria!!!
The cathedral piers are alive and they have eyes. They also have ears. If they get bored with the music, they will leave. The cathedral will fall. Only good Bach on the organ will keep them in place.
Bach&Vivaldi+Organ !
Barock Feast...
at 12:15 That's my favourite part ! ! !
Beautiful organ and beautiful organ case. What's the reason for the boring glass eyed piers? why not make the style of the piers agree with the rest of the building?
He really is the Ton Loc of the Baroc
