      Also usefull is the defrost mode for the front window, after two XC 60’s with that option, now i have an XC 40 in comand and it was the first option i’ve indicated, so usefull in the morning with a fronsen window. I am so interested to all the new features, just i still have to weath 4 long months (5 bin allready passed), thank for those helpfull tips

    The XC40 Plugin Hybrid can also preheat when there is enough battery charge. It doesn't have to be plugged in the whole time (it can be, but hasn't to be :). Really nice feature when it is frosty or hot outside.

      Hey Stefan! Thanks for the tip! Perhaps it’s something local then because all I can find is that it needs to be plugged in 🤔 Got this from the manuals: “Preconditioning is only available when the car is connected to an electrical socket. A charging station that is not constantly active, due to a timer, may result in pre-conditioning failure.
      If the car is not connected to an electrical socket, it is still possible to cool the passenger compartment briefly in a warm climate by starting preconditioning directly”.
      So, I’m confused 😂👍🏻

      @@thom-lov I drive an XC40 Plug-in Hybrid myself since 3 weeks and can confirm that it is also possible without having the car plugged in (as long as enough electricity is left in the battery). 😀✌🏻

      Same here! Plug-in hybrid, I can pre-heat with *0% battery charge*, as long as I am not low on fuel (that is, before the low fuel warning turns on). I live in Greece.

    Again awesome video! I currently have an XC40 with auxiliary heater and heated windshield. I removed the navi from specs to get the heater instead. Unfortunate i was left with a 5in display instead of 7in without anybody telling me. I love the XC40, and it would be my next car if it was not too excited with AWD. To get AWD i had to spec out the engine for 12k €. With all other extras i was only about 10k below a similar spec XC60. So i went for thisone now. I drive 2h a day so Volvos are just the best out there! Thanks for sharing!

    My XC40 T4 PH recharge runs pre-conditioning without being plugged in. Works very well but it will drain appr. 20% of you battery depending on outside temperature. This will take 8-10 km from your electric driving range.

    Please can you show how to use the OffRoad settings whilst driving on snow? Do i need to switch to manual gear to have a better control of the vehicle and stop constant breaking? thank you

    The recharge model does not need to be plugged in in order to use the heater. Although it is good to hsve it plugged in if you are trying to maximize the range.

      Thanks Jani, I think I mean the PHEV recharge models, are you talking about that one or our EV version? 😊

    Here's a tip. Don't do a map update unless you want your car unable to start for three hours while it installs.

    Hi Thom. I´ll be buying an xc 40 this year, more than likely second hand 2021 with few Km´s, the main thing i´ll be looking to get is a pre heater and maybe the sun roof, are there any extras that you hav´nt got but would like to of had.

    • @thom-lov
      @thom-lov  Před 2 lety +3

      Hey Darren, thats awesome. XC40s are so good! Def make sure to get the pre heater, and if possible the sun roof and Harman Kardon system which I enjoy a lot. Mine is almost fully specced but next time I would like to get the adaptive lights which (with the fog lights that activate on low speed turns) would help me a bit better here in NL spotting cyclist and pedestrians in traffic at night or early mornings.. Typical Dutch problem, haha!

      In the US they recommend 91 or higher octane. From experience with other Volvos I will use that all the time.

    Lot of babbling but no demo to set things. Bit of a bummer. Next time, actually show how to config it in the system. Please
