- This is a very old recording which was available on youtube in 4 parts separately. This is a recording of a single concert in 1950s at Varanasi in India of the two legendary duet of brothers Ustad Salamat Ali & Ustad Nazakat Ali. Raag - Adana . Tabla - Pt Anokhelal (most probably). Indian Classical Vocal.

Kan kundla.....the drut part of khayal in adana is description of Ma Kalis ornaments of ears.....having with chopped heads of demons....wao .... ustads master kind of rendition truly Universal and above all religious boundaries.
Really touched and became motionless listening to kaan kundala. Such powerful and touching adana with devotion. Long live ustads in the minds of listeners. Thanks for uploading.

Who bothers for these biased supporters who should throng in the cricket field instead of ruining Hindustani classical.
Either you like BGAK or SAK, both excelling in Adana drut, the matter is finished.
None of us are technically competent as Bhatkhande or even Rajan Parrikar to dissect the performances.
And music is based on perception, not facts,

The drut bandish is Patiala Gharana bandish originally sung by Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali khan.
r8rdarklord Yes Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan Saab has sung the same bandish, "Gaan Kundala Awaat Hai Albela ". That is great too. Both these renditions of the same bandish are different, unique and great in their own ways. Unfortunately I have not heard any present generation artist both in India and Pakistan be able to sing this bandish.
Abhishek - The real tough bandish to sing is "Rama chadho...". Ajoy Chakraborty tried to sing it but couldn't do it well. For the drut he sang the canonical "Taan Kaptan.." & "Jaisi kariye waisi bhariye...", but gave up on the latter claiming that he is not capable enough to sing it. BTW, Kumar Gandharva though not alive sang "Kaan Kundala...", beautifully. That rendition matches Ustad BGAK's version.

Not even close..doing vocal gymnastics is not the way to sing khayals. Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan's version, followed by Pandit Kumar Gandharva rendition is the way to do it. The swars need to be visible in taans & the bhav needs to come out. This is a bhakti ras bandish & that needs to come out.

Yes. I think another Benaras concert in which "gagari varana nahi dete Shyam, aiso dhit langarwa. Zith zaun uth aage dole" was there. Greatly sung old composition. Can't find it. Would love to hear and record. If you have it please help: talukdar48@gmail.com

Salamat Ali khan aaj kal ke 100 Rashid khaan ko Kacha Kha jaatey!!! I swear, he was just matchless. Rashid khan aur yeh sab ke sab bachey hain SALAMAT sahab ke.....waise mujeh rashid khan bhi achey lagtey hain par jab Salamat saab ko koi sun leh touh phir sabhi pheeekay lagtay hain. Yehi sach hai.
If I tell Pt Bhaskarrao Bakhle would have boiled 1000 Salamats, does it mean anything but the pure tomfoolery of comparing great maestros of different era ? And truth does not reside in hoarse oracles.

In my view, the taans do not have the musical element to it. It did not move me at all. And in the urge of doing so much the raag was left behind somewhere. No offense to the followers!
