Note: The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Madden 24 do not have the same features.
"Madden NFL 24 makes several much-needed improvements to the on-field experience thanks to fantastic additions to animations and AI, but it still suffers from the same problems it always has once you get off the field: everything here is just done better in every other sports sim, even the other ones made by EA, and this year’s tweaks just aren’t enough to make up for the series’ continued feeling of sameness and lack of progress. To continue the metaphor, Madden feels like a decent but not great football team: content to coast. If it were in the right division I could see it sneaking into the playoffs, or overperforming in a good year. But it’s the kind of team that typically gets eliminated in the first round. The on-field game might be the best it’s ever been, but there are too many off-field issues here to ignore, and with each passing year it feels more and more like they’ll never be fixed. Perpetually, Madden seems like it could be a contender with time and the right changes, but right now it feels like an also-ran. And you don’t win the Super Bowl like that." - Hry
The worst thing to happen to Madden was when they signed that NFL exclusive deal in 2004 or 2005, thereby getting rid of their biggest competitor, the NFL 2K series. Without any competition, they have not needed to push the bar. Therefore, mediocrity set in. Madden did this to themselves, and now we have to deal with their crappy games.

If EA truly meant that this is a make or break year, and that people's jobs will be on the line, then people are going to get fired.

4 out of 10 is still to high. These clowns making madden refuse to actually fix the issues plaguing this game for over a decade and just keep stacking minuscule things on top of an incredibly unstable product. Its embarassing, its a scam, and its just flat out a bad product

Madden needs a new engine based on physics and not animation. Competition wouldn't hurt either, but until they give up on the frostbite engine nothing will change
They can still do other things with frostbite its not gameplay now its everything outside of it which makes it feel like the same madden the lack of in game presentation and features are key and madden dont have it
EA absolutely refuses to let go of frostbite. FIFA players have been dealing with it since 2016.
Frostbite is not the issue. Nearly every problem in the game today has been there for generations. I've shown video evidence of the same problems dating back to Madden 06 XBOX 360.

Ignite was not perfect , but It was simple and works better. Just play Madden 17 to feel It.
If only they keep Ignite for sports and Frost for FPS It will be much better by now.

PS: This is what happens when there’s not healthy competition in the gaming industry. A lackluster cash grabbing effort. And why would EA switch it up? You have no choice if you’re an NFL fan. It’s Madden or nothing. The loss of the NFL2K series is still felt to this day…
Yes but thankfully there are still mods being made to those 2k games, but it really sad that I'd rather play a modded game from 2004 than this.

The indie gaming scene needs to step in and make football games that actually innovate and finally push the sports genre forward. The reason why Madden has been terrible every year is because it literally has no competition and with no competition means that they have NO motivation to actually take the act of innovating their own franchise more seriously.
There’s this game called Legend Bowl made by indie developer who did the work all by himself. The game is so much fun and it only priced at $25! He has a CZcams channel breaking down gameplay and mechanics. The developer is also thinking of making a college video game based off of Legend Bowl. You should check it out!
The worst thing that happen to the game play of madden was singing an exclusive deal with the NFL. They were at their best when they had to compete agains Blitz and 2k it was better.

Stopped playing Madden games over a decade ago but sometimes I'm curious with how the series is progressing. So nice to see they still have many of the same problems and janky animations that existed 10-15 years ago.

Specifically run blocking not pass. The run blocking is 100% noticeably superior however the pass blocking is exactly the same

6 for MADDEN seems fair. It’s significantly better than the past couple years. For a game in general it should be 2. I like how he was honest and actually gave criticism from an actual football fan perspective, unlike what IGN usually does for madden
The game is pretty bad, but 2 is way too harsh. The game should have between a 4 to 6.

Input lag happens crazy in Madden 23
Yes the menu lag is terrible. Editing rosters takes forever. The menus have been laggy for a few years, but this year it's way worse. Remember back in the PS2 days when menus just worked instantly with zero lag? Why can't we go back to that?
