I am going to be honest. I was upset when the franchise dropped Johnny but Mads Mikkelsen did a wonderful job as Grindelwald. The character moments he created really makes you want to root for the guy even if he wants to suppress muggles. I love him! I can't wait for movie four.
I'll be honest, I never thought Johnny deserved it, but I wasn't sad about the replacement because I never saw him as Grindelwald. He's a terrific actor, but Mads was always much more what the character sounded like in the books and his acting choices proved it beautifully, so I was happy since the beginning with him stepping in.
But, again, it's not a Depp bashing, I just never agreed with the casting.
@@9401maru While Johnny gave the surprise factor for the character. I feel like Mads gave the character depth. In Mads' version, he isn't evil for the sake of being evil. His reasoning although delusional and horrid gives the audience something to contemplate and really amplifies his feelings of loss when faced with Dumbledore's decision not to stand by his side.
After watching the movie, it kind of feels like Johnny Grindelwald defined the character's actual and personal characteristics, like his arrogance, his powers, and his ambitions. But Mads Grindelwald exists solely for Dumbledore himself, which makes the GGAD pair more charismatic than ever. I won't say which is better because there really is no better. They both did a wonderful job. They just exist at the right time and in the right movie.
@@euphemiac5579 This is what I feel is so beautiful about Mads' Grindelwald. He built his life and mission around what they both said. In part, Gellert thinks it's an expression of his love to do his part in making their dreams a reality. Because that's what he is, a visionary. But when Albus turns his back on him, he views it as a rejection of him. That's why he left and carried on. Unhealthy ENTJs do this so well it was painful to see it.

3:03 The pure heartbreak on his face... I think Grindelwald maybe hoped in the back of his mind that Dumbledore will change his mind eventually and join him after all. That's the moment when he realises that he just lost the only person who still cared about him. And while he didin't underestimate Dumbledore in terms of magical ability, he probably underestimated him as a person. He thought that Dumbledore was too soft hearted and in love to turn his back on him.
That was the most painful loss for Grindelwald.
2:57 it's like Grindelwald steps forward to maybe even kiss Dumbledore. But Dumbledore afraid from the tension, afraid of not being able to resist, steps back and turns around, rather fast because he knows deep down he loves him so much he wouldnt be able to resist, I think you can also see this feeling portrayed in his eyes pretty well . and then... desperate because of Dumbledore leaving - because of seeing their last opportunity going by... he cries "who will love you now dumbledore" finally the reasurement, the true feeling he hasn't been able to tell him openly at the cafe. His desperation in his face comes with the fear of it being too late, now, that Dumbledore has turned his back. And indeed it's too late for them...
So truuuuue he steps forward and Dumbledore steps baaaack. Ughhhh Albus just hug or something. Gellert looked so desperate when Albus walked away and seeing the cracking troth
I love how we can see part of Dumbledore’s life, everyone was always so quick to judge him, but even though he was far from perfect, he was first and foremost human
1:35 the way he narrows his eyes is very expressive.
They are good actors of course. I hope some day and soon exist a Harry Potter series, maybe with their childrens.
I was afraid about the actor's change but Mads Mikkelsen did soooooo damn well in the role wow.

I don't know how Johnny Depp (who I love) could come back to this role. I can't imagine Jude saying love you to Johnny's Grindledore now that I've seen Mads.
It's such a tragic love story because they both love each other even though they are on different sides, good and evil, yet they'll never be able to be together like in the movie even though they fought each other Gellert still told Dumbledore that he wasn't his enemy, never nor now.
Thank you so much for this. I love the song in the background, think it’s one of the best soundtracks for Grindeldore. Their love story is so compelling but equally heartbreaking and full of tragedy.
It broke my heart in the end when they held their hands over each other’s hearts; their expressions; their blood pact broke; Grindelwald’s words to Albus: *Who will LOVE you now, Dumbledore?*
It shows that despite everything, now that there’s nothing stopping them from waging war against one another, Gellert’s love for Albus hasn’t gone away, he still loves him and he won’t love anyone ever again like he loves him and hopes he won’t either, and Albus won’t - he walked away from Gellert in the end but only because he was trying to stay strong and not have to face his hearts true feelings that even though the love of his life tried to kill his family and he chose his family and his love for them over his true love, he still loves Gellert and won’t love anyone like him.
That is the true heartbreak and tragedy of the Grindeldore love story 💔😢

i’ve been watching grindeldore edits for a while now and i have to say this is the most poetic, cinematic, storyline driven ever. and ngl i had to sit down, watched this properly, and got absorbed into this masterpiece. my heart broke for them, and for your edit, in the end of it i could feel my eyes water… love this so much. the song choice is perfect, it orchestrated their tragic love story really well, and the build up in the end just-chef’s kiss! thank you, thank you, thank you for making this and share it with us!!

Disney really did Johnny Depp dirty but I gotta say - Mads Mikkelsen fits the character visually better in my opinion. Yes, Grindlwald is a psychotic maniac, but he is also a tragic figure. Mikkelsen literally looks like "insane-angered-melancholy" personafied.

I honestly hope that Johnny Depp will return to the role, but in a way where we can still see Mads Mikkelsen's and even Colin Farrell's Grindelwald forms be present. Regardless, a phenomenal video!
I'm torn personally. I really loved Johnny Depp's Gellert until I saw Mads' Gellert. Johnny has unfortunately developed the need to 'put a mask on himself' when he plays a role now. I do not believe he could have, at the present time (he definitely could have back in his younger days), shown the subtle and beautiful clear love from Gellert that came in spite of his 'mad plans' that Mads was able to achieve.
Well, acting is all about wearing a mask so I don't see that as being a problem. I personally found most of Mads's performance as Grindelwald to be dry and not as cunning and tricky as Depp's portrayal. Whatever ends up happening, Johnny's time in the role will always be the true form of Grindelwald for me.

But we need to worry about more is people refusing to go and see #FantasticBeastsTheSecretsOfDumbledore all because of her comments; I’d highly encourage and recommend everyone [please Encourage as many other people as you can as well please :-) See it as many times as they can in theaters, and even If possible,buy a ticket for it In place of going to see another movie so that way it still gets money without you actually having to see it multiple times. Buying as many merchandise directly related to it as possible will also truly help.
Also remember that if you’re refusing to see it because of #JohnnyDeppIsMyGrindelwald Then please remember that this movie needs to do well so as to give Johnny the chance to actually come back in the Later movies, For the actor who played MacNair The executioner was re-casted for prisoner of Azkaban and then came back for order of the Phoenix. The bottom line is that if #FantasticBeastsTheSecretsOfDumbledore Doesn’t do well, And they don’t make the remaining two movies,then Johnny definitely will never be back as Grindelwald!Plus you also have to remember that it’s about to be a new company with new people over seeing it, So as such you were technically not paying that company and are actually giving more of a chance than not having him actually return. Especially depending on what may happen with the results of his trial that’s going to be happening shortly after the movie comes out, the new people taking over Warner Bros. right before it comes out……
Also remember in regards to her that she doesn’t necessarily get a whole lot of money from this, as well the fact remains that as many people have pointed out that she already has so much money that not supporting the series will not really change any kind of “power“ that you may have against her, and after all the series should not suffer at all because of her for Regardless of what you may think, nothing I repeat nothing will ever ever truly take away what a series overall truly means to you let alone other people, And again it’s not The series that’s the problem at all in any kind of way :-)
Also keep in mind that even though it’s not the best example they have at least one transgender person or someone who identifies themselves as “They” in the cast so much for her transphobia……
