      No 7-10 years ago he would've been fine, the problem is the cars are carrying an extra 280 KG of weight while lapping even faster. They need to get the weight of the cars back down to 565 KG.

    0:25. I remember seeing this with my family. We all gasped in shock. We were nearly silent. I was on the verge of tears. I thought us, the formula 1 fans, had lost one of our beloved drivers. I was relieved to see Romain talking in the medical car after them not showing any replays of the crash for minutes. The fact that he could've had died there if the halo wasn't there is scary. He's retiring from F1 after this year, going back to his wife and 3 kids. If he died 3 races before he was supposed to be back, that wouldn't be the easiest thing for his wife to say to their children.

    This video doesn't capture the sheer horror in the 5 minutes after the crash, when nobody knew anything about Grosjean. Waiting for the first pictures of him outside the car was just horrific.

      @@goncalomarques251 this is just it. We can never account for every eventuality and the safety of modern F1 can make us complacent with just how dangerous this sport inherently will always be. Glad he was able to get himself out, if he was obstructed worse by the barrier or knocked out by the impact this could of been the worst case scenario. Lady luck was watching the race today but we can't downplay the advances in safety either, without the halo it wouldn't of mattered imo, would of been game over on impact likely.

    After seeing the hole the front of the car made through the barrier and see where the halo was. I just cannot believe how Romain managed to get himself out of that space and pull himself over the barrier in a fire. Really is a miracle.

      In the end I don't feel really sorry for him. Not stopping the car like IMMEDIATELY is just selfish. We maybe could've have had a nice finishing three laps with maybe some overtakes if he would just stop directly near an exit. Now it's a SC ending with an even more damaged Racing Point car. Just idiotic imo.

    I've never been the biggest Grosjean fan, but he is still a person. Heart sank when I saw that crash. I know he is very lucky but what a testament to the development of safety. To think if this happened 3 years ago, he would have died. Still, what a badass for pulling himself out of that kind of fire.

In 2012 when he caused that crash that made me like him more cuz ppl opinions were always negative after that. I remember him chasing down vettel at spa 2014. He is also a gp2 champion he has raw speed, I will admit he can complain abit too much sometimes but try driving at the speed they drive at,and not be comfortable with it knowing I can have a moment like this at anytime because not being able to control it

      The celebration was nowhere near the same scale. Verstappen celebrated about as much as he always does, and HE DIDN'T THROW HIM INTO THE BARRIER.
      Hamilton did a full victory lap waving his flag, ran off from post-race interviews to celebrate and wave to the fans, and never mentioned Verstappen until ASKED about him. Despite being personally responsible for sending him to the hospital. Hamilton went overboard with the celebrations (because he is mentally unwell and is struggling to cope with the fact that he has lost this championship)

They discussed it when the session was stopped. It might've caused some damage to the tire or a puncture and therefore - it made Grosjean's car turn right

    What an explosion.. Grosjean was in that burning car for about 25 seconds. And he lost his boot while getting out. Dude is lucky to be alive. The Nomex suit, the halo, and the medical team all did their job flawlessly. Massive respect to the doctors and medical professionals on hand, as well as that very first track steward who, if you look at the full footage, almost ran for his life. But he thought enough to grab the nearest fire extinguisher and start putting out the fire.

      The halo, man. Without that halo, Grosjean's head would have ripped off his body & disintegrated on impact with the barrier. That he survived at all is a miracle. That he managed not only to get out, but walked away with only minor burns........that's a testament to Grosjean, the halo, the Medical team, the marshals & the larger F1 organization.     Watching it live I immediately thought “ I just watched someone die”. The fact they didn’t show the crash for so long afterwards. Halo indeed

      That fireman is from safety car not from other side of track. If you talkin about the marshal behind the barrier he barely put out any fire with his exthinguisher that let really small water

      Wasn’t this the Perez fire you’re thinking about? Not shown in this video, but after Perez pulled over a marshall ran across the track with extinguisher, to the dismay of the next driver who had to brake for him.

    still can't get over seeing the driver came out. Halo truly saved this driver's life. he has been in a fire for 30 secs and got out. Not only the halo but also his outfit. It protected his body from burns. The only burns he suffered are his hands.
