  • A theory known as pronatalism claims to want couples to have more babies to fight falling birth rates and has seen support from people like billionaire Elon Musk. But the idea also faces controversy with some critics saying the movement only wants certain kinds of babies. NBC News’ Maura Barrett met with a couple who follows the theory.

Pronatalism isn't about encouraging everyone to have tons of kids; it's about ensuring that our economies, social services, cities, etc. still work when populations start to decrease in size (right now, their proper function is largely predicated on population growth). Everyone wants the economy to improve, however pronatalism / demographic collapse awareness and appropriate planning for population decreases is essential regardless of the present state of the economy.

Fortunately, I have very easy pregnancies and recovery very quickly. This makes me very lucky, obviously, and we certainly don't expect that others would have kids so closely together (though we know of plenty who have kids in even closer succession).

It’s going to be the same with these types of families who just pump out kids for the aesthetic/fetish/belief and the kids don’t get any attention or care, just at birth then become a caretaker for the next sibling. In the past people had lots of kids in poverty so they can earn more money from the kids. The poor people just pumped kids for labor. It’s not ideal for humanity at all there’s literally a reason why 1 child is the average for a human unlike most mammals.
