      I've heard the LM bits are made from soft steel and not really very good. Plus if you lose one you can't replace it without buying an entire new set. For that kind of money you can buy proper 1/4 inch bit sets made by Wera, Wiha, or Bosch which are better quality

  • @simonh6371

    I have a similar set up but more for pocket carry, in different combinations with other gear. The Knipex Cobra XS (the black ones) but not the Knipex Plier Wrench XS which you have (so called as it doesn't have teeth inside the heads so as not to damage nuts/bolts)...I have the Wera 813 - yours is the 813R - which is just like yours but without the extended bit and ring part on it, but instead of a Wiha bitset I use mine with a Wera Bit Check 7 part set - 6 bits and a bit holder which also fits in power tools. So I have effectively 12 different screwdrivers, 6 stubby and 6 with the added bit holder for more reach. The bitset comes in a case but for pocket carry I can put the 813 handle, bit holder, and a couple of bits in my 5th pocket and still have room for a lighter or flashlight. Combined with a Spyderco I've got basically the same toolset as the Leatherman Skeletool but better quality and more options for use i.e. I can use 2 tools at the same time in separate hands. If I'm carrying a bag like going to work (on my bike) I carry more tools in a small pouch including a Leatherman but all small enough to be able to carry in one pocket in various combinations, without any bulges or discomfort. Like you I find carrying a knife plus separate quality tools is more flexible and gives you more capability than a one and done multitool.

  • @kingoftweaks
    @kingoftweaks Před 3 měsíci

    May I recommend you the 711L micro ratchet wrench? Way better and far more functional than your Wera handle. For flashlight, get the Nitefox K3 mini and glue a magnet to its bottom with double side tape. Do the "next mode memory bug" fix (very easy with just a pencil) and thank me later.

      @simonh6371 Před rokem

      In what sense do you mean that? In the sense that there's no need to carry individual tools as a pliers-based multitool was the solution to not doing that? That may have been the case decades ago but it's only within the last few years that such good quality, robust, versatile and compact tools have become available. When you can have better tools in the same form factor and the same weight as a Leatherman, the problem that Leathermans were designed to solve has gone away, and the one fits all multitool has become obsolete or at least superceded.

      I reckon it depends what jobs you need to do. I looked at those Xiaomi drivers and they look cool but I don't think they're for heavy use, whereas Wera / Wiha drivers & bits are pretty much indestructible - made in Germany vs made in China.

      @@Emrullah_BASER Yep the Xiaomi screwdriver is very nice in fact, I just looked again at it online and it seems in fact to be well made. It caught my attention a few months back when I was looking for pocketable EDC drivers. I think it's just a tiny bit on the large side to fit in a pocket with other gear like a knife, Knipex Cobra XS so maybe not an ideal solution for me but I can see the appeal, especially in a small pouch or bag, or even at home in a drawer or tool kit. As for my pocket solution I found the Wera 78mm 813 handle (not the 813R you see here) is very very small and probably the most robust and well made in that size. There are screwdrivers with bitsets made specifically for EDC, probably the best one which I absolutely love the look of is the Big Idea Design EDS...sleek and compact, made from Titanium, with a pocket clip, the thing is awesome but even an EDC fanatic like me isn't going to pay £128 = $160 = 145 Euros or 3,095 Turkish Lira for it! That's just a bit over the top unless you really need a tiny good quality bit driver which you're going to use every day.

      @briterobert Před rokem +5

      I’d disagree. Many people have 1 solid tool that’s $100. Just a Leatherman or a nice knife can quickly get up to $200 alone.
      My small waist pack edc has a small tool kit that’s more than double the cost of his kit. I have some of the same tools and some other items.
      I know that the age of cheap Chinese garbage leads us to think $200 for a solid little kit you’ll use a lot is nuts. What’s nuts is how much money your average American (myself included sometimes) spends on cheap Chinese garbage that breaks so quickly and never did a great job in the first place.
      Quality tools cost more. They should. If nothing else, not using slave labor in Chinese death camps and identifiable steel costs way more.

    • @clintwestwood3539
      @clintwestwood3539 Před rokem +4

      I hardly disagree. This kit will last AT LEAST one life. Easily multiple generations.
      A Leatherman? If it lasts the warranty, you are lucky.
      And they both cost the same.
      Also do you manage to somehow destroy the wrench? You can buy that and have a new one the same day without any problem, with very few bucks.
      Leatherman gets damaged? Good luck on having it before a few weeks.
      People really don’t consider this.
      The only thing in which a multi tool is better than dedicated tools is the ability to carry it in your pocket. That’s why I strongly dislike the surge for example, even tho it’s more capable than the original super tool or mr crunch, they lost the real reason why Tim Leatherman created them.
      They now try to emulate dedicated tools, but will never ever succede in this. They are just a bastardised tool at this point no good in doing either.
      I strongly support this kit. I have a very similar one and a Swisstool mx in my pocket everyday (easy to carry)

    What a joke. Looks like tools you would give a kid.

      Thanks for watching. Yep, tools that a kid can hold, let’s see if your kid would do this w/them:

      Little tools (quality) come in handy. Ask any Tradesmen.

      Lol your comment is a joke and looks like something a kid would say. Those Knipex pliers are forged and obscenely strong, and you could probably literally rip apart a Leatherman with them. The Wera and Wiha tools are also made in German and will probably be around in perfect working order long after you and I are dead.

    Not a fan of the xs pliers I think the 125mm is better and cheaper the xs is more for the aficionados if you ask me.

      For EDC it's always a trade-off between utility and size/weight. I mean the 10''/250mm Knipex Cobra is undoubtedly better but I don't want to lug that beast around.
