I like your thinking and it is what, I kind of do. I didn’t know I was. I use TNs for this kind of practice. A separate book as my planner. ( an actual planner) I use about one TN per quarter. I don’t have an index.. I don’t know I need one for how I would use it. I do like the little bits you use for decorating. I doodle and write random thoughts, scripture, friends thoughts, garden lay outs, “I wants”, and quotes.. I just subscribed to your channel and am glad to see how you take these challenges on. Thank you.

thank you so much for your thoughts and your subscribing! I appreciate it. Not everyone need index, because everyone has their own styles and needs when journaling/commonplacing. Again, thanks so much.

Thank you. It’s a good idea to use multiple books to store the information.

This is so helpful for me. I really like all your ideas. But keeping different subjects in different books is such a game changer for me. I have 3 composition notebooks with different subjects in them from different types of art projects and techniques to entirely other topics. How do I find these different notes unless I page through each notebook. I’m thinking of removing them by their subject and making a scrapbook cover for them. Or maybe because I left several pages for an index it would be easier to just go through and list the different topics in a table of context. Yes that would be easier at this point. But going forward I’ll use your suggestion. You make the idea of a commonplace notebook so easy. I also love your minimal and decorative and negative space style. I now have a much better idea of how to better use my note taking system. I’ve only watched 2 of your videos but will be watching your other videos. Thank you.

Thank you so much Bonnie for watching my videos, and I'm so glad I can help out or inspire you. Notebooks should be personal to the person who wrote it and the person who wrote it would find how to best use it. Including doing table of content or indexing. Could be as simple or as complicated however the person's wants. Thank you for your time again!

This is inspirational! I have a Hobonichi Day Free from last year that I hardly used. We've been visiting my daughter's church the past few weeks (and likely will stay) and the sermon notes are not online like our home church, so I will need a place to write them down. I think I'll pull that out the old Day Free this morning before we leave!
Is there some kind of clear cover you could get to put on your book that is flaking? Or some packing tape or something to help minimize the mess?
Have a great week, Miranda! 🌺

Hi Kathy, thanks for watching! The clear cover I usually use the Midori notebooks clear cover, it usually works perfectly with hobonichi 1/2 year as well, and would be a tad bigger on the side for hobo day free, but usually I don't mind that, as long as I got the cover for it. You can get it in jetpens for midori notebook clear cover in A5. Hope that helps!

Thank you for sharing. Could you tell more about the ring binder you show at 5:17? It’s very pretty and looks convenient. I hope to get one for myself. Thank you.

hello Linda. The ring binder is just A5 regular ring binder for school, but I made my divider and change the cover as well, using scrapbook papers.

When you showed the brown notebook in the middle with the stickers, I thought “That kinda looks like mine.
I find if I put stickers on the page I write in it more often.
