  • The Thirty Day journey takes Billy out of Alabama and deeper into the south. One of the issues Billy has on the road is finding things to eat which caused him to seek out Ride On Smoothie In Columbus, GA. The day ended with Billy having family dinner with his Aunt Sue (Daughter of Grandma Lillian). The exploring of his family history has been an important part of this trip.

I'm so glad I fell in love with the early work of this man. I may not find all he's done as relatable as I once did but I am always enjoying his journey and his intellect. For us, at the moment some 700 or so, that enjoy these little windows into more it is warming and moving in a way similar to growing over many years. Not easily quantified or described, just a warmth found in observing a soul in time.

Same here. The parallels with my family. I had heard the word way in the past but it was used to describe something else. Though, yeah, I guess it is fatalism. I had always called it a curse on the family and thought it emanated from my dad's side.

I saw the pumpkins on lollapalooza in 94 and loved hearing Gish and Siamese Dream! Both records are pure HEAVEN! Billy, James, Darcy, and Jimmy doesn’t get better than that! I’m not gonna lie: I REALLY MISS DARCY BEING IN THIS BAND 💔

what l can see happens too often with bands l like is that they mellow out once they've reached a certain level of success and the financial reward that comes along. Most were people who lived a life of sorrow, scarcity, rejection whose talent, emotion, and hunger for success led them to make the beautiful art we enjoy today. Once money has brough in peace the hunger goes away and we get frustrating results. As a fan l understand and l'm perfectly fine with that. All it takes is placing yourself in their shoes

OH MY WORD! This was like stepping into my own family's house. Seeing the 1960/70's photo album with all the earlier family photos. You realize that everyone's the same, just different people, different lives. Then I noticed out of all the chairs, his aunt had one metal chair, and thats the one she sat in. My grandmother does this too. Not sure the reason his aunt does it, but my grandmother does it because it's the least comfortable and reserves the better chairs for company.

I wonder if there's any connection between older Smashing Pumkins album art and Billy's family photos?

Billy Corgan early work has aged so well..some alternative music did not age well...a lot of stuff I listened to when I was a teen is not..well...good.
Anyway smashing pumpkins is still relatable, sounds fresh, always amazes me that some songs are so intricate. songs like disarm or Drown sound different on ever listen in a way...like I can hear something in there I didn't hear on my 20th listen.
STP and Veruca salt and the breeders still sound good to me also...
