Word of advice: leave the tape on the handle until you're finished. It will help prevent the handle from breaking off the basket.

i used painter tape and can purchase at supermarket or local hardware stores

tou can fix it by putting a toothpick to mend it and if it shows you can hide it with a flower or a bow. hope that helps.
How did you make it sit flat?????
You can cut a thin piece on the bottom before you carve it if it rolls around
