Harley Benton - Precision Bass kit build & demo

- After discovering that every Precision Bass on the Belgian second hand market seemed to be so obviously fake, I decided to go ahead and splash out on #Thomann's €88 Harley Benton Precision Bass. The body itself does not lend itself to staining or scorching, because the enormous amount of wood sealer it was covered in. Otherwise, it was a blast: perfect neck fit, pre-drilled holes everywhere and the instrument plays great and intonates perfectly. The pickup has, of course, a cheap ceramic magnet and could of course be replaced with a Seymour Duncan, Fender, Dimarzio or Kinman... unfortunately even the cheapest after market pickup for Pbass costs €78.... so maybe later.

Thank you very much!
Proper gedaan ! Ik heb de kant-en-klare zwart/witte versie
Cool build
Try it - a great experience
one chord
funk E funk
You could use the flame for an edge to a sunburst.
Have you tried the Stingray style bass Harley Benton makes? I really like the look of the five string one with the 3 band EQ.
Hi, well, I have an active Cort bass, but simply wanted a plain and simple P Bass. This kit was 88 euro, it was more about the experience than anything else. Hadn't even seen their stingray copies - thanks for the comment
thanks for the vid, can you tell me how much it weights in total?
Dude how easy wouid it be for a different bridge and pots? I want to go for a black Stealth bass... Matte black stain and black hardware
What do you think of the bass?
I'm thinking about building a kit some time.
Hey man, great build, I have a similar one, how did you figure out where to put the bridge?
CannedGoodness this kit came with all holes drilled... if you dont have that youll have to find the correct location by meauring . Put neck on before you drill and check straightness etc
@@zjokka Thanks for the reply man, appreciate it. I've figured it out, had to measure the scale length and work from there
Why put a fender logo on a harley benton kit? 🙄
MCA Geeff just to piss off moralists like you whose channel has no content 😘 its my bass and I do what I want. Also you whine about the decal and not about HB copying Fender? 😆
@@zjokka haha best response! Don't let the haters bring you down!
That's bloody funny!
Why not?
Now you can sell 700 $ 😀
Great job. What did you use on the fretboard?
UncleGrunt thanks - just some lin seed oil, but lately agree with Scott Grove - fretboards dont need oil. If you sweat just a little, oil is pushed out😁
zjokka thanks. I do usually use linseed oil if they’re looking dry
Ciao bellissimo video. Ti volevo chiedere che modello è il kit di basso? Davvero un fender 😮 quanto costa il kit? Grazie e buon natale bro!
🎉❤
Thomann prices vary... please check their website. Mind you the cheapest assembled Pbass can be had for the same price, or that used to be the case at least...
Thanx for the video. Where can I find The Fender head stock decal stickers ?
Thanks for the nice comment. I used to buy them on ebay for 5USD a piece or more, way back in the day... but for this one, I don't even remember. But during this build I did experiment somewhat with printing the decal on somewhat shinier paper and transferring it using scotch tape. Hope this helps you find some videos on yt about this.. I'm sure there are, haven't checked though. //ZJ
@@zjokka Big thanx for your answer, nice to read you !!!
Where did you find the fender logo stickers and what did you use to apply them?
I printed them with a inktjet printed on plastic sheet or plastic sticky tape...
@@zjokka that's stupid
@@AndyBondo I love how this gets on people's nerves! This is how the internet works!
@@zjokka doesn't bother me mate.
You just being a dick mate.
I like what you did and I like the kit, but come on princess. Ya can't stick fender on there. . It's like the guy who buys a Chinese motorbike and puts a Harley sticker on it. You are allowed to , by all means , do what ya want. ..
But like I said.
It's stoopid
Have a nice day
@@AndyBondo You don't understand: this is one of my most popular because the comments ot it went beserk (over the decal). Commenting on videos has much bigger weight than likes... btw the decal's long gone
What did you use to stain the wood?
I just used wood stain, I think. However, as stated in the video, these bodies are drenched in wood sealer. Spray painting may be as easier option...
try wilkinson pickups much cheaper
I tried the laser pointer at my cat, she only looked up to the laser pointer
Your cat is either dead, blind or overfed...
zjokka last one
Don't play with lasers with cats. They can never catch it and become frustrated. Part of the thrill of hunting is catching the prey, it gives them happy hormones.

Please do...
We don't want the body weight in Grams,
we want it in ounces!!!!!
If you ask Google, you will get the answer without the magic word your dear mother taught you way back in the 50's...
OMG this is a bad luthier. Did you see the ruined headstock. What a shame…..
I don't think he's a Luthier bro
are you a real person or just a 15-year old hiding behind a brand name? with a contentless channel... what a shame
@@zjokka dude you know some people haven't finished becoming a grown-up yet...
Not the fender logo for god's sake
Thanks for the comment - it really helps. What do you call this - a precision bass invented by Fender! Please unwaddle your panties...
@@zjokka Fender didn't make it
And then Fender can sue you because you just made a fake Fender and uploadeda video about it.
Why would they do that? If they would, I could make a video about it and it would go viral. I am not selling this bass, it's my personal instrument, so I'm not stealing from Fender. Take a minute to think about why Fender does not sue Harley Benton... they are making money off Fender's legacy . Fender has a top notch marketing department that understands too well all Fender copies are just a testimony to Fender's legacy...
