      Cassandra Bankson Cassandra have you ever try bb creams from Korea, you probably know how keen they on the best products for the skin, worth checking those out . I think brands like innisfree and nature republic are the ones that like to use natural ingredients, I don't know any others but you can do your own research. It would be nice if you could give your opinion on them , so far I'm loving these videos series 😘

      You cannot shrink pores. Pore size is relation the size of the hair that occupies it. Cassandra doesn't science all that well. And she knows it. They also don't open and close, as Cassandra likes to claim. Hey guys, want to watch an actual dermatologist, ya know DOCTOR talk about skin? Watch Dr. Dray here on youtube. She is great.

    • @107Mirage
      @107Mirage Před 6 lety +18

      Sasha Baby I follow Dr. Dray and also Cassandra. And what a coincidence that Dr. Dray actually made a video called "Enlarged Pores" where she shares how to "decrease pore diameter." Of course it's the official way of saying "shrink your pores." I can't imagine saying to a friend "Hey it looks like I decreased the diameters of my pores." I'd rather say "My pores shrank." When there's a sunset we don't say "Look the earth has rotated away from the sun." We say "The sun went down." When we're sick we don't say "My white blood cells are fighting bacteria right now." That's just the English language. Also yes Dr. Dray is a doctor, which means she went to school. But Cassandra also went to school to learn enough about skin to finally repair it after so many years. It's great you're helping her channel out by giving her an extra view on her video. It seems you're interested because I believe you mentioned in another comment that you're also working out a trial and error on products and are here for more ideas. I actually use a few of the same products in this video recommended by my own doctor.

    • @sashababy6060
      @sashababy6060 Před 6 lety

      Dr. Dray also uses the word "transient" in regards to shrinking pore size. Do you understand this word? LOL. Of course you don't. You didn't understand Dr. Dray's video. Cassandra isn't a doctor. Period. She attended aesthetician school. Not the same. Not even CLOSE.

    Just to be clear there are bad alcohols for the skin and beneficial ones so if youre looking at a product and see alcohol dont dismiss it altogether because there are different types. BAD alcohols would be SD alcohol, denatured alcohol, or, less often, isopropyl alcohol. there are other types of alcohols, known as fatty alcohols, which are absolutely non-irritating and can be exceptionally beneficial for skin. Examples you’ll see on ingredient labels include cetyl, stearyl, and cetearyl alcohol. All of these are good ingredients for dry skin, and in small amounts fine for any skin type as they give a pleasing texture and help keep ingredients stable in products. It’s important to discern these skin-friendly forms of alcohol from the problematic types of alcohol.

    • @corsicanlulu
      @corsicanlulu Před 6 lety +3

      idk....anything drying is not good for skin in general, it causes acne and wrinkles

    • @rhasxsroge
      @rhasxsroge Před 6 lety +15

      corsican lulu In chemistry when a compound made of carbon has an OH (oxigen atom that is bind to a Hydrogen atom) bind to it it is called an "alcohol", a molecule made of two atoms of carbon (bind to each other and each one is bind to three hydrogens) is caled ethane, but if it has an OH bind to one of those carbons it is called ethanol, which is the common alcohol we all know (the one in alcoholic drinks, the one that you want to avoid in products) now, there are other types of alcohols with different structures (different numbers of carbon atoms, different spacial configuration, sizes) that are completely different to ethanol and therefore they have completely different functions in the skincare products and don't have the drying properties of ethanol when applied to the skin and some can actually act as emolient ingredients. I hope this helps you.

      While the fatty alcohols are beneficial for moisturizing the face they do have a chance of clogging the pores.

    I would like to share what I learned for anyone out there who don't know how to use lighter oils like Rosehip oil versus thicker oils like coconut or caster oil.
    A lot of people in the west don't quiet understand how to use certain oils yet. I'm of Indian origin and I've struggled with acne for years and I have extremely sensitive skin & I can't use most of the modern day products. My grandma had perfect skin even in her old age & I followed my grandma's advice on using pure Ayurvedic all natural products and it made a huge difference.
    Coconut oil or caster oil are not meant to be used as a moisturizer. They are used more like a skin conditioner & are very hydrating. What I do is when I wake up early in the morning, I apply/massage coconut or caster oil on my skin.. & leave it on for at least 30 mins (while i do other things with that wait time like yoga or studying). Then rinse my skin with chick pea flour (mixed with water to create a paste-like consistency) and I use that instead of any artificial face washes or soapy formulations. Chick pea flour or "Shikakai" (soapnut fruit) powder takes away the oily residue while locking in the moisturizing property, instantly hydrating the skin on the very first use.
    For toner in the night, one can also use rosewater mixed with tea tree oil on a cotton pad. I also use other Ayurvedic products that have beneficial effects like anti-inflammatory, antibacterial like turmeric, amla, tulsi etc which I won't go into here for now.
    Then there are lighter oils like Rosehip seed oil, Argan oil, etc., that can be used as a leave in moisturizers.
    Sunscreen is important and I currently love the "Lotus herbals" brand from India. It has carrot & avocado extract. It does not have preservatives and is the only sunscreen which doesn't irritate my skin.
    Anyways, I hope this helps clear any doubts for those who didn't quiet understand how to properly use coconut oil, which might have caused acne versus lighter oils like Rosehip or Argan oil :)

      Wow that was helpful. I used to wonder how you can properly clean castor oil (I was using it for some time) of your face. The paste you use totally makes sense. Damn that oil is difficult to be removed only with water and soap! It needs something to rub it with

    • @irongirlrocks2618
      @irongirlrocks2618 Před 6 lety +2

      +Γουάτ Δεφάκ glad it helped! :) I don't use soap at all to wash away my skin when I have that oil on, because we tend to really use a lot of soap/face wash to get rid of the oil and inturn it completely strips away the beneficial hydrating property of the caster oil, making the skin dry. Hence, chick pea flour paste is the best alternative to a face wash since it's gentle on the skin with mild exfoliating effect plus locks in the hydration from the caster oil. :)

    One of my favorite sheet mask is from 7th heaven (the dead sea one), it's super cooling and I swear by it! Since I started using it I've stopped buying other masks, because it does really work 😊 keep in mind that I have PCOS and I usually get hormonal acne on my cheecks, and since I started using a super simple skincare (OCM with coconut oil, ACV toner and sometimes an oil if my skin is feeling dry) and that sheet mask my skin cleard up 😭😍 (also drinking a lot of water and green tea and trying to not eat dairy helps!) Also sea salt is amagazin for acne!

    I love these series, the only thing I keep thinking is why do all these dermatologists, including the 24 you treated with... can't figure this out, can't do this!? Like everything MD try to do here is pills, and medications. If you go to a doctor and ask can I use this herbal tea, or this essential oil... they just shrug off and say it won't do anything! What happened to medicine, for centuries people didn't have antibiotics and still we survived with herbal medicine. I think today's medicine can be more harmful, because it'll try to treat one thing but give you 10 side effects. It's just really sad. So happy you clearned your skin xoxo you look amazing and happy.

      Sasha Baby LOLOLOL Bullshit. Everything she recommended is none irritating. But ofcourse everyone is different but it could happen. Many dermatologist recommend strong irritating products and they get paid by big companies to push certain products. I went ti seceral dermatologist tried a lot of the products they would give me and it made my acne worse. The peppermint soap she recommended is the brand I used to help clear my skin and tea tree oil is a good one too both just need diluting. Anyways your comment is so rude and full if BS. You're probably just the person behind the channel you're reocmmending and you're trying to get biews lol

    • @sashababy6060
      @sashababy6060 Před 6 lety +14

      Peppermint is an irritant. A very big irritant. My dad doesn't get paid to push anything. You people are so brainwashed. Do you get other medical information from girls in their 20s with youtube channels? Tea tree oil is one of the absolute worst things you can put on your skin. LOL, I'm so amused by how so many of you just buy into the cosmeceutical industry. You think it's the drug companies scamming you? LOLOLOLOL, if only you knew what the cosmeceutical and "all natural" prouducts industries are doing to take your money. The best things you can use for acne are prescription retinoids and isotretinoin. Cerave should really be the only wash or moisturizer you should use. Do you even science? Do you know how extremely toxic fragrance is to your skin? But please, keep wasting hundreds of dollars on "all natural" plant ingredients that are highly irritating and actually break down the moisture barrier of your skin. I'm serious, watch Dr. Dray on here. She's a DOCTOR. Sad that you'll trust this Cassandra chick over actually doctors who go to school for ten years and study the skin.

So I can understand arthritis unfortunately at a young age. And I have inflammation prone sensitive skin as well. I finally discovered using less expensive heavily water based foundation helps me to not break out the most. And washing my face with "simple" soap is the best for me. Probably because it has very few chemicals. And less is more when it comes to my infection prone face. Also getting enough nutrition (carbs, fat, protein) daily helped my face massively. I am going to try the olive oil tip and keep you posted. Thank you for showing me that my scars are a beautiful part of me. And to wear it as proud as I can. Kate. 🤗

      @CassandraBankson  Před 6 lety +8

      Truthfully, coconut oil is very trendy right now. It can work for some and not others. As mentioned, cleansers usually stay on skin 1-3 mins- the drb I use has a very high PH and would be DETRIMENTAL if left on skin. But it's only on my face 60 seconds 1x/day to break down dirt makeup and oil. I then use balanced and gentler products in toner and moisturizer as those stay on the skin :)

    Hi Cassandra! I really like these videos however I am still a bit confused on a few things:
    1. From everything i read, moisturizing is very important for acne prone skin. So a product with a good humectant is needed. The serum recommends moisturizing after so it's not enough, and jojoba oil- while great for the skin is still not enough to be used as a sole moisturizer. I noticed that you don't mention a moisturizer and so I was wondering why that is?
    2. Also what exactly defines "natural" products. I see this word tossed around a lot in the beauty industry with no clear definition as to what exactly it means and what makes it so much better and less harsh than conventional products.

      @aubreynicolebanares1356 Před 6 lety +2

      Liberty Mancino Tea tree oil, irregardless of the company that sells it, is naturally derived from the tea tree plant. As long as it was obtained organic (no chemical filtration, etc), it will have the same benefits as other tea tree oils in the market. However, it is an essential oil (like most fragrance oils) so it needs to be diluted before application to avoid sensitization. Fragrance oils (lavender oils, orange oils, etc) arent actually bad for your skin as it is naturally derived. In fact, they have a lot of skin benefits such as skin brightening, etc. It is the artificially-derived fragrances that can be skin irritants because they have completely different molecular structures which may cause allergic reactions. So dont dismiss fragrance oils completely, they are actually good for the skin as well. They are essential oils which just happens to have that unique scents to them. 😊👍

    • @haley-sian
      @haley-sian Před 6 lety +2

      Natural or synthetic fragrance are BOTH irritants. Personally, I would not recommend using either on the skin. Granted a “therapeutic” oil will have less synthetic fragrance and only natural fragrance but can still cause inflammation for some people. Source: I’m a biochemist.
