  • In this video, you will be smiling from the start when you meet Emmanuel and feel his energy and love of basketball. Coach Dave will give you a variety of evidence-based practices (EBP) to make your PE/APE classes, movement breaks, or exercise sessions more inclusive. With the help of Sinah, a neurotypical peer, this is another EBP known as peer meditated instruction that can transform your exercise sessions. Not only will Emmanuel be demonstrating some fundamental basketball skills, but he will also be incorporating counting into his activities, which helps build language skills and also keeps students or clients on task. As instructors, educators, and parents, remind yourself that sometimes our clients, students, or children may not want to participate with us. But working with or alongside appear can be more engaging and help them make the exercise connection. And to quote Emmanuel about his recent experience, “It's stupendous!”
