Hey Dani Steve from uk,been Elvis fan since I was 8 50 now just watched Elvis out take off him from 68 come bk singing trouble is voice is amazing and your right is peak for me was that's the way it is is voice look he was fit plus the songs pure class Elvis the chosen one keep the vids up luv them
I wish there was a time tunnel in this world that would take us back in time to witness this phenomenal called Elvis Presley who managed to break out in a short period of time and changed so many things in the world
Young Elvis‘s singing is so light and airy he floats through the lyrics and it’s a joy to listen to.
Thank you Dani for reacting the young Elvis. 👍👍👍
Just sat down and ate a bag of cracker jacks and listened to Elvis with Dani- can’t get more American than that on this 4th of July weekend!! Something about this song always energizes me listening to it. Good choice/good work young lady😀
Thanks for sharing this Dani. The birth of Rockabilly right there before your very ears, and he's in fine voice too, with his vocal mannerisms already well worked out. No wonder it was up up and away from here. Elvis has one of the best documented careers in musical history, and that's why I'm I'm in no special hurry to see the new film. I know I can admire the performances, the director's take on how it was, the production values etc., but I doubt it will teach me anything new about the man himself. For that I go to the source, his music and those who really knew him.
I remember listening to Elvis on the Lousiana Hayride and being so impressed, even through the static of AM radio. I had no idea how far he would go. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
I'm glad to see you're back on Elvis Thursday. I missed it. If I had time to look through some old footage I probably could find some because I've searched all kinds of Elvis stuff stuff on the internet
Hey dani my uncle listen to Elvis on the hayride on the radio I do believe that there's some rare film footage of Elvis at the hayride that hasn't been seen yet maybe home movie footage of Elvis at the hayride my gut feeling tells me it's out there and will it ever be released let's hope so
Fabulous to hear this early performance. I enjoy listening to my CD of recordings on Sun Records with so many great artists. Elvis was providing such a new, unique sound.
How fortunate we are just to have this recording!
Thank you Dani for this musical treat!! I really like Elvis's early recordings the most!! All of his music is great but for me the early stuff was top shelf!!
So hard to believe now, but that truly was a new sound - something that we had never heard before
Well not entirely, the sound existed among black musicians already. Elvis just brought the sound out there to a wider audience with a new spin/touch to it! We all know where he got his influences from :) His voice though, was like nobody else's.
He was just like a teenager. WOW
The best video performance of young Elvis I can find is the September 1956? return to Tupelo and I don't understand why you haven't reviewed that one. My opinion is it probably Elvis at his best ever.
Even at that young age you could hear in his voice there's something special there he was just the greatest
Dani, Elvis didn't appear on television until the end of January, 1956. This recording took place in September, October, 1954
great reaction dani, such a shame we couldnt see him,but loved hearing him at that age and the reaction of the crowd, a legend being born.
I would think there are videos from the Ed Sullivan Show, where famously he could not be shown below the waist because his gyrations were just "too much". :) There is also a video from another show where he sings Hound Dog to an actual dog.
And yes. This is THE FIRST live recording of an Elvis Presley performance
Is it true that one of his 1955 Hayride performances was filmed for TV? Sadly no footage exists though..
he sounds just like on record
Good rockin tonight
His sound is always captivating .He works his limitations to the full here again. Can you just imagine what he could do with 2022 musical tech?King would be holding musical court all day
Only Early 54&55 that exists as far as video is 8MM Magnolia Gardens 55(The Tecnhnology for Movie footage with sound wasn’t there yet for general population)There are plenty of Audioe from 54/55 though,Dorsey Brothers early 56 is the Earliest Footage with sound you can find😉
How about making a DVD of your most loved Elvis ballads?
Hi Dani ,
I saw your review of The Movie,I thought Austin had the 50’s Perfect,The Speaking Voice everything,There are plenty of audio tapes of him from 54 &55,He had a more Rockabilly Higher Voice when speaking & Singing ,Austin got that very well,By 56 the more polished & Lower voice evolved ,That’s what most of the TV’s show,Thanks for posting this ,Great Content!
Enjoyed the video
Young elvis I reckon would have been the hardest elvis voice for Austin butler to learn for the elvis movie
I reckon it would have been easy for him to learn jumpsuit elvis voice .🙂👍
He did the 50’s Fabulous!
I would love to hear what you thoughts are on him singing “Life” a gospel song. Thank you and I love Thank you, thank you very much Thursday 😊
Hi Dani,
Congratulations on surpassing 35k subscribers, forgot to mention it the other night.
"Louisiana Hayride" was a live radio show, so nothing was filmed and a lot of the time they didn't even record it, which gave the film makers quite a bit of artistic license, It's probably fair to say that Elvis first performance wasn't quite as dynamic as it appears in the movie.
Audio recordings of most of Elvis performances on the show do exist with the notable exception of his performance of "Rock around the clock" from 1955 . In some cases we have to rely on home recordings fans made while listening to the show on the radio, so the audio quality isn't always the best.
The first film footage of Elvis comes from a live show @Magnolia Gardens, Houston on Aug 7th. 1955, It was shot by someone in the audience and is decent quality but doesn't have any audio.
There is nothing else until the TV shows in 1956.
XOXO from England.
There was no mocking Elvis. He was beloved from the get go
From his fans yes, everyone else... not so much, let's be real here lol.
I recommend a reaction to
Aloha From Hawaii - I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry
I can barely hear Elvis' rhythm guitar in That's All Right. Not the best recording conditions.
What's the IG darling?
