Thanks for the video man. Much appreciated. 36 and a Norwood 3 here. I just started the derma rolling finasteride and minoxidil. I figure I’d go all in for a year and reevaluate this time next year. But you’re right at this age people have no sympathy for us and coming to terms with our hair struggles
I’m 30 with the same thing. Glad to see you have a sense of humor about it. There’s really no other option, that’s how I handle it.
There are other options though?
My hair is pretty much identical to yours (I'm the same age).
One of the things that sucks most at this point is this feeling that this particular stage is the very last one where we don't *really* look like we're balding; that a little bit more thinning will eventually make it totally obvious.
+pusztai777, very true.
I don't get it, why not try Finasteride, RU58841, or if you want to avoid the pharmaceutical route, try Trichostem which has been shown to have excellent results???
It's still not bald
Thanks for the videos buddy, very informative. I am 22 at a norwood 2 currently, and am still attempting to grow out my hair. I hope my hair looks as good as yours when I am in my 30s.
Thanks!
Please take finasteride pills every day to address your hairloss at its root cause, putting it to a halt and maybe even slight reversal. If you feel like theres too much damage already done, add minoxidil too, applying it to the problem areas. Don't let your hair get worse.
I don't know what I am. I simply have thinning hair at the top but don't have a receding hairline at all. I still have the typical hair corners on the sides at the front and no recession. The hair is just thinner at the top in equal proportions. If it were buzz cut, my hair loss would go from being unoticeable to very noticeable. I've been taking finasteride and am adding in RU58841 to stop any remaining DHT from binding to the follicles. So far though, the Finasteride seems to be working to stop it in it's tracks and hopefully will grow some back over the next few years. I swear the Norwood scale doesn't seem to apply with my hairloss.
Am I wrong??
Im 40 and I guess im Norwood 2.5 then, seems like Im losing it but it goes really slow, but I still have a lot of hair everywhere else so theres no problem covering it.
My question is however, when they diagnosed you did they choose between Norwood 2 or 3? Meaning that they only use whole numbers, so in reality you might be closer to 2.5 but since ur closer to 3 they said Norwood 3. Because I dont see you as a Norwood 3
I'm 26 and I'm starting to have a similar pattern as yours I don't think I'm Norwood 2 yet in like a Norwood 1 but I'll probably be a Norwood 3 like you when I'm 35 hopefully. Hopefully I'm not a Norwood 4 or worse that would kill my self esteem or at least leave a huge dent. I'm starting to accept this hair loss thing, but I do agree with you in that people have no sympathy for Norwoods 1-3, and I understand back when I had no hair loss and a perfect hairline I didn't have any sympathy either I didn't think it was a big deal at all and basically didn't even notice it or pues much attention, but now that I'm experiencing it I know how traumatizing it can be, and I have a lot more sympathy for other guys with hair loss. Unfortunately I think acceptance is the best antidote and try to care as little as possible as hard as it may be. In the end I think we are all gonna envy that 50+ year old man with a full head of hair whoever those lucky bastards are. Congrats to them, to the rest of us we will keep working with what we got, but I totally agree on how awkward minor recessions are.
Hey man how long was it before it started getting a lot worse? I am feeling very depressed. Mine looks very similar to yours and I am 27 (nearly 28). I didn't think I would recede because my dad never receded and my grandad on mum's side has a full head of hair still at 73.
My hair has been a big part of my identity and I feel so upset, but I don't want to take FInasteride or minoxodil due to the sexual side effect risk and potential PFS
I'm norwood 3 and have super thick hair. I always hide my temple recession. 😪😪
I have no idea what to do. Ive buzzed and shaved it and i feel like i havent earned the bald
Look so i might grow it back. Its all fucking confusing
im 18 and i have almost the same hairline apart from my widows peak is at a tighter angle
hey i'm 19 and having a slightly recieding corner and some minor thinning at the temples but the top of my head is thick am i losing hair or it's just stress- related ?? :-/
Alaa Nasser well pretty much every guy has at least a tiny bit of recession between the ages of 18-21 do your all right. It will stop most likely and you will just have a mature hairline.
i’ve been sitting at norwood 3ish since i was 15. im 19 now and have the same hairline. hopefully it stays this way
Same and I hate it, I have long hair and you can see my temples through my hair even if my hair is going over them, it's worse on the right than the left, I'm 23 now
@@TheMetalhead678 same here bro but i have that since childhood and I'm 22
I’m 13 right now and mine is like in between a 2 and a 3. Im hoping it stays this way and doesn’t get worse.
Me to, I was basically born with a Norwood three.
Im sorry but if it is that much norwood at only 13 you will be bald completely by 20 - 25.@@memefountain1807
I've been norwood 2 since 21 or younger. At 37, I'm not sure if its gotten slightly worse over the years or just my imagination.
My Norwood 3 looks so much worse than yours :( On top of it, my scalp hair thinned out. But people say to me exactly what you said in this video - that I'm not balding. I feel it's extremely obvious though.
28 and in between 2 and 3. Guess my dreams of looking like a pint of guinness are over.
35, almost 36 and Norwood 3 vertex. Didnt expect it tbh, major shock. Went really fast this last year. Defenitely thinking of shaving it all of lol and crying. First gonna try minoxidil
Minoxidil is only a short term solution that doesn't address hairloss at its root cause. Take Finasteride to prevent your hairloss from progressing and it will also help maintain your minoxidil results as long as you're consistent with both treatments.
I’m 45 I have the same receding hairline as u but that about it the rest of my hair it’s ok, no crown balding.
I am 17 and at the same stage do you have s
ome advice?
Im balding excessively and only 18. I have literally spend 1.5 year obsessing about my hair. I plan on moving to another city and wear a hair piece.
Are u bald now?
Did the reaper Norwood take you, brother?
When I lost like 60 lbs and started eating healthy, my hair went from a norwood 2 to a norwood 3 within a few months. I assume my hair just fell out due to the change in my hormones and hopefully my hair grows back in the next few years
I hate this battle. Age 27 norwood 3. Why could we not lose hair on the sides?
What Norwood are you now ?
he is a norwood 5 now :(
@@kainehorridge8340
Hey there, it’s been awhile but I’m 27 and Norwood 3 too. This shit sucks, genetics are so unfair
I'm 28 and have a Norwood 1 (which I've only just noticed after capturing myself on video). I'm not technically balding but I've come to realize that even if I do my own parent's genetics come into play and it could be a very slow process.
I have to mention as well that when I was 18 or so I couldn't just grow a full beard and had peach fuzz but by the time I hit my early 20s I could grow a proper beard. Today I can grow a full beard in about 2 or 3 weeks.
My Mother's side of the family have men who typically kept all of their hair their whole lives. My Grandfather on her side kept all of his hair until he passed away.
On my Dad's side it's a little bit iffy. My Grandfather lost all of his hair by the time he was 35 (he went completely bald). My Dad however started to lose his hair at age 22 or 23 but by the time he was 40 he was still only a Norwood 3. It was only until he hit his late 50s that he started progressing towards Norwood 4 and even then it's debatable whether he was even a Norwood 4 or just a Norwood 3 with a lot of recession.
He's opted for the shaved head look these days but you can still see the shading of his hairline and he (in my opinion) sits at a recessed Norwood 3 as opposed to a Norwood 4.
That's given me a lot of hope that perhaps I may stay at a Norwood 1 or if I do start balding later on I stop at a Norwood 2 or 3 for the rest of my life.
But that's a moot point anyway. I'm totally fine and okay with shaving my head and growing out a goatee to compensate.
Love your videos by the way.
I have an 8 inch hairline... think you can handle that?
@@painexotic3757 What does that mean
What's your hair looking like now?
No, you are a norwood 2 with some thinning on top. The only problem you have is the thinning all over, it would be cool to see how good it can look with some kind of keratin pownder
I looked at your thumbnails with your buzzed headshots. I compared them to different Norwood charts. I think you're a borderline Norwood 3. I truly think you resemble more a NW2, but I'm not an expert. It will be interesting to see your hairline when you eventually buzz it again. Then there will be a greater period of time between the two buzzcuts. I wonder if there will be a noticeable increase in recession.
Very true. I think the next buzz cut, whenever it will be, will definitely reveal a different hairline.
Buzzing speeds up the process of your receding hairline. Your Basically killing the weak hairs in that section of the receding hairline.
Whisper Cars I don't believe buzzing speeds up the process at all. A weak follicle is going to eventually lose the hair on its own. When you use clippers to cut the hair off there is no real contact between the clippers and the follicle. The hair that you see outside of the follicle is in itself already dead matter. If anything a buzzcut could help keep hair in weak follicles longer. With the hair beung clipped short, there is less tugging or pulling that can cause weak follicles to release the hair.
what makes you think that?
I'll tell you why i disagree- dht affects different hair follicles differently depending on androgen receptors in the follicle and genetic susceptibility, if you shave your hairline it will fall off quicker, but if you shave the back of your hair your beard and body hair- it grows thicker after every shave, this is probably related to dht and it's different affects. A surgeon told me that one way to get a good hair transplant is to shave the donor hair, or the transplanted parts as the hair will grow thicker. I've actually started shaving small sections in the back of my head regularly to prepare myself for when i need donor hairs.
@@bluesclues132 what if i shave my head but not short , like what if i shave it with a number 5 guard?
this is norwood 2
Are you sure, I have the same hair as nick
It absolutely isn’t a Norwood 2 lol
it’s 3
Norwood 2.5 maybe, as apart from the temples there's good volume on the top
It’s okay to lose your hair if you have a beard. I don’t and I’m Norwood 3. It’s depressing af
same except im norwood 1.5 and 19
Beards are for apes.
This is my dads hair. The males on my moms side of the family don't really have any hair.
Yea you are norwood 2-3
But the way you keep your hair down makes you look you have no issues at all
Dude nobody who looks at you sees a bald or balding guy. I wish I had hair like you. I’m about a Norwood 4.5 in my 40s with very limited hair options desperately trying to hold on. Do not buzz your head unless you plan to go shiny bald. Buzzing will show your exact hairline.
I'm 17 and have a norwood 2, what do I do with it.
Norwood 2 is not to worry about. Many men get to a NW2 during their teen years and early 20s and then stay like that for decades. NW 2 is still considered stable or as a maturing hairline. One of the best examples of NW2 is Leonardo DiCaprio.
20 year old with norwood 3. i’m fucked. so fucked.
That's NW2
What makes you say that? I’m pretty much where he is at 27 but feel that it’s definitely Norwood 3 based off what I’ve seen.
@@jacobshoaf5437 Look at the Norwood chart, it looks closer to a 2, than a 3.
@@jacobshoaf5437 - Nick's not a Norwood 3. He's a Norwood 2 with some light diffuse thinning that tends to happen with age. Norwood 3 on a side profile means that if you did a line from the start of your ear to the top of your head, the recession would go past that line. Nick's recession is nowhere near that. His hairline is at least an inch in front of that line which points to a Norwood 2.
Nick will probably keep his hair for a very long time as his thinning is quite slow. If you're a Norwood 2 with light diffuse thinning at 40 ish (which Nick is), it's going to take a long time to become a Norwood 5, 6 or 7 (15-20 years) and may never happen.
However, if you're 27 with diffuse thinning, you're thinning is way more aggressive and means you'll likely be a Norwood 4-5 by your early 40's and a Norwood 6-7 by your late 40's/early 50's. If you're thinning (particularly on the crown), you should start using Rogaine/Minoxidil and Finasteride immediately if you want to keep your hair.
Age 23, Norwood 3,5 i think :( using minoxidil every day. I think i will be bald soon.
:(
Need to use finasteride too.
@@soviethammer645 Too late, I'm bald.
@@RacherW Damn really? I am Norwood 3 and my hair has gotten pretty thin in the front and crown.
@@jesusb9562 I had a hair transplant and i have hair again. It is only 6 months but already looks good :D Clinicana in Turkey
I'm 23 and only recently within the last couple of years, my hairline started drastically recessing above my temples into what you would refer to as a "Norwood 3" It's sort of an "M" shape. I don't wanna lose my hair :(
I also like to mention, I have no crown balding, it's nice and thick back there and on my sides, I just have the M shape similar to you, but mine's definitely worse.
@@harveyjake1985 Have you considered trying a DHT inhibitor. Honestly, unless you're taking some drug or medication that is exacerbating your hairloss, that's really the only thing that will help you keep your hair. Once you stop the hairloss then you have the option of transplants
@@Zeppelin616 i have, same situation... Using minoxidil might have a chance to make it worse if you have hair loss in your family tree...
@@IamDivineFox Minoxidil doesn't make hairloss worse. Its a common misconception. It just has a temporary shedding phase where the weak and thin hairs are being pushed out, making room for thicker and stronger hairs to grow. Its a very short term sacrifice, for a long term gain. Taking minoxidil alongside Finasteride yields better results than using either drug alone.
Men. With your regular hair cut, you look fine. Nobody is gonna suspect you are getting "Bald". Trust me.
You look more N2 than N3.
Your hair just need to be a little bit unkempt to look normal.
The vertex area looks normal to me.
Hair also thin naturally when you age (this happens to women too). Not all hair thinning is linked to baldness.
From my mum side, males go early N2 but then they take the whole life to go N3.
From dad side they stay N1 until age 50 or 60, then their hair thin all on their head at once, and they go directly N6 or N7, except some that go gradually to N4 and stop.
My dad is transitioning from N1 to N6 at once.
Famous N3 is the old George bush. He was N3 since he was 16, but he stopped there.
My father has the same hair line since his 20's and guess what? It is still the same today and he is over 60.
So? What's your point?
Congrats
D X Some people starts balding for no reason but they dont go all the way. My father had like 5 years of balding when he was 45, now 10 years later, 1 decade without balding. It happens.
Some people recede till Norwood 3 and they stop there for years, a good indication is if your crown is balding or your overall hair on the top is thinning badly, that’s when you need to start to worry unless your hair’s density is still thick
this guy is nw 2 and its pretty normal for his age
you are OBSESSED with hairloss
+Guillermo García, you are too. That's why you are watching these videos.
yes, I was completely stoned when i found tour videos. I couldnt believe someone had this kind of channel, I really enjoyed watching the videos. I suscribed. Your father is really serious.

This looks more like natural thinning that balding. I have been at this stage for 5 years, no change, and i am older than you
bro. thats NW2 not 3
I invite you to watch my new videos instead. This one is very old.
Is it really NW2? Because my hairline is almost the same and I‘m wondering what it is now. Sometimes I think it’s Norwood 2 and then I think it’s Norwood 3. On the internet it’s always different. Some of the NW 2 pictures looked worse than some NW3 pictures there.
more like norwood 2.5 than three....
You look when you pulled it up, you aint kidding nobody but yourself
Look better *
Ceaser cut. Get a Ceaser cut. It'll compliment the receding hairline.
I fear my thinning it keep it from working.
Pennywise the dancing clown is Norwood 3
Good call.
dude yes it looks like ur balding but honestly u still have a lot of har for ur age just enjoy it
If I had the face of Dwanye Johnson, Vin Diesel or Jason Statham I would hate growing hair XD
The thing is that they would all look better with hair though. Georges St Pierre and Yul Brynner are the only 2 guys I can think of that actually looked better after they shaved their head, but neither of them had particularly good hair to begin with.
Good video! Ha, that's funny, and you're right: nobody has any sympathy for a norwood 3! Especially a norwood 3 in his 30s. The m-shaped norwood 3, like you still have, is much easier to manage than the island. That's when a lot of men elect to buzz it all off, when they get that twin-runway style receding hairline.
Thank you kindly- I am grateful for you helping me identify as a Norwood 3. This is really eye-opening for me to adopt this identity.
Yeah, man. NW 3, nothing to be ashamed of! I'm not sure if there are stats to back it up, but i'm fairly sure NW 3 is the most common variety of balding. TONS of guys in 20s, 30s, and 40s have that pattern. You're a great ambassador for NW 3's everywhere!
You’re a Norwood 2.
Nahhh this is Norwood 2 like mine
