this was almost exactly what i was looking for, im in the process of designing my first pc (i gave myself 6 months to do research and save up), and was wondering wether i could throw in a cheap old card, to get use out of some dvi/vga screens i have laying around, to use for simple things like watching youtube, or having documents up. i was considering to just use adapters before, but i have had very bad experiences with monitors properly working with adapters, so knowing this is at least somewhat possible is great!

@ Dinkie The Sink This is exactly what I am looking for! Question, what is your motherboard? What is the 2nd PCIe slot? Is it a 'fake' x16 (only the size x16, but only x4 in lanes, which is a common setup amongst the cheaper boards), or a real x16? Thanks if you answer me!
You can go into windows settings and set different programs to run on different graphics cards. This is commonly used to run games on server gpus(no video out) in computers that have igpu's.
The Ultimate question in a summarized form. "Yes, You can use two graphics cards for a PC (However). I would recommend that you don't mix match the graphics cards as downloading two types of display Drivers can conflict with each other. Overall, Don't get rid of your old graphics card, If you computer provides you a second PCI-E 16 Slot, Buy a new one and you still can use the old one. It will register them both. But out of the box if you really wanted too, You can put two different graphics cards into a System, But as a professional, I Recommend that you don't use a graphics card that is AMD + Nvidia Mixed cards... Because, It can and will bog down your system and disqualify you to use SLI or Crossfire capabilities. The PCE-I 16 Slots are as intended. As long as your Motherboard supports the capability of Multi-Card functionality its Highly likely you can run two graphics cards JUST FINE. So long as you have enough power and do your research on what is compatible for the motherboard itself. But be warned however.. Just because you put in two different graphics cards for the functionality of "HIgher" performance" it doesn't work that way unfortunately unless you set up your cross fire or SLI capabilties. (Also) Most SLI or Crossfire capabilities require you to have the same card as its simplified on getting the most performance out of the graphics card, But really my opinion if you do run dual graphics... Mostly it is used in recording or editing software or Streaming capabilites if one card is better than the other.
I have gtx 1650 super and gt 730 installed in my pc.. It's been a month I am not able to get them work. If I installed driver for 1650s, driver of gt739 gets uninstalled. Is there any solution?

For me I just hooked up two gpus and it decreased my performance so much that it crashes on every game, and when I had only 1 gpu it would be fine. Why?
I have tried this, with my rx5700 connected to my 65 inch 4k tv for gaming and a cheap old GT710 for my work monitor, for youtube and internet etc...the problem I come across is that when I use both cards, all works, except, I can't get the full 4k resolution on my tv and I can't figure out why. My other monitor is 1080p. I still trying to figure that out...
I do have a question....how do I make sure..that my game only plays on my RTX 2060 KO and not my GT 1030 Edit: computer does it automatically as long as it's on the same display that is hooked up to that monitor
Im having an issue where it says that i dont have enough resources for my second gpu (2070) and my main works fine (3080) anyway to fix it, its code 12
when i was searching for "can i use two graphics cards" i would only come up with people talking about whether or not to link two cards together, but i just have a number of old screens that wouldn't need any serious performance behind them. (though one has since died so, i guess time is taking care of that...)
Nvidia Game ready drivers ensure that you can run your 2070 super for the monitor running OBS and your 3060 Ti running video games on your main monitor.
I'm running an RX 5500XT and a GT 730 main reason is because I needed VGA but now it is my encoder card for twitch. And yes, they both work well. But if there is a game that favors nvidia *cough* seige *cough* use will use the nvidia card
what about drivers? Do we need to install both gpu drivers like one is nvidia and second one is AMD i already have amd driver installed in my pc which is rx 5500 xt so i have another gpu which is gt 9600 gt not using. But i want to add into my pc so do i need download the driver of nvidia as well or just let it go ?
i have a triple display setup running all on a 1660 and im looking to buy an RX 6800XT. I guess i will try to use my 1660 for my 2 secondary display, hoping a 850W psu will support those 2 cards.
so you did not need to plug Crossfie or SLI (Scalable Link Interface) on the two video cards it seems except the two HDMI cables to the video cards. Curiously, IBM used to call video cards adapter cards.
Crossfire or SLI was used for a multiple GPU, 1 Monitor setup where the screen split into parts which were rendered one per GPU. The interface you are talking about is called a bridge, its purpose was to transfer data between those cards so you wouldn't need to connect the second GPU to the monitor too.
I was wondering, can I have AMD (Radeon Saphire G7) and NVIDIA(GTX 1050Ti) on the same Motherboard? One connected to one monitor the other to another monitor?
my man! u safe my day . actually im about to buy higher gpu. todo all my streaming and my editing. but i reemember that i have extra gpu. when i plug in and yup it works bro! thanls man. pro and con of your video, yup u not a camera man. but you give enough information for me to fix my issues!!! may god bless you my man!
Exept that you cannot stream your game with the other card when your playing and using a monitor with your main card. There is a trick how you can technically do it. But there are lots of test and... You gonna actually have performance drop compared to singe gpu. You just can use the other card for editing, media, watcing twitch etc..

You can get a passive DVI to HDMI adapter for literally $1 shipped from china.
Do you have link
and that "can't support audio" note. This adapter doesn't dictate that. The seller doesn't know what they're talking about there.
i thought you couldn't go from dvi-d to hdmi? or was it that you can't go from hdmi to dvi-d?
