Too much self doubt and you start feeling paralyzed, overthinking things, second guessing yourself at every step of the way so it is definitely not good. But everybody should practice a healthy dose of self doubt, looking towards continuous learning, improvement and growth as, as Jim correctly pointed out, without it you become uncoachable, perhaps unteachable is a better word and completely blind to your weaknesses.
Making art is like riding an endless roller coaster, with the car undulating between elation and depression.

Self doubt. That's me all over! Maybe most artists... I had a drawing project for a client about three months ago - first time in a good while - and I spent almost as much time drawing as I did complaining to anyone who'd listen about how "I've lost it" and "I don't even know how to draw anymore..." lol
Thank you for this. This is the best thing I could have heard him a long time. I was once an aspiring artists. Dropped it to be join the army long ago. I am now just picking it up again. I'm also a Kung Fu teacher. My teacher recently died so I've been full of doubt in all areas. You are definitely an inspiration and I thank you so much for this video.
Since doubt is an emotional cue that combines with learning some of the best practice may be to draw as fast as possible without removing the doubt. The simple formula being emotion plus iteration.
Take me back to the early 90’s when all you legends of the comic world were so young and vibrant and ideas were fresh and innovative. Chingu, you, Silvestri, Portacio, etc…I’m happy I experienced the art and revolution of all of y’all’s humble beginnings.

Doubt is always there. But I learned that if I drew something badly, I'll just tell myself that "It's my style".
That was supposed to be a wise comment, you doubt so you change it, to make it right..
Doubt ain't as bad as losing confidence... game over when that occurs

How do you fight unmotivation though… sometimes when I’m halfway through a drawing it’s just doesn’t come out right I get fustrated which turns into unmotivation to finish it and I just keep putting it off I don’t know why I can’t get back into it
