    Exceptionally fine performanc, as you wd expect from Concentus Wein. Fluid, precise, very well phrased with suitably lyric/dramatic dynamics. Period phrasing in the strings is particularly notable, ditto the lightness of the voices.

      The Harnoncourt phrasing became legendary, though triggered a lot of flak from expressionless HIPsters too.
      I personally prefer the Philips recordings by Kegel of the masses, sound engineering is better and modern instruments give the edge in orchestral brilliance. Leipzig Radio Chorus pretty impressive too, as soloists - sad to hear in Harnoncourt's versions how Uwe Heilmann's voice deteriorated over the years. At his prime in the 1980s and better recording outfit, different story.
      The Concentus Musicus Wien under Harnoncourt's 'phrasing' delicacy and energy has been one of the few Baroque ensembles I paid attention to, and collected discs from, over the years. Mozart's masses were recorded in a parish church in the Austrian countryside with wonderful acoustics over the summer in the 1990s. These are some of Harnoncourt/CMV/ASC best recordings.

    Le génie créateur de Mozart utilisant sa duplicité musicale et humaine pour allier le sacré en une
    combinaison d'adoration profonde des plus harmonieuses afin de hommage à l'Esprit Infini, au Divin..

    Good music though the Benedictus is fast. It should be solomny and meditative in order to carry meaning. And the alto is a bit weak.

      @MaxwellKaye Před 5 lety +1

      It is, it's just a different tuning (~430 Hz rather than the traditional 440 today). It's more realistic to how it would have been in Mozart's time.

      It is not in the regular C major, i think it is slightly lower as it is would be performed in Mozart's time :)
