I can’t remember who it was but that guy that kept on getting hit in the back of the head throughout the fight he was vomiting between rounds and ended up going into a coma and then becoming mentally handicapped so I would say that’s a good example why not

The main difference is the recoil. There’s a serious difference between punched in the face standing up compared to punched in the face laying down. When the power cannot dissipate in recoil the resulting damage is amplified dude to energy difference.

I mean fighters shouldn't be separated for grappling one I agree. If 2 guys are on the feet doing nothing referee doesn't tell them to go to the ground and fight right. Fighting should have minimum interruption. Watch striking muay thai if you disagree
Bare knuckle boxing or MMA because long term you get more CTE with gloves and bare knuckle more surface but superficial damage bare knuckle MMA is safer because you can't hit as hard and run risk of hurting hands bare knuckle boxing is different however

It may have something to do with the fact that the head can't go anywhere but bounce back off the canvas, whereas a back-of-head strike while standing doesn't carry the same risk because theres more room for movement. I don't know for sure, but this would be my assessment of a rule like that.
