All these companies with monopolies on the internet are about to get a huge well deserved slap in the face. Charging exorbitant amounts and refusing to modernize service while raking in millions of dollars is coming to an end. Thank you Elon Musk.
Thank you for the thorough explanations. You’ve covered just about every possible setup/installation question I would have thought to ask. Our speeds are silimar but still slower. Less than 4 MB’s down and maybe .5 up. I can’t wait to get mine.
To share for anyone finding this video now.... I just got my dish yesterday (Jan 12, 2022) I ordered it in Feb. 2021. So took about a year. I like is a rural smaller town in SW Florida. I got the new Square/Rectangle dish. After having it hooked up 1 day... very good so far. Down averages about 150-200. Up averages 7-20. I downloaded a game on Steam and it was downloading at like 27mb per sec and was going up by the time it completed. Crazy. I played some FPS games and pings were acceptable like 98% of the time in the 35-60 Ping range. It would fluctuate to maybe 90-100 or so here and there but never was really bad and never disconnected. Much better than my 10mb Centurylink that Im about to cancel.
Oh all the picks about this video, which was very well put together btw and I love your galvanized pipe idea! One thing really stood out and that was starting @ 6:32 and hearing Eldar Kedem - You and Me! Great song and the scenery and install to casually set us in for your install! Also I'm not much farther North than you...I'm up across the bridge over I-75 on the Canadian side lol and yes I also have Starlink!
Thank you so much. I'm considering getting the starlink. I'll do more research. I'm looking to purchase in early 2022. I'll wait until after the holidays 😊
VERY NICE VIDEO. when you were installing your dish next to the stairs I already knew that it's not going to work as in front there were the trees and when you had to setup via apps it must showed that area is not clear up in the sky. I already knew that then you moved your dish. but i do enjoyed your video. keep it up brother. LOVE FROM INDIA.
Thanks for the great video, I am from South Australia and I placed my deposit down in February, I got told the same time frame as you did, I just got my invitation last Friday and I paid the $670 for the kit straight away and now just waiting for it to arrive.
Thanks. You’ve convinced me to go for it. I made my deposit in early March 2021, am told my availability will be before the end of the year. I live about 400 miles south of Tucson on the beach in Mexico. I’m paying $40/mo for 15-20 mb down, maybe 10 mb up.
Mine is still working great! Hopefully you get yours soon!

Cheers thank you for the video. The fiber cable end 350 meters away from my house, 350 meters away from Gigabit internet. The ISP won't extend! I'm stuck with prices and 'speed' same as what you had. I'm using a WISP that can charge whatever the like, and the alternative WISPs are equally as expensive. I can't wait for Starlink! I can see you have quality sound system, the Logitech Z906, clearly you have no neighbors close by :) :) I'm from outside a town called Ellisras, South Africa.
I added a 2 way switch I wanted to use my Netgear Nighthawk router I have 6 security cams around my property that I didnt think the starlink router would reach . Plus several non wireless devices that need to be plugged in to the router. The other switch position goes to the starlink router this way I can access it if needed and don't have to unplug wires. I have 21 devices plugged in or running off starlink. My computer still runs off my Viasat until the contract runs out.
I live in a rural area myself ran by a monopoly. I can get cable internet 75mbps download and 5mbps upload but the upload speeds drop down to 0.02 A LOT which causes frequent disconnects from video games and even causes buffering on 720p videos. Me and my neighbors have complained for months and finally one of the technicians that came out to "fix" the issues flat out said, "the area here is so small that they are not going to replace any of the lines." Thank you for this review! Just placed my order!
Nice video thank you very much, sharing experience about star link. It is very useful video to world 🌍 people who are not able reach Internet. It must be watchable worth video.👍👍👍👌👌👌
You said around the 3 minute 50 second mark the other satellite providers (I'm assuming viasat and hughesnet) have satellites at 1,200 miles up. They are in geosynchronous orbit which is a little more than 22,000 miles up. I have viasat on Texas and ping is around 600-800 milliseconds. That's why latency is much better with Starlink(they are much much closer).
It's still great! I've been planning on making an update video here soon, I just need to find time. We recently got a snowstorm with about a foot of snow. The dish melted all of the snow and I never noticed an impact on my internet.
For having one starlink chain somewhat completed it's not complet until the South Pole satellites are up. One out of 20 to25 or more chains to complete Starlink it's looking pretty good other than the lunches have dropped off I was hoping by this time next year we would have at least to chains up not looking good SpaceX was doing to launches a month sometimes 3 now no launches
I’ve had mine since last November. In the beginning I really wondered if it would be worth it. I work from home full time and I needed a second option. I no longer connect anything to the backup internet and am planning on dropping it. Is it worth it? For where I live it’s at least 50 times faster than the DSL I have here.
Yes, it's definitely worth it in my opinion. Mine has never gone out. Sometimes the speeds drop to around 30-40 mbps, but it never stays there for long.
Hello, my brother recently received his Starlink. It is the newer style with a square dish and a different router. With the new router, you need to purchase an ethernet adapter from the Starlink site in order to use an ethernet cable. Otherwise, it will be wifi only.
I basically have what you had for internet back then all I can get is 10 download and not even 1 up and when someone gets on Netflix or something it runs at like 4 or 5 and can’t play any games I have to wait when no one is on the internet to play can Starlink handle other people being on it and watching CZcams or Netflix and still play video games at the same time without lagging?
I think you forgot about the deposit you paid when you ordered it. lol 582 for the whole package, before you get add-ons. Sounds like you had a similar problem that I do. Mine is due to arrive Monday. :D
FYI - When Elon or anyone from SpaceX talk about "halving the cost of the user terminals" they mean that the cost to SpaceX to produce/manufacture the Dishys is going to be cut in half. They will almost certainly still sell them to users for the same price. That's because the terminals cost significantly more to produce than SpaceX is selling them for currently. Based on some industry data and statements from Elon and other SpaceX executives, SpaceX is estimated to be losing more than $1,000 on each Dishy sold currently (i.e. they cost over $1,500 to make, but are sold for only $500).
You mentioned that your point prior option was the local DSL telco provider, but no expansion on any prior experience with Hughes or Viasat. It looks like you've had Viasat before, based on the ground block and connectors for that rg6 cable you cut so that your could use the same entry point into your basement. So if you ever used VS, or HN prior to that, what was your experience? That bad? Lol
I only ever had DSL. Never had Viasat or Hughesnet so I cannot speak about any experience with them. The coax cable I cut for a television satellite dish that was not in use.
My last speed test was 233 MB n it is not cheaper the only thing I was out was the $500 and I am getting twice the speed and I live in a city. And yes, the longer you have it the better it gets. I used to go offline about a minute at a time but that is no longer.
Answer is a resounding YES, 7 months , ave 168mbps down, 28mbps up. Downtime, minuscule, minor very short dropouts last no more than 4 of 5 seconds. Rural area Far South East NSW Australia
How long was it from the time you placed your order (the full payment not the deposit) and when it shipped? I placed my order about a week ago and still waiting on the shipping notice.
