- As we open to 2 Samuel 11, David has finally made it to the top. Giants are killed, enemies are dead, life on the run is over, and normal life has finally started for David. As we will see, it is precisely when things are going “great” that we face some of the most lethal spiritual pathogens.
We are lulled into thinking we don’t quite need the Lord as much as: when we were sick; or when we were single; or when we were unemployed; or when we were under attack.
Most people think wouldn’t it be nice to succeed, to make it, to win the lottery of life and have everything you’ve ever wanted. Actually, if you do a scientific study of those who have “made” it, most wish they hadn’t. Many find that great success often ruins their lives.
The greatest lesson of this chapter may well be:
Beware of Life at the Top
David is at the top of his career, a firmly established and secure King.
David is at the top of his family life with a good home and education for his children all safely settled into Jerusalem, his wives are all busy and have full lives caring for the kids and for David.
David is at the top of his spiritual life: he has written and published some of the greatest songs of all time like Psalm (or Song 23), Psalm 19, 101, 24, and on and on. David is at the top as far as he or anyone else but God could see.
But as we’ll see as we read 2 Samuel 11: 1-26 it was here in his strong, top of his life years-he was tempted and failed miserably (2 Samuel 11). Join me there as we read these fateful words of the dangerously powerful lusts of sin, and the worst moment of David’s life.

Repent and walk back to God! Don't let this push you away more because then it will be much harder and a time wasted, He forgives you but please walk away from sin and continue to ask God for wisdom.
This is a daily struggle for many Christians myself including. We can go for periods of time where we feel we have our lustful issues under control and then we fall and we are devastated. My Pastor always quoted 1 Corinthians 10:12 "So if you think you're standing firm, be careful that you don't fall." Yes God is merciful and forgives us but we have to repent and turn away from our lustful desires. Keep fighting, keep praying and find a good accountability partner.

That’s why if you ever hit the lottery you should keep it to yourself and live modestly. Give secretly in Jesus’s name.
I think He would prefer that we not play the lottery and rely on Him for our daily bread.
Aaron Knight I was born and raised Catholic but am now a truly born again Christian attending my local independent Baptist Church. I dragged my twins thru Protestant Land looking for a home. I’m 69 years old and then seeing this since the 60s 70s to 80s and 90s and I believe the Lord to turn this over to our sin large left us here to do one job and we’re in this world but we’re not of this world and we have to stay diligently seeking him let’s watch some more of him I like the Bible says if any part of your body makes you feel cast it off you so each day we have to crucify yourself and follow JesusI think God for John Burnett’s teachings there right on time for me

We live in a world now where immorality and all kinds of sins are common or normal in the eyes of most people with all nations, but not with God because all the sins that we have committed it separate us from the presence of God. Here Dr. John Barnett teach us from God's Word on how to flee from it. We are all bombarded with all kinds of evil things and sins that grieved the heart of God. It displeases God for the Lord is a Holy God and He doesn't tolerate sins that's why we need to ask God for forgiveness from all our sins from time to time though God forgive us, sins still has a consequences to right the wrong.

We all should pray to God to open our eyes to "sin" and lead us with His Spirit. When one is free of demons and is pure, what 'is' sin and what is not is very much apparent. A righteous mind takes things seriously for what they truly are, and is not desensitized to polar opposites. We need to seek purity, Holiness and sensitivity towards right and wrong. Most of it is attained by tuning out of society and culture as over indulging in the same will make our minds survivalistic and accustomed to what is bad. To keep our lens clean, we need to stay out of dirty environment or culture, and not compromise and be a part of it.

@@DennisMerwood-xk8wp It would be hard to make a list. But anything that violates your conscience falls under sin. And to be in tune with your conscience equals being free of demons bcz demons lead us to ignore and neglect our conscience. Being direly in tune with one's conscience will lead to purging of worldly ways and thinking and inculcation of a moral character. That's what I've understood from memory when the world was not in me and I could feel something go wrong whenever there would be an inclination towards sinning. Now I have a little bit of world in me and I'm looking back and also asking God to make me more conscientious and help me overcome sin. An e.g. would be that of having a scientific temperament to be a scientist (it's less about the "list"). Similarly to identify sin one needs to be a moralist.

By reading God’s Word everyday meditating upon it and memorizing His Word will guard our mind and our thiughts because the Word of God is active and alive it has power to renew our minds and our thoughts with the things that displeases God. And prayer together with the Word of God are the powerful tools we can use to fight over all the power of enemy. Learning, obeying and keeping the statutes or rules of God in our heart will protect us from falling into sin. We need to stored up God’s Word in our heart and fix our eyes on God and His ways. By the Word of God and thru the work of the Holy Spirit - the Spirit of God our lives can be sanctify and purify in the name of Jesus.
These verses as you meditate and memorize it , will serve as a reminder and it will help to fight against the struggle of sin and other temptations. It only by God might can overcome it so come to God and ask for His help and cling upon His Word.

Even though I am just barely starting this article, I know I have strong strategies in my own life to NIP in the beginning bud any impure or lustful thoughts... especially any related people, places, or imaginations that can trigger offences against God's best. Yes, I am painfully aware how weak I am based on past thoughts and behaviors. And yes. It begins with not strongly guarding thoughts.

If you are saying that the universe is God this is gnosticism, theosophy and luciferianism. If you are following that theology please pray that God open your eyes and give you wisdom and discernment and truth! You're headed down a very dangerous path. God is a personal God not the universe. The two scriptures you are referring to are correct and even Jesus said the scriptures that fulfill all the law and prophets are loved the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul with all your mind and with all your strength and love your neighbor as yourself. Those are truth. Jehovah is spirit, yet is a personal God who I speak to who I pray to. And he speaks to our hearts. The Lord Jesus Christ came directly from the father incarnate by the Holy Ghost the firstborn first begotten of the father. These are beautiful mysteries that can be comprehended. Because I believe the Bible there are over 200 verses in the Bible that describe the earth differently than what we understand it to be. call me a conspiracy theorist for a hundred different reasons I don't trust NASA and different government programs. And from my own study and perspective I'm open-minded to the idea that things are different than we've been taught. With that being said you could categorize me as a flat earther which I had never even heard about until this last year, The 500 years ago everyone believed that we lived on a flat existence surrounded by Antarctica in an enclosed system which is actually described in the Bible. The only reason this is important is because if people start believing that we are going to be visited by space aliens and different creatures from different planets I don't believe that to be true. If we are visited it will be by fallen angels and demons as ascended beings and all of this can lead people astray and that's my concern. People will actually be searching after these ascended masters these evolved beings that are here to fool us and this could be the grand illusion spoken of in the Bible This whole alien agenda.
