PicoScope 7 now has the long awaited (for me anyway) Masks feature! In this video we look at PicoScope 7 Automotive with the mask feature and how to use it to identify intermittent faults. The PicoScope has tools that many other oscilloscopes don't have which are so valuable for automotive diagnostics. These updates are also available for the PicoScope 2204a and PicoScope T&M.
Get started with oscilloscope diagnostics with these amazing value pieces of kit!

Great tutorial mate. I must admit that I haven't used masks too much as I didn't know it's proper use. Looks like an awesome feature.
I'll be having a play next time I fire up Pico 7!
Keep up the great videos 😉👍
It’s a cool feature, sets the scope apart from other options 👍
Thanks for this Darren. Interesting, useful features 👍
Nicely explained. Worth watching.
Nice demo :) that masking feature is quite handy, thanks for the tip 👍
It’s such a cool feature!
Oh the fun you can have setting custom audio triggers as such in a shop.
I'm just imagining setting it to shout obscene things as misfire events as the foreman walks by
🤣🤣🤣
Go next level and hook up a pulse sensor on a chair 😂
@@MechanicMindset I mean, it's not difficult to set your laptop audio output to something with a REALLY long aux cable...
Install went fine on my Linux laptop. Wish I had known you can use it to look at the waveforms without the scope. Pico Scope should be in next week anyways.
Great!
Thanks bro. Hate when P7 freeze up. Will have to make the switch one day
Get it updated to the latest version! No looking back 🤣
The mask looks really useful! The ability to keep saving and restarting (instead of looping) is definitely going to give my graphtec data logger a run for its money since the ability to record long records is what I bought it for...!
Interesting, not used that data logger before. What do you use it for?
@@MechanicMindset It works as a coarse oscilloscope (data logger) mostly for catching stray signals, voltage spikes, etc. over long periods of time (ie, the costs in the machine). Has pretty much the same triggers as a scope but not anywhere near the resolution. Same as a scope, you can also set it to stop recording and save when it catches a signal of interest. Or it will just fill up the available memory and stop or can be set to loop back through. It'll keep going until the power runs out, or the time limit is up. 10 inputs for probes and you can attach whatever you need for probes as long as the voltage is attenuated to the limits of the logger. Obviously, the more inputs and longer time periods that you choose, the coarser the data will be. But the resolution of data interval updates are still way faster than my Launch x431 so I can get better graphing results. Look up Graphtec midi data logger. I have the gl240 (little one with a screen). There are other, much less expensive data logger out there if you just want to use a laptop to do your recording, but it seems this new masking and continuous file saving with better resolution will make the graphtec unnecessary. (or maybe Pico had that all along and I just didn't find it... 😔)
@@MechanicMindset sorry for the wall - o-words
@@KingLoopie1 Thanks for sharing. Yes, this feature has been there for a while in Pico 6. But you gotta use what works for you. Your tool sounds convenient 👍
@@KingLoopie1 😂 Thanks for Sharing
Unable to access masks, says "coming soon".....thoughts?
Are you in latest version?
Just updated before I posted, rechecked and it says I have latest version.
@@dvdgaudette Oh that’s odd. I would feedback to Pico. Are you using Early Access (not stable)
