Zade you should check out a new rts called Falling Frontier by stutter fox studios it looks fantastic and its being made by one guy. It definitely deserves a video

Imma guess it was evolution for all the 3d engine style games that created this storm.
I still enjoy this game. The castle building mechanic never gets old for me. I love seeing my food guys collect the apples from the trees.

I considered this game as a masterpiece in firefly studios now I play Stronghold Crusader Extreme because I want it to be brutal that way with huge amount of armies attacking my fortress
Crusader soundtrack is incredibly authentic. Full of memories..
So sad this masterpiece isnt more wildely known. A perfect game, from its era to this day, and yet you need 3rd parties for multiplayer, and most of the people didnt even hear about it...
I think its pretty widely known in RTS communities, just old AF and for multiplayer, the still played version of these old games, ppls just prefer AoE2/4? and Starcraft mostly.

Mercenaries almost feel like a separate faction of their own, theyre expensive as hell sure (with the exception of slaves and slingers) but they are really handy if you have the gold to spare and are easier to obtain compared to their castle counterparts, though its better to use them in conjunction with castle units than replacing them entirely
those maybe the exceptions :P I should've got my point across clearer - what I meant was the ones that have counter parts (swordsmen, archers, etc) aren't as strong, but the new ones like horse archers offer new mechanics that are entirely different. Though now I think about it that is most of them, so yes I think I should've reorganized that one!

@@Zade_95 Arabian archers are actually far superior to European archers with considerably higher health and double the fire speed. The difference is European troops are often more versatile, straightforward, and armoured, while Arabian troops are more specialised, mobile, and gimmicky.

I remember that when I was in Junior High School (Middle School), the IT teacher installed this and the Extreme Crusader to every PC in the lab. My school was a boarding, so after school a lot of kids would play either this or CS 1.6 for about 2 hours :v :v
I boarded too and can empathize with bois gathering in the lab for some Strategy times. Different game and time prob, but kindred in spirit

This game was the first game I saw on pc and first game that I played. :D It was maybe 2007, my cousin had it and till this day Im playing it, have many other RTS games, but this one still the best, sadly Firefly abandoned it.
they didn't abandon it but couldn't make anything as good or better. I doubt warlords will be any good either.
But dont worry, we have a modding community, we guys are making new ai's and a lot of bug fixes with the UCP (Unofficial Crusader Patch)

I can't really pinpoint what it is but for me the 2d stronghold crusader has a kind of 'soul' or personality that seems to have flatten out completely in the 3d games of Firefly studios.
I can remember the first time player SHC2 and it felt empty in some kind of way.

stronghold europe is one of the best mods,simply being able to enjoy stronghold crusader features without being in the desert and with a new soundtrack is great

I was not really an RTS game player till I started playing this around 2008, I remember beating the 7 or 6 AI in ffa for the first time, such rewarding feeling.. At that time we didn't have internet and I had to figure out all the mechanic by trial and error,that also added to the experience..

I've been playing this game since I was a kid but the only thing I can't do, is the those super tiny walls that you have on your map
To make very tall walls, you just have to put up the tallest hill in editor, put down stone wall and then proceed to remove the hill by flattening the ground. Making high walls is not possible in normal game without editor but you can load the map with high wall to play.
As in for super short walls it's almost the same mechanic, basically you have to place down a stone wall and cover it around with either short hill (if you place short stone wall) or high hill for high stone wall.

One of my favorite games of all time! I was so sad because I never got to play a successful online game and I was only able to make a lan connection work once with a friend of mine... still this was by far my favorite out of the series🔥
Gameranger is a 3rd party software you can use to play Stronghold Crusaider HD online. It also supports Age of empires, NFS underground ect. Any game from the early 2000 pretty much.

i made myself a challege in Stronghold Crusader mission line mode which is not allowed to require any raw resources except wood
Playing this Game from 2003 (imagine 19 years)- Never got bored, still we LOVE this game. I never interested on new versions. This Version of Game is SPECIAL and close to heart.

the game will also try to fucking jumpscare you if you play it at night, assuming ya have a profile name that fits to one of the names on their list - game will whisper your name and such, and the announcer dud in general talking with ya throughout suggesting to take breaks n stuff, also addresses ya with name if it fits etc.....

Still, the best part of the game i think, what really makes this game special for me is the AI lords. They just have so much character and they make skirmish, a gamemode i generally hate into a really enjoyable experience, as every game can be unique. Its not simply different races that always fights the same, like in most other games, but actually varying enemies with different playstyles and different strategies to counter or use as an ally. Age of Empires 3 is the only game that did something similar too and it was great even there, but obviously S:C still takes the cake in this case.

I use OBS as well (and have an nvidia card). If you use game capture, have you tried desktop capture? I use that and find it works really well

im a cheeky fellow, and i build 1 kind of tower...the tall skinny watch tower. ive managed to cram 120 Xbowmen/archers into it using an exploit xD. makes for a fun defense point...until they bring the catapults xD

Crusader was the only one we owned growing up, so its interesting to hear about it compared to the previous one which I have never actually played. Crusader is so nostalgic to me I think I'm going to have to try playing it again, and maybe try the original for the first time.

You guys all need to install the unofficial crussader patch. Since v15s krarilotus aggressive KIs it is even crazier. I had a match against wolf yesterday where after 40 min he pished himself up to 760 troups, attacking me with 500 troups

This brings back memories of my childhood love it old but still as some others say seeing the folk going about their days seeing the wood guys plodding along like come man faster I have a queue for wood! And the apple guys collecting, the hunters out stalking, the saddest realisation for me was watching the tanner leading Daisey a cow away from pen to his hut where he slices her and makes the crossbow armour 😱😣😃 I will always pop back onto stronghold for some good old school gaming throughout the years to come, but with playing red dead etc the graphics are hard to accept 😂☺️
I did not believe it when my classmate from boarding school told me then that I'd find this game too hard to beat. I was skeptical about his claim. After trying it out years later, his claim held true.

One game people should definitely still play is Anno 1602. Holds up much better than it‘s sequels.
This game is so so underatted that a lot just critsizd as a bad game that doesn't deserve your to get back to it or your attention but some other say its a good game

I remembered first screens of Stonghold in late 90´ I was SO amazed by concept and look. Patroling on walls was revolution in RTS. Peasants gathering around campfire when happines is positive? Ehm. Possibility to make it from just lords hall to townfortress. Ehm, ehm. Sieges and defences with hundreds of troops. Ehm,Em,ehmm.Archers on towers and walls and possibility to build just you like..Emmmm. Like yeah there was Starcraft and Age of emp. from 1997. But this is love. Crusader make it really quick and full of action, but for this concept is too much unbalanced for correct pvp. I agree also with campaign and cutscenes (even little childish). Crusader trail is just set of skirmishes and soon really hard skirmishes.
What do people have against Raid Shadow Legends?
Well if you ever watched an actual review you’ll understand it’s embodiment of mobile games; a grind fest which is designed to play itself with no player input hence the faster game speed option. So you can watch your party play the same level over and over again before unlocking the next one. Filled with micro transactions that goes towards it’s insane advertisement campaign.

I really wanna be as optimistic as possible about the new Stronghold game but they haven't made an actual good Stronghold game since Stronghold 2 and even that was a mixed bag. I've tried the demo and it was... ok but nothing to really write home about. I don't know how they managed to do it that first time but they've never really been able to really pull it off again.
I'm hopeful - you're right the demo didn't have a lot but it was meant to be a game expo demo just to showcase basic mechanics - so I'll reserve judgement. Haven't been able to play any builds since then, so hoping for big upgrades on March 9!
